Kona Grill - Scottsdale Ratings and Reviews
Our waiter Brian was an excellent server. Friendly, professional, smart, fast, efficient, and the food was very good. It’s amazing the difference a great waiter makes (no I don’t know him personally). Anyhow, we can always count on a great meal at Kona Grill but for an even better experience request Brian as your waiter (tall with blond hair).
The overall dining experience was okay. You should not expect a fine dining experience when located in a mall. The service and staff were friendly and professional. The food, however was not very good. The pot stickers were dry and tasteless. The sushi was just not very appetizing and two of our party that ate the sushi did not feel very good later. This experience was in contrast to our Kona Grill experience in Meridian, ID where we have gone several times and all with a good experience including the food.
Kona took a party of 12 of us same-day, which was great. Also, complementary dessert for a birthday. Food was really good and with a group, the price was extremely reasonable. Our waitress was kind of rude and disengaged, but I suppose we were a lot to handle for a big table later in the evening. Could've been better service but orders were accurate and speedy, so could've been worse...
Our server, June, was ah-mazing. My MIL's bday, our party of 6 trickled in so she had to come back for drink orders several times, 2 of them were GF... We were a hot mess and she was great through the whole thing. We felt like we were her only table.
The food (we all had sushi) was good, but it could've been crap and we still would've had a great night thanks to June.
We have been to Kona Grill several times over the years, yet every time we truly enjoy the great environment, The Staff and the Food has always been superb.
We definitely recommend this Restaurant, in this great location for Locals as well as Visitors to our City
All the tables were dirty and they were not busy, it was nearly 10pm. The ladies made it seem like a big deal to clean a booth off for us. Then, our order was made wrong. Ordered a Vegas roll and ingredients were left out. Both salmon and cream cheese and they didn't fix it, apologize or adjust check. There were only 2 others tables in the area and server was not attentive. It was the worse service I have had in quite some time, not to mention the sushi was not good, made wrong and a complete disappointment.
I was very disappointed with Kona Grill. I'd never been before, but my boyfriend and I decided to try it for sushi to celebrate my birthday. Kona was quite expensive (which I had anticipated based on its location - Scottsdale) and the food was mediocre at best. The tuna sashimi was noticeably dry and old, the specialty rolls have only 5 pieces to a roll (making it difficult for precise sharing), the specialty drinks were VERY small and mostly ice, and we were waited on by no less than 7 different servers, which meant repeating ourselves and our order several times and still having a wrong dish delivered and nearly missing one that we HAD ordered. A total disappointment. Thankfully my boyfriend and I could laugh about the whole fiasco, but I wouldn't never recommend it to anyone else.
Had not been here for many years. We came back about a month ago and loved it. Came back again last weekend with different friends and it was once again great. Cannot wait for new location to open as that one will be closer to us. Great food, excellent service -- just a really nice evening.
My sister graduated from GCU and asked that we have the celebration dinner at Kona Grill. I am so happy she chose this location, with our large party of 17 plus 2 little ones, the staff was very attentive and went beyond our expectations. The food was delicious! I had the chicken stir fry and my husband the "Cubano" sandwich which in his words "trumps all sandwiches" . We will be returning when we are back in the area.
Been here many times for bar and sushi. Dinner in restaurant was a completely different thing. Service was one of the worst I've ever experienced. Food took almost over 45 minutes to arrive from when we ordered. Actually ate and left before all items actually came to table. Seriously horrible night !!
I ate there twice in 3 days. The first dinner was great service and food and atmosphere. The second was was absolutely terrible. The waitress made a very off kilter comment to one of my clients that offended him bc he didn't drink! Also the service was attrocious. Had to ask for soy sauce when we were ordering sushi. Then had to ask for the soy sauce trays. One of the rolls the waitress forgot to put in, so we didn't get it till late. Overall I think it's a great place just had a very bad experience for the second dinner.
First time at Kona Grill - recommended by a family member, so we decided to go for mine and my mom's birthday. We were seated apart from everyone in the restaurant in the back, which was nice. The service started out fine, and quickly went downhill from there. We were hardly attended to. A waitress (not our main waiter) asked if we would like to order, and we said we needed a few more minutes, and wasn't attended to by our waiter for another 25 minutes, where my dad actually had to wave him over and say we were ready to order. Our food came out relatively quick and it was good food, so that was good. My dad, mom and I all ordered alcoholic drinks and we were never asked if we wanted another (which we would've ordered a second round). Overall the experience was less than par, the food was good, I would recommend a friend but the service was horrible - especially because it was our birthday. Which, the waiter probably had no idea because there was no conversation as to what brought us in for our first visit at Kona Grill. Disappointing.
