Kona Grill - Scottsdale
Was a last minute book night before prom worked perfectly for our party of 6. Place was almost as pretty as my date!
Do not eat here if you have serious food allergies.
John was our server..He was at our table quickly, gave us his name, let us know he would answer any of our questions. Took our wine order and returned quickly, he offered suggestions about the menu, and was honest and helpful with his information. I ordered the lamb bowl at his suggestion and it was fantastic, Richard ordered the Sea Bass, and John recommended the mashed potatoes and vegetables rather than the white rice.. again excellent suggestion. He returned to our table several times to make certain our dinner was going well.. not intrusive, just right. I was so impressed with his service and friendliness I spoke to the manager about how pleased I was with John.. He was the best server we've encountered so far this year and we eat out at least 3 times a week. We will return..
Blah blah blah
Struggled with wait staff. Good ok. $$&
Macadamia nut chicken is fantastic and a must have when eating at the Kona Grill
Food was delicious! Service was great.
Food and Service were outstanding. Our Server was great
Took visiting brother to dinner. Everything wonderful. Potstickers, calamari, salmon, snapper, and beef sliders all great. Server excellent as well. Delightful evening. Highly recommend.
Kona Grill at Scottsdale Fashion Mall is a relaxing place for lunch. The menu is somewhat limited, but the sushi is good. The service was good as well.
Sushi great. Entrees not good at all. My steak had to be redone and salmon bad
Experience was disappointing. Server was indifferent, almost seemed bored. Funny smell in the place-air freshner trying to cover-up a fishy smell? Food was fairly good. Overall, not what we remembered. It will be a long time before we return.
first impression was very lacking. 4 hostesses who appeared slacking just seemed gossiping with each other. lack of attention to their surroundings. or perhaps, they think they are superior because they think their restaurant is michelin star. please kona grill is far from michelin star. even a one michelin star restaurant would not give such negative treatment. when had checked-in, their voice intonation was very degrading toward us. management really needs to control the personalities of their employees. inside the restaurant, almost completely empty. but upstairs in the outdoor/bar area, totally packed. all day happy hour sunday the craze. fortunately, our server was very nice. he was the only person that was kind and genuinely enjoying his job. watching the other servers treatment to their customers, hmmm... not even satisfactory in customer service. a party of 10-13 people was in front of us, and despite 3 different servers running to take/give their orders, the orders took a very long time. also, watched other tables of 3-5 people, same coincidence. so, advice, perhaps instead of 4 hostesses, hire more servers. the food... definitely need to improve the rolls. have gone to other fusion-american-asian-hispanic restaurants who serve sushi rolls, and in comparison, kona grill is the worst. the burger sliders is at the level of mcdonald's burgers. on top of that, in some other countries, the mcdonald's burgers are even at a muchmuchmuch higher level then the burgers at kona grill. the avocado egg rolls was paired with an extremely sweet sauce. gross. advice, these egg rolls would have been much better paired with maybe a simple soy/vinegar or soy/lemon sauce. the flatbreads, tasted similar to fast food chains. the salads, tasteless. watched a couple have one of the fish entrees, both only took one bite. soon after, finished their drinks, paid their bill, and left. probably to dine at a different restaurant. cocktails, where's the alcohol??? no plans to return.
Food was very good and there was great variety to choose from. Service was very bad; Ash our waitress disappeared after taking our order and we had to eat our appetizers with no cutlery. Both ash and another gentleman server gave us strange looks when we asked for cutlery. Bathrooms are very untidy.
Fresh food and good quality
Not too impressed with the potsticker appetizer
We have enjoyed going to Kona Grill and looked forward to dinner at Fashion square. We had a reservation for 6pm and when we checked in, we were told our table was occupied by a group that had been sitting for 1.5 hours. We were asked to wait for 10 mins as the group appeared to be finishing. 45 mins later we approached the hostess who finally got a manager. The manager was under the impression that our reservation was for 630, when he realized it was for 6, he quickly got the table cleaned up and gave us complimentary appetizers. Our server was very good and the food decent but we will not be rushing back anytime soon.
