Kona Grill - Omaha
The service was slow. It took a while to get drinks.
Great dinner / too loud. Had the best server ever.
Loved the food.
Great service and a delicious variety of food and flavors. Our server was excellent.
Unfortunately the Happy Hour menu is limited to the bar and even with reservations a substantial wait so we opted for the more expensive restaurant seating.
Make sure to try the Happy Hour menu in the bar or patio. The deals and the food is amazing. You may have to wait since there are no reservations for those areas and it it loud, but the 5 dollar menu gives you plenty of options to try different things. The sliders and flatbread are excellent.
I noted that our service was poor because our server checked on us one time the entire time we were there. He never once refilled our drinks or asked us if we would like another drink.
We waited a very long time for our food to be served after we ordered. But it was really tasty when we did get it.
Our waiter was great. Food was great. However we asked for a high top so we could have our group be part of the happy hour and we were told we had to sit at the bar to be able to have it and we can wait 90 min if we wanted to do that which was AFTER happy hour would have ended. Hostesses were not kind.
Great food, really good service. Happy Hour is awesome, though never tried it, but judging by the crowd at the bar!!!!!
Everyone enjoyed their meal/ a nice get together on New Year’s Eve day!
The problem was with the delay in sushi and seafood meal ordered by my daughter. My wife and I were almost done eating by the time her food arrived.
Was very crowded and they were way understaffed. Was charged for meals we didn’t order and we barely saw our waitress
Food is consistently good at Kona Grill. Love their poke bowl.
We had some of our favorite rolls and got a couple that our waiter suggested. Great experience and great service!
I reserved online. We wanted happy hour prices so the girls hurried and found a table for us in the bar without having to wait. Very nice>
Been here many times, first time it was not great. Service good but food slow to arrive and not up to norm.
Fantastic service. Rudeen was amazing! Manager was fantastic. Not one little complaint. Can’t wait to go back!!
Our food took forever. They apologized and gave us a free dessert but we had our two granddaughters with us and they were getting upset.
Unfortunately we didn’t have the best experience at Kona this time. Some of the food was really good but some of it wasn’t. The flank steak was overly seasoned and the taste of the beef was really lost. Oddly, it was also served in 2 pieces and it wasn’t sliced across the grain like you’d typically expect. Our service was slow too. Our glasses were dirty. We didn’t have something that we could drink until about 30 minutes after our arrival. Our server was super nice but he seemed too busy to properly serve his tables.
Kona is always good. That’s why we keep coming back. Love the potstickers and my salmon was great!
Excellent food and service. Our waiter has a great sense of humor and was very attentive.
Love Kona! They have several items to choose from on the kid's menu. They also have gluten free options which is a must for me!
I signed up for Kona Rewards because I was offered a free up to $12 value sushi roll. When I get to Kona Grill, where I haven't been since I lived in Omaha a handful of years ago, I order 2 sushi rolls to share, and my date orders the half Filet (description doesn't allude to it being a fish filet instead of a typical steak filet). Because I happened to be there on a Thursday - I got to choose one sushi roll off the Thursday menu which came with a glass of saki with it. When I went to pay, the server told me I could not use my rewards coupon because I was already receiving one of my sushi rolls at a discounted rate being that it was a Thursday. The bill for 2 people racked up to over $70 for minimal meal choices between the both of us. This was disappointing to me that the employees are not at all aiming to please their customers and have out of towners want to return to the establishment.
2 birthday celebrations
Interesting menu items without the usual choices, a little on the noisy side, food was ok, service was pretty good. All in all a little pricey for the result, I guess I expected more for the money. They had to make my wife's entree twice for some reason but she was not given an explanation why. When it finally arrived it was so spicy she couldn't eat it. And there was nothing in the menu saying it was spicy at all. There are other items on the menu I would like to try but my wife probably won't go back with me.
Tried a couple of the new flatbreads. Delicious!
