Kona Grill - Troy
The Kona chopped salad was really lame. It was supposed to consist of the following:
macadamia nut chicken, field greens, eggs, applewood bacon, avocado, white cheddar, grape tomatoes, honey-dijon dressing.
What I got was a moutain of "greens", a few grape tomato halves, a bit of chicken, no bacon, a sprinkling of cheddar and less than one chopped up egg.
This place used to rock with its portions and attention to detail when it comes to compliance with stated dish ingredients. WHAT HAPPENED?
As always the sushi was extremely good. But the main courses just continue to get worse and worse every time we visit. Our daughters meal arrived 15 minutes prior to all the rest of our main courses. She was done eating before the rest of us even received our meals. We used to really enjoy Kona, but the food quality just seems to be worse and worse with every visit. My wifes chicken was extremely dry and my Pad thai (that i normally enjoy) had the same dry flavorless chicken. On top of the terrible chicken, the noodles where all dried out and the entire dish lacked flavor. Its almost like they forgot to put in any sort of flavoring. We will continue to enjoy Kona for sushi, but that is about it.
Great service and great food. Been here on multiple occasions and never disappointed
We love Kona! We come often for the great food and will continue to do so!
Always an amazing time at Kona Grill. Incredible sushi!!
Always good to find a capable sushi restaurant with non-sushi options. The menu was full of options even for the occasional seafood / sushi eater. Drinks were good, but no deal at $12 for glass of red. Service was very good. Can't say enough positives about our server. She checked back regularly. Avocado app and Caesar salad were great. My Korean chimichurri flank steak was more rare that I requested. Good news was that it wasn't tough, but it was unsettling to my preference. Almond beans were bland. Garlic mash were fine but unremarkable. Wife had red snapper which was very good. Coconut sauce with hers always was a winner. Something happened in kitchen though, as we waited a very long time between app and entree. like nearly 35 minutes. That was disappointing. And sitting within 4 booths of the kitchen, an elusive fruit fly made the booth experience less than ideal.
Would go back to try again, but for $90 w/tip for 2 people and 1 drink each, likely only going to target happy hour vs a meal.
a nice time with friends and a great place to meet after work.
I do not eat chicken I specifically asked the waitress if my food came vegetarian, she said yes. And out came a chicken and vegetable dish. However, the manager did take it off my bill and we sent the food back. Secondly, they had to many flies, flying around. I spent most of my meal fanning which was annoying and a appetite spoiler.
We sat in the bar for Happy Hour. It was definitely noisier than the dining area, but the specials were awesome. As usual, the sushi was fantastic!
They didn't have the item I wanted on the menu any longer. I ordered a chicken dish and didn't like it. The waitress and manager didn't make me feel bad about my decision. They were very considerate and accomadating. I ordered the snapper and it was great! My boyfriend ordered salmon and it was great as well. The margaritas we're good, appetizers were great, our server was great! A bit overpriced, but overall good.
This was my second time experiencing too many nets flying around. The excuse given was “they like our soy sauce “
Had the happy hour selection. All were good. We waited in the bar 20 min for someone to wait on us. That is unacceptable.
I’ve always enjoyed Kona, but was very underwhelmed this time. Food was mediocre (flat bread pizza seemed a bit stale and just luck warm). Our sever was very personable , but went MIA on a few occasions for lengthy periods.
Our waitress was outstanding. Very friendly and attentive. Sea Bass was amazing and both sides were equally delicious. Baby bok choy was the surprise hit of the night. Delicious!
Our server was excellent--she found out that we were celebrating a birthday and brought a cake/ice cream for her.
We enjoyed Father’s Day at Kona Grill and I already recommended this restaurant to my family and friends. We used open table to make reservations and when we arrived, we were promptly seated. The menu offered a variety of selections and our meals were delicious.
Stacy our server was very friendly, knowledgeable and funny. The food was very good and our table of 5 all left happy and satisfied. Would definitely go back again and ask for Stacy.
Kona is one of my favs. However on a Friday night to be out of alcohol was a bit weird!!! Yes three drinks that were on menu not available because of lack of liquors!!!
It was my boyfriend birthday an we went for Happy Hour and it was wonderful, great prices and a decent selection on sushi to choose from, got so full just off happy hour! It was awesome! Gonna go at least once a week! It’s just that cool. The sushi chefs were so cool! Happy to explain any roll to us! Atmosphere was great with the big fish tank!
The stir fry came with spices after informing the wait staff that I could not have spice on my food. Other then that, the rest of our other plates were good.
My boyfriend and I came here starving and ready for some drinks! We enjoyed really good mojitos. We ordered a flatbread, sushi, and he ordered some sliders as well. The portions are huge! His sliders were almost two regular sized burgers, and they were about $7.50. The flatbread was also large. The sushi was awesome and the price can’t be beat - it’s hard to find good sushi that doesn’t break the bank. The only downside is happy hour is only in part of the restaurant.
The sushi was amazing!
Very friendly staff. Prompt service. Menu had a ton of options. I went the sushi route, my daughter went the steak path. Food was fine but felt a little overpriced.
We went for our son’s high school graduation. Our food was good and our server was phenomonal
Never dissatisfied or disappointed!! Service and food are always excellent!!
Notified on reservations that customer was allergic to tomatoes. Tomatoes were served.
Overall it was a good experience. It was our first time here and my first time using Open Table. We ended up here because all of the other places my husband was interested in were closed... it was Memorial Day. He also works in a restaurant and this was his only day off and we were celebrating his 40th birthday. Our server was very good... friendly and helpful and we never had to ask for refills. The ambiance was nice except the fact that there were gnats in all of our faces during the entire stay. They have accordion style windows and patio seating so it’s just inevitable. No one complained about their food but it wasn’t anything to be super excited about it, either. I’d go back, sure, but it wouldn’t be my first choice if I had other options.
Air conditioning was blasting and windows opened - cool spring night - made it miserable
Restaurant was very cold making it difficult to enjoy the time there. Food was just ok but service could not have been better
Love the food! Service excellent as usual. Great family place for us! There are many good restaurants around here but we always come to Kona!
The seafood is so fresh and well prepared.
It was great
This is one of the few places that has never disappointed me. The food and service is always great!
Even my teenage nephews (who are very picky eaters) tried some things that are out of their comfort zone and loved them! One of which was the calamari. It is so good, I order it every time I come here.
Great atmosphere for a date! The wait staff is patient with customers that want to take their time to talk before eating.
Had not been to this establishment in a while, and was shocked when our party arrived and found the place to be virtually empty (in the dining room). Service and food was as good as was remembered. Menu, however, has changed and does not appear to be as appealing to a broad audience as previously.
Was terrible. finished dinner before the appetizers came out. Got my first glass of wine half way through dinner and it was ordered before appetizers.
My waiter was horrible but the food was incredible so i got over it quick even tho he forgot most of my order and i had to wait longer
Food and presentations wasn’t as good as it’s been in the past. Probably due to Mothers Day rush but too restaurants rise above and produce the same quality regardless.
