   We visited for my husband's birthday on March 28th, 2019. The waitress was not friendly, had an attitude and was not considerate, even knowing it was my husband's birthday she did not say happy birthday or make it special not one bit. She never brought the waters we requested and was not attentive at all. We complained to the manager whom offered a free cake with candles for my husband. The food was outstanding which will make us return. All the menu offerings sound delicious and can't wait to try next time. The ambiance was awesome and will recommend it to family & friends.

   I was surprised to find out that this restaurant was a chain. I did not look at the menu. If I had I may have changed my mind. I was looking for a Japanese restaurant and technically this is not. It does have some Asian inspired dishes. The food was pretty good so it waved away some of my disappointment. We had the avocado egg rolls and the dumplings. They were good. My salmon entrée was good but my family wasn't that impressed with the sushi dishes. The interior of the restaurant is generic. Except for the fish tank it looks like most chain restaurants. If you are looking for a family place with decent prices and a menu that has a bit of an Asian flair but is really American this place will work for you.

   Steve at the bar was tremendous. Great service and fun experience. Know bar happy hour is incredible in terms of great sushi and apps at great prices. Best quality and deal in town.

   Did not have enough servers for after the parade. Even if it's not usually a busy day you need to use common sense and hire enough staff for after a parade or event. We had a reservation and still had to wait 30 min. bc not enough servers. Then when we sat down the server took forever and wasn't apologetic, empathetic, or personable. I understand they were understaffed and busy but to not apologize to the customer about the wait and then have barely interact with us is just really surprising. this hasn't happened before. The food did come fast and it was fine, little salty. She did not check on us, I asked for straws and she said she would get them and never did. We ordered chili and it never came even after asking a few times. We then had to ask 2 more times for her to get it and bring it to the table to go. Again, no apology, no comp for the inconvenience since he didn't even get to eat what he ordered. Very disappointed and the menu changed a lot. This has never happened I don't know what changed since we went last. We also didn't like to see that the tomato soup is off the menu.

   Terrible service . Unprofessional . Made reservations that weren’t acknowledged . When we walked in the restaurant the waiters just stared at us before asking us anything. After we finished dining there the girl at the front was busy taking selfies before she could say goodbye . Also when asking about customization to an order they were very dismissive and said no right away instead of finding out with the restaurant if they could. Wasn’t pleased at all.     Waiter Steve was good - but seemed that he was the only person actually doing any work. Everyone else was standing around - and it was dead at 7:30 on a friday night. Are they going out of business? Our table was filthy when we sat down - not sure why since only about 6 tables in the entire restaurant were occupied - should have plenty of time to bus and clean tables. Long time to get drinks, no napkin or silverware when food was dropped off and had to flag someone down to get it just to eat our meal. Miso sea bass was supposed to be a specialty - tasted like very strong ammonia. Sent it back. Tuna was better. Portion sizes were ok. uninspiring, not at all a memorable experience. So many restaurant choices in and around Stamford - they need to step it up. My first and last time there.

    My only concern was that the hostess said they didn't have my reservation. The restaurant wasn't bust at the time so it was fine. But if it was busy it definitely would have impacted our plans.

    The food and the drinks were all excellent - we especially enjoyed the flights of sake, never had that before! We were a table of 10 and practically alone in the restaurant (on Father's Day) so I can't speak to the normal noise level, but for us it was fine. Our waiter, unfortunately, didn't know how to deal with a large table at all - he had a soft voice with an accent and kept standing on one far end of the table, trying to address everyone. We had to tell him multiple times to circle the table so we could interact with him more effectively, and then once he'd taken our orders and delivered our food he basically never came back until it was time for dessert. This in an empty restaurant! I'm not sure what else he had to do. But, the food and drinks were all great, and if you get a good server it would be worth a visit.

    Service was slow, food took way too long to come out, and half our table got their food while the other half had to wait. The restaurant was empty, so that should have been a sign. Will not go back for lunch, especially a business lunch.

    - My food was fine (Maca Nut Chicken and Avoc Rolls). It is always reliable and lovely - The Sushi/Sashimi combo plate that two of my colleagues had was actually not good - they said the fish did not taste as fresh and the slices of fish were too thick. - Service was slow - getting my credit card back so we could leave was VERY slow.

    Very nice business lunch. Nice variety of options on the menu to suit all. Asian fusion plus even a burger on the menu. I had sushi which was very good, nice presentation. Good service!

    Brought shared appetizer to table without plates or flatware. Had to ask to ask for water 3 times, eventually got two glasses each. Waiter must have been trainee at best- persons who brought food from kitchen had to handle his omissions. The sea bass, supposedly a specialty there, had an unusual texture for sea bass and a taste of ammonia. I wouldn’t advise going there if someone wants an entree. Maybe the small plates and appetizers are better. But I won’t be back.

