Kona Grill - Omaha
The food at Kona is always very good. As has been the norm with our recent experiences, service was not great. Took quite a while to even get our order in. My drink never got refilled until a manager came and asked if there was anything we needed. This was after asking our server for a refill twice. For the price, service should be much better. This is our third visit in a row where service has been lackluster.
Great food, great service! Only suggestion is to bring back Templeton Rye.
Their system to open table had been down all day so they didn’t have our reservation. Had to sit in patio area or wait 30 min. They should have turned off the access rather than have people show up who thought red was confirmed.
The food and service were good, but their AC was not working well at all and the whole place was an inferno. They also said their Open Table reservation system was down and they didn't have our reservation, but they seated us quickly anyway. A comped drink or something would've been nice for the inconveniences.
dinks a bit high but tasted good
would recommend reservations
Food was delicious. Server did a great job. We will be coming back soon!
Our server was really great. He asked the right questions, checked in at the right times and the frequency was ideal. I believe my Oriental salad was in too small of a plate and wasn't mixed at all. Also, $11 for a sale made of mostly cabbage is way too steep. It did taste good though.
Horrible rude. Terrible food
Over priced drinks
STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS.
THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE !!!!!!!!!!!!
Two of us got sick after eating here.

The patio was a great spot to dine with friends. Relatively quiet and uncrowded.
My salmon was either overcooked or just tough. The sprouts were drenched in too much sauce. The stir fry was not great. Very loud, hard to have a discussion. We booked in advance and were seated quickly. Service was slow, the waiter apologized a few times, but we weren't in a hurry. Fyi, happy hour is not in regular seating area, must be on patio, reservation won't seat you there. No biggie for us. Maybe would have been a different experience? Food was not great and atmosphere was not great. Also a weird smell in the restaurant...
We waited an hour for our food, our server messed up the order, then waited another hour for our checks.
Any other time I have been to Kona I would then turn around and recommend it to a friend. However, this last time at Kona was very undeserving of a recommendation. Our waitress was great while my husband and I waited for our other guests to arrive. Once they arrived it was as though the waitress forgot about our table. We order our food and the salads came out 30 min later. *our waitress didn’t bring out the salads. Then after another 45 min of waiting I finally went up to the bar to see if our waitress was still even working. We hadn’t seen her since she took our order. Right when I went to the bar our waitress then appeared and our food was delivered. The food was cold and not fresh. Not sure what happened that evening, but I was extremely disappointed in the service.
As always I love the food at Kona! However this time our service was quite poor. Our appetizer came at the same time as our meal and we couldn’t find our server several times when we needed things. We waited a long time to find her to get our check when we had been done eating 10-15 min. She was also not knowledgeable on the menu. I asked her what something was and she told me it was like a noodle. When I got it it was a vegetable. But it was still delicious so I didn’t care!
Mother’s Day was fabulous!
The blond host up front at the podium needs some customer service skills. She was overwhelmed with people walking in without reservations and bad mouthed a family that got seated before us when the waitress came back to ask if the family could push two tables together. As the first exposure to the restaurant and service, Kona needs to rethink who they put upfront to greet and “host” customers. Otherwise. Food and wait staff was fantastic as always.
Food and service was great!
Great as usual. Got right in, waiter fast and friendly. Food was great
My wife and I took our daughter and 10 of her friends to Kona for her 16th birthday. We sat at a different table. Our server and our daughter’s server did a fantastic job. Before we got to Kona we weren’t sure how responsive our daughter’s server would be with a large group of teenagers. He went above and beyond our expectations. Our daughter said he was very kind and attentive. Thank you for the great experience.
My birthday dinner but only made better time this is not what
Great kids meals
We were there at open on Easter Sunday. We had a reservation at 11 am and there was no one else there yet. As we walked in she very rudely waited for the 7 of us to get in the door and said "I need to lay this rug DOWN". Um, ok! We are not in your way, just walking in the door.
We requested the patio. The hostess took us to our table, which was the only high top in the patio by the bar. We had grandparents and 3 kids in our party and my mom is disabled. I explained that my mom wasn't able to get up on that size stool, and could we please move 2 tables together instead. Her response was that we could swap out a bar stool instead. Again, that won't work for my mom. In a huff she said "Ugh, I have to go get my manager!" It really wasn't a big deal we just wanted 2 of the 20 regular sized available tables moved together as I've seen done a million times before and we offered to do it ourselves.
That said our waiter was FABULOUS, attentive, kind, and the food and happy hour was wonderful. Easter lunch at Kona is our tradition!
Just get rid of that crabby hostess, people aren't always asking for thing just to annoy. :)
Everyone was friendly including our server but she really didn’t give us great service. The food was good but pricey. They definitely need blinds on the west windows. If your sitting in certain areas when the sun is going down you’ll get blinded till it drops into the horizon. Noise level was moderate no complaints there. Overall was ok but there’s plenty of other places in town I’d go to before going back.
Awesome food! Great service!
It was awesome!!
Excellent service and food was perfect
Good stuff filled me up was very happy with service and food
Great food and drinks. It was extremely hot though. I’m not sure if AC was working or not.
I love their food and the waiter was super nice! It was the greeter that did not explain how the happy hour worked. And she rushed us as we asked questions about it. We paid full price but we wanted to do the happy hour. For this to be a Hawaiian inspired restaurant, the Aloha spirit was definitely lacking.
Made a reservation for 6 and a high chair and they tried to sit us at a booth. Then we’re told that if we wanted to sit a table we had to be done eating and out by a certain time. Very unprofessional and rude. Not a good first impression. Food was ok wish I was told more about the favorites.
The hostess was rude to us and that continued on to our server. Our table and the other table in our section talked about how everything seemed like an inconvenience.
Service was a little slo but it was busy. Food was great and had no problem with our reservation. Was seated almost immediately.
Great food and service. Dining room was a bit noisy.
Great food and great menu
The food was great. Some of the choices were a tad on the pricey side. Normally I don't mind if the food is good (it was) and the ambiance is OK (not really). Our hostess and her assistants ran back and forth 3 or 4 times before finally settling on a table for us - which turned out to be a booth. For the six of us - it really wasn't enough room to sit comfortably.
Our server was new and was not able to help make food selections on every dish (she was OK on some). She was friendly and did a nice job overall. I think for me - the worst part was we were a party of six and even though we had made a reservation - they put us into a wide booth. When we asked about a table - we were told that was all that was available to us. With the noise level and the seating arrangement - I felt like I was at an Applebee's and not at a finer establishment. Based on the Applebee's vibe I would say the dishes were overpriced.
I highly recommend Kona Grill! I Ate at Kona Grill twice while I was there visiting and it was Amazing. The food tasted great, the service awesome and the atmosphere was perfect. I give this place a thumbs up and I will definitely be coming back to visit
Disappointed. I don't want explain, but you will miss us. Kona is down and they need to update the restaurant, food and service.
Why does one have to ask for silverware? #needtraining
However I would have to warn them not to make reservations and then expect to get the happy hour items. Your website does not state that you have to eat in the lounge or bar. We went expecting to buy $5 Cheeseburger Sliders and ended up having to pay full price!!!! We were not at all happy
Staff was very courteous and being some of the only customers in the restaurant during the snow storm made the night amazing. Staff was attentive and not pushy about leaving. It made my wife’s birthday unforgettable. We will be back again for sure in the near future.
