Food and service were awesome. I wasn’t expecting the high noise level but it was still a great experience.
Had to wait 20 minutes for our table even though we had reservations. Was only given one out of our two appetizers after waiting an extremely long time after ordering. Got our sushi before our second appetizer was even brought out and had to go and find our server to get the bill taken care of. Our server was very nice as I don’t think the mistakes were her fault but overall, not a great experience.

I've been to Kona before several times and have had a good experience. However, this time I wasn't impressed with the brunch menu and the service was pretty slow.

Unfortunately this was our first time there and nothing about it was a good time. We had a reservation and were seated quickly. We sat for a good 9 min before we were even greeted. Once greeted we ordered cocktails and tried to order appetizers as well however the waiter walked away so quickly we did not get to order. We then sat there for 13 min before our drinks arrived at which time we also had to ask for napkins. We could see the place was full and our waiter was very busy. We asked if we could place our appetizer order and our dinner order as we were seeing a show in 2 hours but were worried by the slow service we might not make it. He apologized and said he was very busy and would come right back to get our order. We waited and waited and then finally grabbed him as he walled by and said we really needed to order. We ordered another round of drinks and appetizers and our dinners. The appetizers did not take long to arrive. We asked the person delivering the appetizers if we could please have plates as we were all sharing the the apps. She neve4r4 brought the plates back so we asked another waiter who was walking by if he could bring us plates. He never brought them either. By this time we were finished with the apps and had to awkwardly eat off the plates with another couple that we didn't know very well. Our appetizers were gone and we asked our waiter if our second round of drinks were coming as we had ordered them when we ordered the appetizers. He apologized again and said they were ready at the bar but he need to take the order at the table next to us first. By this time we are all more than frustrated. We did wait along time for our meals to come. Everyone was pleased with what they got. We all wanted to order another drink but did not as we worried it would take another 15min to get them and we did not have time for that. Overall this was not a good first impression.

Made reservations here for an anniversary and was greeted with an offer to sit at the open seating bar since they didn’t do any special seating for reservations??
Sat at the bar, bartender took about 10min to greet us and offer us a drink. Another 10-15 min after, once we ordered and had an appetizer and was not offered any silverware nor napkins until we had to grab them ourselves from behind the counter.
Bartender didn’t check on us at all during our meal even when we were at the bar facing him.
When dinner arrived, we were not offered anything. No soy sauce, no plateware, no refills. Just a here you go.
Will not be returning to this Kona Grill location. It’s been going downhill and the experiences keep getting worse to what used to be a go-to almost every weekend.
The sushi rolls and meatball app were very good, but the tuna sashimi was inedible. Full of fat / marble. I mentioned it to the waitress afterwards, and without asking, the manager took it off the tab.
Made a reservation for our daughter’s birthday. Took 45 minutes to get our drinks. No compensation, only excuses. There was a dj. Super loud for for dinner. Food was good but came out at different times. Overall not worth it for us. Also they made NO mention of the birthday even tho it was part of our reservation. Two thumbs down.

The service was terrific from our waitress, Brylin. She was very attentive and knowledgeable about the various selections on the menu. The food was prepared very tastefully.

Regarding food only.
I ate the sea bass sushi and lobster n cheese.
I have ordered this three separate time in last two months here; & it made me sick. The food isn’t fresh or is being cooked or pre-pared wrong. The sea bass sliders to. I can now not eat sea bass it has ruined it for me from gettin sick three separate times.
I really had loved kona before it is sad to see it go downhill.
+ On the most recent visit 10.30.2021 Sunday he had shasmi and miso soup & ended up REALLY sick on night of & right now : 11.1.2021. Not ok.

The food was amazing! But the best part of the evening was our waiter Sander!! Hands down the best waiter We’ve ever had! We will definitely be back and specifically ask for him! Thank you Sander!

There were gnats that kept flying around our table. Waiter did not offer us the choice of potato that accompanied our meal-he chose for us. Got our appetizer order incorrect. Our steaks were overcooked & flavorless. Overall, the food was okay, but not the quality expected for the price we paid.

The Big Island Ribeye Steak and Cucumber Salad is a mouthwatering treat.
The sushi rolls are fresh and expertly crafted. The Sushi and Sashimi couldn’t be any fresher and are selected by experts at the local fish market in Honolulu, flown directly to Kansas City daily!
Our food was delicious! Sheri Wa helped with recommendations and her service was excellent. The live DJ was great but a little too loud. We can’t wait to go back!
Booths were super uncomfortable!! Our backs hurt from sitting up so straight and table was too high. Seats were sunken down. Food was ehh…it was a Saturday night and they had a DJ and it was a bit loud. Won’t got back .

Restaurant had gnats. Service was very slow. Addressed the gnat problem with manager and server. Even after removing the dishes from the table still was having the same problem. The service was very slow and almost non existent to the point we had to keep asking for our order and drinks.
It was my fiancé’s and I first time sining and the food was amazing!! Hot, flavorful, and delicious! I had the Kona Grill stir fry with shrimp and he had pad Thai noodles! I ate most of his and all of mine! The food was amazing! The service was so great!

Our server did his very best. Very understaffed. All servers were running around trying to cover too many tables. Had to wait for water because server said everything was dirty because of being understaffed. Music was way too loud. Food took forever to get.
Sat down and ordered two drinks, received those and consumed while looking over the menu. One hour plus later we left as no body came back to take our order.
A lost opportunity for the restaurant.
Here's a strange idea, don't make the bartenders wait on the entire bar seating area, the bar itself and drinks for the entire restaurant. It never works.
We had lunch there at noon. It took over 30 min to get our mimosas. That was not good.
We arrived early (they weren't open yet) and were immediately seated by the manager. He served us drinks and gave us plenty of space to relax and visit. The server was the best (Allie). The chef came out to apologize because our breakfast was going to take an additional 5 or 10 minutes. The english muffins were not up to his standard so he sent out for fresh ones. It all worked out great. What a great brunch experience and I would recommend Kona Grill for anyone for brunch, lunch or dinner. We really like the place and have been there many times.