    Kona Grill was amazing! We went before a show at the Palace Theater - had a 6:45 PM reservation (with the show at 8) and we let the server know we were in a little bit of a rush. It was no problem - they brought everything out together like we requested and everything was amazing! Kona Grill offers a little bit of everything - definitely try the Smoked Gouda Fondue for an app! The flatbreads were awesome too! Overall a great experience...cocktails were also great! Will definitely be back (and we traveled 45 minutes for the show but would definitely go back just for dinner).

    Had a reservation for 8 yet the table was not setup when I arrived - and the restaurant was not very busy. Why make a reservation is the table is not ready? Also three or us had a problem with our order as far as the wrong items or ingredients. The staff was very nice and apologetic however. But for an almost empty restaurant, I don't understand why it was so difficult to have a table ready and get our orders right.

    Sadly, it appears Kona Grill has not yet reached bottom, but continues to slide. The Kona Chopped salad is about 25% smaller than originally, with no bacon in sight and some of the chicken came in large pieces, so we could do the cutting. As others noted, sushi prep takes forever. Since they are probably at the top end of their competitive price range, they are reducing quality and quantity. Mitchell's, PF Chang's and Cosi have left this strip entering the Stamford Mall, I fear Kona will be next. Apparently the discount apps and half price wine nights may be the only things keeping them afloat.

    Its an interesting menu with something to please everyone. The restaurant wasn't crowded at all and our service was slow, which was okay because we were there to linger. But not when we wanted our coffee at the end of the meal. The booth seats have little cushion left in them so little that one of our friends had to use a couple coats to sit on. They are a sushi place and don't offer brown rice - surprised. Waitress mentioned we were the 3rd person to ask that day.

    I've been there many times in the past and have loved it. This time, however, it was terrible. The cleanliness at the table was poor - the table was dirty and sticky, the place mats had food in them and were sticky. Our waiter tried to clean everything, but our arms were still sticking to the table. (yuck). They changed the menu - fine, but paired ratatouille (French) with Asian style sea bass and fried rice. Bizarre. The ambiance was nice - eating outside on a beautiful night and nice outside lighting. The waiter disappeared and we had to track him down a few times--for our drink order (& we only got 2 of 4 drinks ordered), appetizer order, etc. We debated leaving - service took forever and it was embarrassing to have guests along to a restaurant we recommended with the experience so poor..

    I did not care for the macadamia nut chicken- the chicken tasted old and brined and had a lot of cartilage. My companion enjoyed his entree very much. Sushi was good. Overall I would not go back, but maybe I picked the wrong featured dish.

    As always the food was outstanding! Our server did a great job by keeping us informed but unfortunately she had to do quite a bit of apologizing for things taking a long time to come out. It was not even 1/3 full so I don't understand the problems. First our three drinks from the bar took a very long time. 1 Sangria and two margaritas (not frozen). The sushi bar was understaffed because they had to apologize to us and another table about the long wait for sushi. The hot apps and the entrees were spot on. We could not have enjoyed them more. The last course was a problem again. The desserts were fantastic but we asked for 3 double espressos with a shot of Frangelica in each. Apparently the espressos sat on the bar until the bartender got around to pouring the shots in and by the time they got to the table they were cold. This place has been around for a long time. That is a rookie mistake that I don't understand. Bring the shots to the table then bring the hot espresso with the desserts. We will go back because of the food. Hopefully the service will improve.

    The noise level was unbearable. For that reason alone I would not recommend Kona Grill. Our server was great. I had a spice problem with the chicken potstickers and there was no problem with getting an alternative dish. I guess it's great if you're into the bar scene.

    Good food but service could be better. We had a friendly waiter who disappeared. One of our party members has a gluten allergy that he revealed prior to ordering, and rather than substitute a gluten free option for the sauce that accimpanied the Kona filet, the waiter simply told our friend not to eat it. When asked he then went into the kitchen and the chef prepared a gluten free subsitute of the same sauce. It took awhile and the meal was almost finished by that time. The salmon with rice was good but the accompanying bok choy was chewy and hard to cut. The sushi a neighboring diner had looked good. We sat outside as it was nice. The iron chairs scrape horribly. There must be a way to muddle the sound.

    Afternoon lunch and drinks with the girls to celebrate a birthday started with Happy Hour! The time then switched to regular priced menu, but still worth it. All the food is delicious. Our waitress, Danielle, was very kind and approachable. Food, drinks and dessert was amazing!
