Good food. Great service!
Food was pretty good. We liked the options on the brunch menu. For 2 adults and 2 kids $100 for brunch isn’t uncommon, but we’ve definitely had better. The server was nice but not very attentive.
Great time as always. We frequent this Kona often and I must say the food this last visit was divine. It usually is, but yesterday was truly special! Thank you again and look forward to being back soon.
We the combination of the Oriental salad and the Chicken Pad Thai to be a sterling combination, and we each had enough left over from lunch for supper.
One Order was not correct
One was not served as described
When missin item was delivered- there was a charge for the missing item
Music was awful and way too loud
We will not go there again
Great food, great service from Zachary!
I always thought of this a s primarily a seafood restaurant but I had the best prime rib I ever had there last night. Also, our server who was definitely being over worked was very attentive and efficient.
The Kona Grill staff was very accommodating. Kyla and Ava were the sweetest hostess’ and our servers were great getting all our food out as fast as possible for our party of 16. The food was outstanding and the vibe of the restaurant was wonderful. Definitely will be coming back in the near future.
Food was good, ribs were tuff. Staff was great we will go again. Appetizers were really good, rolls were awesome. Desert was awesome!
There were a total of four people in our reservation.
Two out of four ordered salads, and one ordered sushi for our appetizers.
One salad and the sushi came out. Third one did not get hers until the first two finished theirs because the server for some reason thought she wanted hers as her entree.
Moving on to the entrees. Server comes up to one person in our group and says “your entree is done, do you want me to bring it out?” Confused, but she said yes. The next persons entree came out 15 minutes later. Two of us still do not have our entrees.
20 Minutes later the last two entrees came out. One of the prime ribs was ordered as MR and came out well done.
After ten minutes of waiting the server came back and we asked for a new prime rib. She came back and said the kitchen could not make another one. Manager came over and asked if I wanted anything else. Ended up ordering a filet, which two of our other people got. My lobster butter was completely cold and solid. The other two guests had nice buttery melted butter on their steak.
Even drinks were wrong. Ordered Budweiser, got Bud Lite.
Overall, it was a very unpleasant visit. Surprising since we have been there before and the service was not anywhere near this bad.
Great Service! Food was very good as well. Will return soon.
Loud music all around - not a chill scenario. Very limited for low carb and out of healthy options. Table needed to be wiped down after we were seated as it smelled like beer and leftover food. Waiter Zachary was great - he was in a tough position. I think there’s some ‘behind the scenes’ issues here.
Everything was great but the music was so loud it was difficult to hear each other on the patio.
Great food, attentive service. Recommended for laid back lunch
The calamari starter was not good. Over cooked and very dry and tough. The entree salads we had were excellent.
One of the best little secrets is the cucumber side dish. Order with any of the fabulous sushi rolls.
My wife and me, along with two of our friends went to the Sarasota, FL location last night for dinner. We were cordially greeted at the host station at our reserved time. We were immediately shown to our booth, and greeted soon thereafter by our waitress. She took our drink orders and then gave us a few minutes to peruse the menu. Three meals were returned at the same time, with mine taking a bit longer to come out. The pork chop dinner was too hard and dry to cut with a table knife, and a steak knife barely did the job. In other words it inedible. The manager stopped by the table to inquire about our meal, and I was the only one to express my disappointment. He promptly gave me a menu, gave me a minute to change my order, which he rushed through the kitchen. He returned with the Macadamia Nut Chicken, that was outstanding....Please lose the pork chops. Overall it was a great night with wonderful people and service.
It was our first time there. Very impressed! Will definitely be back. And our waiter Sebastian did a great job and the manager came around and was very helpful in making sure we were very taken care of!!
My boyfriend loved the steak And said it was the best he ever had. The shrimp and crab roll was delicious as well. My son had a kid plate with the hamburgers and it was really cool that they turned the orange into some sort of fox and he said it was really good. They have a sauce for the french fries I forgot what it’s called but I really enjoyed it too. Overall though I’ll be on to his grades customer service was OK and the food was a 20 out of 10.
Except for the brownie we honestly didn’t care for it too much because it was really hard on the outside and even the inside. It took a while to find the soft pieces. The ice cream in the Caramell and chocolate was really good though.