The host sat us at a dirty table, then told us we could go back to stand in the front waiting room if we wanted to. We were walked back to the waiting area and quickly forgotten about.
Ordered different sushi’s, very bland for sushi and pricey for the quality.
Our order came out wrong, and was greeted with a sigh from the server.
Overall, I would not return. The lack of quality/taste of the food was not worth the price or the experience.
Erik was our server and he did an outstanding job of making us feel welcome. He engaged in conversation with us and took the initiative to be our server when he noticed that we had been seated a while and hadn't been acknowledged by any of the wait staff. While the wait could have caused frustration for us, Erik's willingness to step in and offer assistance and continue to provide service throughout the meal made with evening very enjoyable. Thank you Erik!
I like the large booth when we have our grandchildren with us. The menu satisfies the varied appetites. Our server was wonderful.
Awesome as always! Excellent service and great sushi options.
So I’ve always gone to Kona for special occasions like homecoming, prom, or even date night. But on 10/6/18 I ate there with 4 people. 2 didn’t have sushi then my friend Kylie and I did. Now both Kylie and I are sitting in our beds with foodpoisoning. I used to think that this was a great place to eat but that has now changed. If I go back, I’m never eating their sushi again. :)
We had a wonderful time!! We love Kona so much! You guys will forever be a tradition of ours. We look forward to coming again! Thank you so much for making our Anniversary so special
Our table was ready, right on time. Super friendly and great waitress. Sushi bar was running a little behind but the waitress kept us updated on that (which is much appreciated!) Food was delicious. Great experience!
The drinks and food were great! The price points are high though.
Great great food!!!!! Menu change has been awesome!!!!!
Dainik experience was excellent food was excellent but you could have way too many people who have had much to too much to drink and so it became very loud the table next to us was so loud that the two of us couldn’t even hear each other speaking other than that it was a wonderful place to eat
We were given a gift certificate by our neighbor and thought we would go for fish. My husband had the Hawaiian fish and I had the salmon. Both meals were very good. A salad doesn’t come with the meal, and we didn’t opt to have one.
Overall, the food was pretty good. We mainly ordered sushi and most of the rolls were delicious. Only one wasn't that great.
I was a little disappointed in Kona Grill since the last time I had been there. I went Sunday with my boyfriend and my family for birthday. Their appetizers were small and they no longer serve onion rings, which were my favorite. And nearly every table had an order of those. I always get the Macadamian Nut Chicken, which had this absolutely delicious cheese and sweet marmalade with it. Well the cheese cause isn't as good now. And the dish is $5 more expensive. Not sure why you would change something that worked so well together and was an absolute homerun of a dish. But they did. My dad and brother's steak was tough. My mom loved her sea bass but said the rice was undercooked and crunchy. And the biggest disappointment of all was they took my favorite dessert (the crème brulee) off of their menu too. However, the carrot cake was a nice and tasty surprise and redeemed the menu a little.
Overall, our service was excellent. But our waitress said they changed the menu about a month ago and it definitely wasn't a change for the better. The last time I went there was roughly 9-10 months ago and they were packed. That night for dinner, I think it was 1/4th full. And I can see why. If Kona keeps this mediocre menu, they will be closing soon.
We had reservations and were seated right away. Other members of our party thought the restaurant had a funny smell. When I mentioned Happy Hour the waitress was at the table and told us it did not apply to seating in the dining room. Website states all day Happy Hour, does not specify where you have to sit. There were 8 adults and 1-5 year old...we wanted the air condition not patio or area where sun would be. Food was just not up to par, whole party agreed to be so-so. We did have someone come check on us and my daughter did not like her sandwich at all so he took that off the bill. I did make the suggestion to him about specifying on their website the Happy Hour issue for others in the future. For the price, we won't go back again.
Our Waitress was Haily and she might’ve been the most amazing individual ever, loved her. The food was okay ig but 10/10 would return for Haily.