Great place to eat. Perfect go to for date night. Presentation was excellent.
Such DELICIOUS food. An amazing happy hour menu. Lots of appetizers and sushi and drinks offered for such amazing prices.
Mumbai Chechen was amazing. Restaurant was so loud it was difficult to converse. I will return at s time when they are not so busy.
So many servers but slow and inattentive staff. The dinner entrées were poor in flavor and size for the price. We asked for two rolls of avocado rolls throughout dinner and received completely different sizes and portions.
Excellent food & service. My girlfriend and I enjoyed our time there very much.
Great gracious & knowledgeable staff, wonderful food & quite setting away from hustle & bustle of the Fashion Square Mall
Disappointing experience. Multiple first time guests were greeted by server after waiting several minutes. Appetizers were served without plates, napkins or utensils. Rolls were served without soy sauce, chopsticks, etc. There was no menu knowledge by staff, only statements like “this item seems to be really popular”. Left after appetizers due to the rough first impression.
Service was very attentive. Food was good, but cocktails were terrible. My friend ordered a Long Island ice tea. It tasted like an Arnold Palmer(tea and lemonade) probably not order drinks her again.
We selected Kona Grill for the fabulous & diverse Happy Hour Menu for a group of 12 prior to a movie at Harkins. The sushi rolls (Caterpillar, coconut shrimp) were excellent, calamari lightly dusted & tender, everyone loved their selection. $1 margaritas were what you’d expect (more like lemonade), but hey, you could have a couple and not sleep thru the movie! Lots of other inexpensive drink options that worked. Happy Hour beef sliders were more than ample. Service was friendly & responsive for a large group. We’re plotting another movie trip that will include Kona!
Food was not in alignment with price. My bill was $115 and the food was worth about $45. I will NEVER go back there. What a waste of money.
good food, good service, exactly as we expect a retaurant to offer.
Great food and service
I made a reservation but we were seated in the mall hallway on a cold day, every time the door opened we caught a very cold breeze of air. There was also a very pronounced odor that smelled like the sewer. The area near Fashion Square is known for sewer odor issues, the restaurant should reconfigure seating to prevent guests from exposure. Our server was not very attentive and let my glass sit empty for over half my meal. There were 5 of us at lunch, only 1 person enjoyed their food.
We appreciated the amazing service from our waiter, Calvin
My wife and I went there for date night and I enjoyed the best Jambalya I've tasted in Phoenix. The butter cake was also pretty darn good. In fact, everything from appetizers to dessert was absolutely delicious. The waitress was on point and genuinely attentive. I love this place.
A day with my BFF - lunch a Kona Grill, movie and shopping. Excellent meal and amazing service. Will be back.
Poor rating is due to us arriving and after sitting in dirty and sticky table and seeing the dirty washroom - we bolted.
The restaurant is very average. Service from our waitress was excellent, but did not make up for the initial presentation when we arrived at the restaurant. The hostess was too busy eating, and texting on her phone to be bothered with customers (7:30 PM on a Saturday night). She clearly could have cared less about customers, presentation of the restaurant, and her job. Was a very poor start to dinner. Not worth going back!
Celebrating our new home. Had wonderful salads with salmon that were the best. We’ll be back!
Great menu variety & selections. We all had something completely different: salads, fried softshell crab sliders, salmon. All the dishes were excellent. We'll return soon!
Menu has a selection that accommodates everyone in your party.
Good meal... wonderfully quiet enough to talk!
Most of the food was good. My son ordered a tuna slider and we had to send it back due to membranes and tendons/cartilage being in the middle of his piece of tuna, rendering it inedible. They brought him a new one which was better. Service was really slow. It was my daughter-in-law’s birthday and I asked if she got a free dessert or anything and the waitress said, “Oh we don’t do that” in a disgusted tone. Seriously? Just about every restaurant does something for birthdays. Also, I ordered a Diet Coke and it was completely flat with no bubbles whatsoever. Service was pleasant but VERY slow and it took forever for the food to come out. It wasn’t even crowded. We used to love coming here but not sure that we’d return. It’s a bit over priced.
