We came for a special occasion. Birthday. It was in the reservation, the hostess told the server and discussed at the table. The server never asked about dessert or brought a birthday dessert. It was a bit disappointing.
We frequent this restaurant. The birthday girl had a birthday email coupon. The server came back to the table and told us "the code had been redeemed" the birthday girl said no I just got the email it is valid until December 3. Server apologized the system would not allow her to honor it. She did take off one enter (value less than the $15 certificate).
Food was delicious. Company was great. Experience just not up to par.
Greeters/ hosts made an insanely bad first impression upon our entry. We had reservations to celebrate a special occasion, asked for a booth (the place was empty) and we’re good Ben multiple excuses why we couldn’t be sat at a booth. Lol.
We ended up on a booth.
Food choices were creative, fun and having been there before we looked forward to starting with avacado egg rolls and the Asian salad. We had sushi rolls, noodles and a shrimp pasta dish that were delish*
*most dishes have a bit of spice/ heat to them, (Pad Thai/ shrimp penne) if you don’t care for that, ask your server before you order. Menu doesn’t necessarily specify clearly which dishes have heat or not.
Good overall food experience. Our server was AMAZING! We’ll go again for sure.
We were celebrating a birthday and chose Kona Grill for dinner because it was near to the Marriott theater where we were seeing a play that evening. The menu was perfect for the group, we had sushi lovers, as well as those seeking meat & potatoes and seafood/pasta. We all came away from dinner complimenting food and service.
I've been to Kona Gtill for happy hour many times and enjoyed the appetizers and bar atmosphere. This time I went for dinner and the Jambalaya was tasty but extremely spicy. I love spicy food and couldn't even eat it. I mentioned this to the waiter several times and all he offered was some fresh lime to squeeze on it to cut the heat. It didn't help. My husband's salmon was much better.
The food was very good, as it has been in past visits. However on this visit, annoying fruit flies were flying around the table area. When I went to the men's room, there appeared to be an infestation of them around the urinals. Sure is a turn-off when the food has been so good all the times we have been there.
Had come her several times previously, however this time a favorite item had been removed from the menu. Ceaser's salad, wait staff informed us they no longer have the ingredients and couldn't make it. Server was slow and inattentive. Overall, a poor experience. Doubtful we will be returning. Very disappointing.
Left a note for the restaurant (thru Open Table website) regarding my request for my daughter's birthday. But it seemed like they don't even bother to look at the note & we had to bring it up to 2 people. Kind of disappointing but overall dinner was great & my request was granted in the end.
This is the second time I dined here and was as disappointed as the first visit. The only difference this time was on the first visit, the service was on point. This time I literally had to get up and retrieve the waitress every time we wanted another round of drinks; we were a party of 5. We were there for happy hour. $2 off wine and most definitely the pour matched the discount. Spicy shrimp tempura sat in a really soggy heavy sauce. The fried calmari was equally soggy. I gave it a another go and would not return or recommend.
Always great! The food was delicious, the service was wonderful. Jesica is a conscientious and caring server! The gm came by to make sure everything was going well which we really appreciated. He is always around talking to guests and checking on his staff, a great guy! We will be back!
Our server disappeared on us more than once, she didn't even make sure we all had napkins and forks/knifes, we had to wait a while to order, as she disappeared.... We had a similar long wait to ask for the check.... There were mosquitoes in the booth, my son got bitten on the forehead, it was all swollen and red. He refused to get a photograph taken, and was extremely uncomfortable as the bite hurt and itch. That is not the kind of experience one expect from the price one pays!!
This is the second time we went and experienced bad service. Not from our waiter / waitress but mainly from the kitchen and their timing. For example one meal came out and the others followed at least 10 minutes after. One person ordered a dish that had chicken in the title of the dish and it came out with NO CHICKEN on the plate. So odd. Food is really good however!
