I was disapointed to find out when we arrived that theyare no longer doing the all-day Sunday happy hour :(. I was still hungry after our meal and it was expensive to take the whole family out to eat without the Happy Hour deal that we usually go in for.
Sander was the best server and very accommodating. Food, as always, was great.

We used to love dining at Kona but the recent quality of service was the worst I’ve seen from any restaurant on the plaza. The server did not bring a chiller for the bottle of wine we ordered (despite asking). The server also failed to bring the salad we ordered, 2 additional rounds of drinks we ordered, or any water when our glasses remained empty for 10-15 minutes.

The waitress told us it was no more reverse Happy Hour even tho we booked for a happy hour and reverse Happy Hour was plastered all over the internet. Then found out 4 days later my Cousin went.. for REVERSE HAPPY HOUR.. So that part sucked and still confused about reverse Happy Hour.
So, every bit of the food was excellent. I could not begin to tell you how fabulous the Korean 5-spice ribs were. I would say overall, the pricing was less than I expected, which is good, but I would still relegate this to the once every 6 month type of occassion. I would say it's well worth the money however.

We have eaten here numerous times and love their food but this time the service and cleanliness of the bathrooms was very disappointing. There were not many tables full, tried to put 5 adults into 1 booth. Had to ask to move to a table so we had elbow room, waiting on service forever then made the mistake of going into the bathroom that was dirty with a wet floor from a pipe leaking from the sink.
I didn't even see a front of house manager to talk to. The host sat us, 15 minutes goes by and my partner checks on the host to find our server, now 30 minutes later we get served at long last but then our server forgets to put in our order and we go another 15 minutes without drinks. My goodness, 45 minutes to get a drink - we went there for happy hour, I counted at least 6 servers, theres no reason we shouldn't have gotten service. Terrible service.
My boyfriend and I went out to celebrate our 3 year anniversary. We went to KC for the week and decided to try Kona Grill. The menu and pictures looked very appealing so we decided to give it a shot. We made a reservation and on the reservation we put we were celebrating our anniversary and it gave us the option of table preference we chose a table and not a high top table. Upon arrival we checked in and they immediately sat us at a high top table. Sat for almost 20 minutes before a server came to greet us. When or server greeted us he just said what do you want to drink and walked away. We were ready to order drinks and he just sat our waters down and walked away. My boyfriend and I are both servers we understand if a server is busy with another table or doing something. Waiter finally came back over to get our appetizer order then never came back. A guy dropped our appetizers off and our server walked past us about 6 times before he even came back to check on us or ask us if we were ready to order which we were. He was not busy but just not attentive at all to us. He was very unfriendly and acted like he didn’t care at all to be there. We decided to go eat somewhere else we paid our tab and left

It was good for what they could provide. The food was good. Menu could use some tweaking on the French toast. Waiters/Hostess should know the food to be able to answer customers questions. They were short staff and there was a slow service due to this

Maybe it’s all new staff, because things are beginning to open up, but last night at Kona was kind of disappointing. We had reservations at 6:00 p.m. We walked in and no one else was waiting. The very bored hostess said it would be about 10 minutes before our table would be ready, because they were waiting for people to leave. We said ok. Then we looked toward the bar area and there was a 2 top, empty and clean. We asked if we could sit at that table in the bar. She looked like she’d never been asked that question before. She glanced over at a table 2 people had just left and said they needed to clean it off first. Ok...we waited. Someone casually went over to the table about 5 minutes later and cleaned it off. We waited a couple of minutes and she said she would seat us. She put as at the table that had been empty the whole time! My husband and I started laughing. She looked at us confused. We perused the menu. The server came over and asked if we needed more time. We said we were ready to order some drinks. We waited maybe 5 minutes for the drinks as we overheard one bartender say to another “don’t cry, it will be ok” 😬. We finished our drinks before the server ever came back. Finally ordered food and 4 more drinks (2 a piece knowing how long it was taking for literally everything). Then the music got extremely loud. It was my birthday (which I put on the reservation), but they didn’t mention it. Whatever. So overall, it was just extremely slow service, with ho-hum food, that was turning into a night club by the time we left. I was looking for a replacement sushi restaurant now that Nara closed, but this won’t be it.
Restaurant was extremely noisy with very loud music and crowd noise.
We ordered appetizers, sushi and hot dishes and they were all brought to our table at the same time rather than spreading them out.
Don’t know if we showed up during a shift change or something but after being seated for about 15 minutes with no service, we had to ask someone if a server would be coming to our table. It then took another 15 or so minutes to get our drinks. Other than that things were fine.
Service was okay, food was great.

Went for lunch and had the chopped salad...OMG so delicious! Lots of good choices for salads, which is what I usually eat for lunch. We had the very best server, Faith. She was so conscientious and courteous. Plan on a return visit soon.
There was a communication error when we arrived. Waited for over 30 minutes before someone came to help my table and that was because I waved someone down. This is the first time that I have ever had this happen there at Kona. Once we got someone it was the manager that helped. He was amazing and I hate to give a terrible review but we weren’t the only table that had this issue.
We came for our son’s birthday at his request. We have been to Kona often. Our server took our order. Upon bringing our food we pointed out not all the order was there & she had incorrectly ordered part. Our server never came back for an extended period of time as our glasses sat empty. We never did get part of our order even after we requested it nor part of our drink order. It was a disappointing trip at best.
They got us in an hour before our reservation time and seated us quickly. The menu has something for everyone and the food taste and presentation was superb. Will definitely be going back.

Dinner out with out of town colleagues; great fresh sushi! Grace our waitress was lively and very accommodating to our requirements! This KC Plaza location is great and great area to take out of town guests.
