Kona Grill - San Antonio Ratings and Reviews
This restaurant was very loud and hard to talk to anyone at the table. The menu was very limited but overal the food was great. I was very unhappy with my waiter as he barley checked up on us and was very rude when he did. I will not be dining here again because of my bad experience with the waiter.
Went here for our 25th anniversary.
Service was good. The waitress was attentive and pleasant. She promptly fixed an issue with the food.
Food was ok, but nothing special. For the price, we expected to be wowed by the food, but it was just ok. The mashed potatoes were cold on both steaks but I was able to get some hot after telling the waitress. They had a slightly odd taste. The mixed veggies were non-descript and bland. The steak was cooked as ordered but my daughter and I both thought Outback was better. Overall, the food was not bad but certainly nothing we would come back for, especially for the prices.
It was fairly noisyeven though we were in the back and there were only 3 tables occupied while we were there. Most people were at the bar or outside, but we had a hard time hearing the other people at our table.
We ordered the ny strip, kona filet, pad thai, a sushi roll and kona burger. That plus 2 beers and 2 sodas was $140.
Service is very poor. On two occasions that our group decided to arrive early for happy hour, I felt like the waiters wouldn't acknowledge us until we'd get their attention. Then once we were seated for dinner, again we were ignored until I asked for a waiter 😠. This kind of service is not appreciated, especially when you have some elderly friends in our group that can't tolerate long waiting periods. At this point, we're not really sure that we feel comfortable going back 🙄🤔
Overall the food was great. Dinner for two was just over $45 with a small appetizer. Our waitress was excellent and very attentive. The la cantera location is very nice inside and out. Several seating options to choose from; booths, tables, sushi bar. The tuna sashimi was outstanding and I will be going back.
First visit. Very clean restaurant, great service. Prices a little higher than average for this type of cuisine, but perhaps excusable considering the "high rent" area. Food was very good...just over-priced as stated. Atmosphere was more for 'shoppers' &/or business than for a friendly or family dining experience.
Like a silk hat on a pig , on every large screen tv , there was martial arts boxing . So appetizing to see people get beat up and bleed during what could have been an elegant outing .
We were t given napkins till we asked for them .
Food was excellent and beautifully presented and fresh .
Service was attractive but rushed and frenzied . More pinache could be used .
We might try it again .
Food was great! Our server wasn't very attentive nor did she seemed interested in us whatsoever. Another thing I noticed was in my sisters old fashioned there was a sticker on her orange peel. Now this can be something the bartender may have not seen but it tells me that they don't wash or properly clean their fruit before just putting it in the cocktails they serve. It was probably just an off night but for a frequent customer I was very disappointed.
My boyfriend and I went here for our anniversary because we didn't want something too fancy. It was great, he said it was some of the best sushi he'd tried. I got a pasta dish and it was wonderful, I thought I would take it home and enjoy the rest later but I ended up eating it in the car. Good place to eat for a date or fun with some friends after shopping. Overall just a nice place.
I love Kona Grill. It's one of my favorites. Tonight I ordered my usual without the pork in my rice and they brought me bacon in my vegetables. I didn't know that I'd have to tell them be sure not to put bacon in anything. I know the vegetable varies by night. However, the veggies don't normally have bacon in them. It took over an hour to receive my food. However, that plate and the other plate with bacon was complimented via the manager. I'm glad she did that, I would have been extremely disappointed with any other service. From now on I need to specify no pork in anything!!!
The only fault I could find with Kona is that it was very noisy. Otherwise, it was wonderful. This would be a good place to go for sushi if not everyone in your group likes sushi. While the sushi menu is extensive and authentic, there is also a full (and tasty) non-sushi menu to choose from. We enjoyed our meal immensely and will definitely go back. The manager and waitress were great, and didn't hesitate to fulfill our request for a special order.
Went for Restaurant Week, enjoyed the selection for appetizer and entree, but wish there was more than one choice for desert. Still, the macadamia chicken was tender, with a light crisp breading, and the butter cake was soft and sweet with a crunchy sugar sprinkled crust.
The service was very good. The food was overall ok, very expensive but nothing particularly exciting. The drinks were overpriced and watered down. The restroom was absolutely filthy. I ran into the hostess on the way out and told her the restroom needs attention, her response, "Ew I know!"
The highlight was the great server. She was attentive and friendly. If it wasn't for her, I would've been very disappointed.
New Years Eve 2016...not too crowded, but service was adequate at best. Asked to turn fireplace on three times, each time I was told they would turn it on in just a moment. Never happened. Food was decent, a bit pricey for what we had. Went through three choices of salad dressing before finally getting one they weren't out of and then, they still brought the wrong one. Willing to try again.
Despite the fact that this a large chain restaurant, the food was quite good. Everyone in the party enjoyed their choices. The creme brulee was especially good. The restaurant is quite noisy, but we had the booth in the corner and that helped quite a bit. We didn't have to wait long for the food.