The overall experience at Kona Grill was “average.” There were quite a few things we noticed about the restaurant that could improve:
1) The hostesses seemed to be easily irritated by anyone and everyone arriving as evidenced by the constant eye rolling. A piece of advice, ladies...even if the people you are helping cannot see the faces you are making, the customers behind them can. Be professional!
2) Every table was either sticky or shaky. We had to move three times because every table we sat at wasn’t balanced. On top of that, the tables were sticky. It was like they were wiped down with the same rag and nobody used any soap in between. This does not create a pleasant experience for guests.
3) Serve the food! We had to ask for our food from our server. We waited a good 30-35 minutes for our appetizer which was sitting there waiting to be served and was lukewarm at best once we received it. Additionally, we only received our appetizer when we were being served our entree and told the server we didn’t get our appetizer. She then proceeded to take our entrees from us once she had already started to serve them so she could bring us our appetizers. The logic behind that is lost on me.
The saving grace of this place was the food. We had the Picasso Roll and the Peppered Tuna Tataki rolls which were both delicious. The avocado rolls were great as well but would have probably been better had they been served warm.
I’d recommend this place if you are already inside the mall looking for somewhere to eat but I wouldn’t go out of my way to make a reservation to dine there. The staff really needs to learn better etiquette for dealing with the public.
Absolutely horrible dining experience! The food was awful no taste and came out cold, the whole experience felt like everyone working there was wishing they were anyplace else than working!! Don’t waste your time or money at Kona Grill there are many many wonderful restaurants in Sarasota!!
All of the food was very good. My poke bowl was sooooo good! Word of advice...a lot of their foods have a lot of spice. If you are spice sensitive, ask before you order. The poke bowl is spicy and my daughter got Mac and cheese and had to send it back. It was so spicy. It looked like there was cayenne pepper sprinkled on it. Otherwise, the food is good and good ambiance. It is a little pricey, but everything is more expensive right now.
Food was fair. Service was OK. Brought the salad out with the main dinner instead of early. Music very loud.
Meal was good! Decent value for what we paid.
Service and food was terrible. The waitress was trying to do her job just no support from manager or team. We had a party of 7 waitress had to bring food by herself two at a time. My steak was not cooked properly. I went to the Kona Grill in Chicago they had amazing food and service. So for Mother’s Day I decided to take the family to the Kona Grill in Sarasota and it was terrible.
It has a pretty good vibe, but the food and the price don’t equate. If I’m going to spend that much I’d rather go to capitol grill. The menu is overpriced. Plenty of good quality restaurants with better food that is worth paying the amount. Kona Grill took me by surprise with the price.
may have been because of Mothers' Day but service was very slow. Ordered coffee and desert for instance and got the desserts finished the desserts and still waited on coffee.
Food was very good but for the price the sushi rolls were not sufficient. Had to order sides to make up the difference. Glad we found it and will go back as the menu did offer a good variety of options.
Great waiter, we went for the brunch but at 11 they said it was over! They opened at 10 and the website said 11, so we couldn’t get outside. Our waiter came back and said the staff was mistaken and brunch was on. It was delicious so this made up for the confusion.
Great service and delicious meals
Food was really good a bit on the pricey end. Service was excellent. I had the sea bass and it was delicious.
Went for a birthday celebration and we had a fantastic evening. Food, Drinks, and service were above par! Thank You!
Food is just “ok” and definitely overpriced - spend your money elsewhere.
Andy, come in during our Happy Hour Monday-Friday from 2pm-6pm and all day on Sunday. Our pricing is from $3.00-$9.00. You will see the value is great. Thank you and have a wonderful day.
Kona is amazing! The food is fabulous and the staff are wonderful! We go to Kona most Friday nights. Love it!
Marley, Thank you for the 5 star review! See you on Friday and please introduce yourself to one of the Managers. Thank you again and have a wonderful day.
Food was delicious and large servings.
Thank you for the great comments! Hope next time we can give u 5 star service!
Food was great and our waiter Montana was fabulous. We had a fun night.
Excellent. Noisy inside but we sat outside and it was perfect. Went for UTC dining special. Great value.
I thought there was a little attitude at the hostess stand by one of the hostess.. Very busy so that could have been it. Past service was very good. Food has always been very good.
We went to Kona for our anniversary dinner. Our server was attentive and helpful. The food and drinks were delicious.
Good service and good Asian cuisine.... will go back
The food was awesome and the drinks were too! I love the brunch vibes there! the dj was great!
