I was extremely disappointed. Food was just okay. Portions were small. Pricing was ridiculous. Over $550 for 6 people! Only 1 cocktail per person and no dessert. What!? I normally don’t complain but seriously would never go back again.

Happy was good. The food tasty. I wish they were consistent with the same appetizers. Some are golden brown and when you order a second one of the same thing, it’s overcooked. Service was excellent! We love Kona.

First time visiting Kona Grill. Restaurant was pretty busy. Waitress took a bit to make it to our table, but not unreasonably. We ordered our drinks-beer for me, water for my husband. Waters were then brought and my beer a couple minutes later. We placed our appetizer and entree orders at the same time. Edamame for appetizer and sushi & salad (x2) for entrees. Edamame was served relatively quickly. My beer glass sat empty. Entrees arrived and I asked the waitress for a refill. Bar was SUPER busy, took probably a good 7-10 minutes to get my beer, so entrees were mostly completed by the time it arrived. Overall experience was good considering the amount of people in the restaurant. I will definitely dine here again.

The food was mediocre and extremely over priced. A Spicy Tuna sushi roll cost $19, anywhere else the same size roll would be $10-12. We could have gone to a high end restaurant for the same amount of money.

Great food. Very busy. Happening atmosphere so not the place if you want a quiet meal. They made a couple of mistakes - bringing an extra alcoholic drink and the wrong salad. However, we didn’t have to pay for either so they took care of it. The meatballs, jalapeño yellowtail sashimi, and ribeye were amazingly delicious. Highly recommend and would go back.

Food and service were great. The vibe, noise and value are a different story. The prices are high considering portion size and location. a $25 pasta dish would be larger and include protein EVEN located in downtown Chicago.

We had the power lunch which was excellent. Our server was so pleasant and professional. Of course, the carrot cake was delicious! We will return! Not a complaint but a comment. We did not like using a tablet to view the menu and to pay the bill. If this is the only option, then the server needs to wipe the tablet in front of the customers so we know that it’s clean. Thank you.

Met with some family on a Monday night. Wanted to spend some time catching up. The music was very loud (especially considering it was a quiet Monday night). I asked the server if it was possible to lower the volume & they did. Lighting is very bright & a little harsh. Doesn’t give a relaxing vibe. I ordered a sushi roll. It was about 8 pieces for $24, which I thought was absurd. I expressed my surprise to the waiter & he offered to bring the menu so I could order something else. I told him I would keep the roll since they had already made it. Unfortunately, probably won’t dine there again.

The prime rib and shrimp were delicious as were the sliders and chicken satay. The butter cake is very unusual and extra tasty and unique. Great atmosphere and very very good service as well as great food.

Made a Saturday evening reservation. Haven't been here in ten years. We arrived right at our reservation time and were seated right away. Server came over pretty quick. I ordered wine and my husband got a mixed drink. Drinks came quick. Restaurant was very loud. Felt like we were at the club, which we weren't mad at, but it was hard to talk. The food was the big problem. Our server asked us if there were any allergies. We said yes, avocado. I ordered a sushi roll as an app and specifically asked if it could be made with no avocado. She said yes, and it came without any. Then we ordered our entrees. My son got the kids bento box with chicken tenders, fries, and mashed potatoes. The chicken tender and mashed potatoes were cardboard. Terribly overcooked and dry. He said the fries were really good. My husband ordered the surf and turf ($48) with filet and a lobster roll (which was a $3 up charge). We thought this was going to be a small or half lobster roll as in the sandwich. It wasn't. It was a sushi roll complete with avocado, which we were very clear was an allergy. Actually, our waitress was the one who specifically asked if there were any allergies. Anyway, that was a joke. I ordered the pad Thai ($29) and added shrimp for a $6 up charge. The pad Thai was TERRIBLE. I didn't enjoy it at all. In fact, I didn't eat much of it and didn't take the rest home. It belonged in the trash. The shrimp as the best part of the entree but was those tiny little cheapo shrimp. So sad. Needless to say, we WON'T be back. Our bill with tip was $200 and the food sucked. No thanks.

We wanted to try Kona Grill to celebrate my wife's birthday because we thoroughly enjoyed our last visit. Unfortunately, this version does not resemble our previous experience a while ago. The incredibly loud, repetitive music forced us to talk needlessly loud just to hear each other. We did get a booth, as requested in the OT reservation but there was no mention of my wife's birthday, which was noted in the "special occasion" section of the reservation. Not a big deal. But what is the purpose of bothering to note it, if she wasn't even going to get at least a "Happy Birthday". The food was very good; decent portions, though macadamia chicken, good as it was, seemed overpriced at $33. Tuna tartare starter ($23) and rib-eye surf & turf ($48) were great. Three reasonably priced glasses of wine, no dessert, 20% tip = $183. The Open Table icon (under $30) might be accurate if you want a burger, but isn't close for the majority of the entrees. The service was fine but the kitchen was either understaffed or just behind. The wine list was uninspired, with few by the glass options. In spite of the name, don't expect much Hawaiian, certainly not any native fresh fish. Calling the rib-eye "Big Island" does not make it Hawaiian. Go if you want good food in an "Abercrombie" like shopping experience. DO NOT go for a casual, relaxing, or intimate meal.

Enjoy dining at the Kona Grill. We ordered the Fire Dragon Specialty roll and the Prime Rib sandwich - both were excellent! Our server Gloria did a great job!! She was very attentive and personable.

Very expensive for a mid level restaurant. $20 for an order of potstickers is absurd. Sushi rolls average $22 which for 5 pieces is overpriced. There are better restaurants for that kind of money.

Just found out that the happy hour pricing for food changed. Instead of three sliders, you now get two for the same price. Instead of three potstickers for $3 you now have to pay $6. It is not just a small monetary increase. It is from 33% to 100% increase . Beware of the prices before you order.
