Our server was training a new person so we tried to be understanding. But after taking our app and drink order, they disappeared for 25 minutes. When they brought our appetizers they had clearly been sitting for awhile. For appetizers we had the meatballs and chicken satay. The only thing good about the chicken satay was the peanut sauce. The meatballs probably would have been decent if they weren’t cold. For our entrees we had ribs and the filets. My ribs were drown is sauce to hide the fact they were under cooked and tough. My wife said her filet was decent. The food was TGI Fridays quality but poorly executed. And at twice the price, I’ll pass on returning to this place. We tried to get a reservation at quite a few places in town but they were all booked. It makes sense why this place had availability.

Long day after a Bucs game the wait staff was paper thin & it took us very long to get our food . They ran out of salmon & other then that the food was good. Our server was pleasant & did the best he could for having so many tables.

Cami was our waitress and she was amazing. Very kind and made sure to check in and truly care about our experience. Haley also came by to visit and she was great. We met her last visit and she remembered us and said hi and checked in on our experience. Our burger was great and sushi amazing like always!

Food was good. We made reservations and still had to wait. Wasn't impressed with hostess staff - personal conversations appeared more important than helping customers. Bathrooms had graffiti. Besides that everything was nice.

It was way too loud. The front desk man was condescending as hell. Our food took an hour to come out and when it did, it was unseasoned. One of our drinks were wrong. Our server never came to check on us except once. I’ll go back during the day, but never at night.

We were seated fairly quickly despiste changing our mind about where to sit. We reserved for inside but it was nice enough to sit outdoors and they accommodated that for us. The service was a bit slow but they seemed to be overwhelmed with the Buc fans. Hubby got a beer and warm sake for his drink and I ordered the Sunday morning cocktail which was pretty good. For appetizers, we ordered the jalapeño yellowtail sashimi and calamari. No complaints about the sashimi but the calamari was so salty that we couldn’t eat it. Then for our entree, my hubby got the surf and turf - crunchy spicy tuna roll with the NY strip, potatoes and green beans. The tuna roll was salted way too much so he couldn’t eat it, and his steak was over cooked. I got the sunset roll and it was delicious. We ordered more drinks (same ones from the start) and I couldn’t drink mine. It was made completely different than the first time. We got the brownie dessert and that was divine. We won’t be back unfortunately.

I used to come here often and it was always great. This place must be struggling. Their brunch menu is outrageously priced. Service was fine. After waiting 40 minutes, our appetizer came out burnt so the server put in a new order for us unprompted. The next one came out 15 minutes later and was still frozen solid. After over an hour, our food finally came out and everything was cold. Multiple orders were incorrect as well. Just super disappointing. I was really embarrassed that I had recommended this and taken new people here. And we were still charged full price for everything (except the burnt and frozen appetizers).

One of the worst experiences! Service was poor all around waited over an hour for our meals because the server said someone took one of the meals for another table. Worst part the he didn't seem to care with a very insincere apology.
Also took forever to get a refill on my drink.
When the food finally showed up and wasn't right. Walked out without eating!

The manager had the nerve to charge me for the drinks!

Very disappointing experience. Check in process was a complete mess. Service, whilst friendly, was hopelessly inept. From the time we were seated, it took 45mins to receive our drinks (waters and a simple bottle of sake) and food. We also had to ask several times for side plates, chopsticks, soy sauce etc. Food was bland with sushi rolls containing very little protein, the type of which was hard to identify. What’s more, it was a cool evening, yet all the gas heaters on the patio weren’t working. Safe to say, we won’t be back nor seek out any other Kona Grills in future.

Very nice ambience and a beautiful outdoor area. Servers were friendly and attentive. Food is very expensive ($11 for miso soup and sushi rolls $20 average) and not outstanding, especially for the price. Mashed potatoes were cold, twice.

It was a slow night at the restaurant and the waiter seemingly forgot about our table on multiple occasions. The pad thai noodles were undercooked, they were crunchy. Both pad thai meals were sent back and asked to have the noodles cooked fully. They heated up the dish and did not cook the noodles more. We asked to take the meal back and we just wanted to order fried rice and veggies. We waited for over 15 min for our waiter to come to the table with the check. When the check arrived, they charged us for both the pad thai meals that were sent back and they also charged us for an order of fried rice and veggies. The service was terrible and the food was less than desirable. I do not recommend dining at Kona Grill.

First of all, this was my first time eating at Kona Grill. Will not visit again. I order a steak and it was very cold. Food wasn't that great and they were out many items in the menu.

Awful experience. We’ll never be back to Kona. No communication, servers switched when food and drink orders hadn’t been put in after being taken 20 min prior, manager didn’t even come to the table to say anything, servers admitted to a “manager problem” which I completely believe since the manager didn’t even come out to apologize that we waited 90 min for our food. Our bill was comped half which was fine but there was zero communication about that. I even picked up trash off the floor that multiple employees walked past.

Super frustrating. I keep going back to Kona after poor experiences but I will never be back after this one. Just terrible overall. I know things are tough right now but a little communication with your customers goes a heck of a long way. Super frustrating because I love the food but it’s not worth it to feel like no one wants us to come there.

Our meat and hamburger was cold, it was delicious but cold. We waited 40 minutes to get our food. It was cold outside and the heaters were not working. I enjoy coming to Kona but I will not do New Years Dinner again.

Food was definitely good. Cut of steak for the price was average. The plating for the steak wasn’t great. Steak juice flowed over the edge and onto the table.

We had our 3 year old and really wanted a nice dinner. Kona was perfect and a healthy meal for our 3 year old was nice after a week of pizza and hamburgers. My husbands steak was excellent snd my sushi was fresh. Loved it and we’ll definitely be back if we are ever in tampa again.

I have eaten here before, and it is normally very good. I had business colleagues there for lunch. Our appetizers were OK, but two of the three meals were poor. The orders of broccoli were cold, and the overall meal did not taste well. None of us finished our lunches.

Took 45 minutes to get drinks, an hour 15 minutes to get our apps and when dinner arrived it was cold and bland.

For the price and quality I would not recommend but maybe this was an off night.

They don’t have enough staff to run the place. Food was terrible we waited 3 hours and had to cancel our items since the waiter kept saying some items are taking longer and they have worked shortages. If they have worker shortages they should not seat patrons.

Everything except for the Avocado Egg rolls we ordered was bland and tasteless. The Margarita was really bad. Ambience and service was the only good thing here considering how good the reviews were, we expected a lot. May be it was an off day. Try your luck!

Was absolutely disappointed with having an reservation for 8pm and being told we had to wait over an hour to be seated due to over booking. The purpose of using OpenTable is the help accommodation with restaurant reservations, so you're not having to wait to be seated. Christmas night was an epic fail and disappointment.
