Booths were super uncomfortable!! Our backs hurt from sitting up so straight and table was too high. Seats were sunken down. Food was ehh…it was a Saturday night and they had a DJ and it was a bit loud. Won’t got back .
Everything was fabulous
Food was fresh and the service was great!
Very nice atmosphere. Food was delicious! Service was excellent!
Ok it was good
The sushi and Salmon were absolutely delicious!!!! My husband, who is not a seafood lover ordered the cheeseburger and he said is was one the best he's ever had. Loved the whole experience.
Great value. Our waitress Twiggy was awesome!! Would definitely recommend this restaurant
Service was quick and efficient. Food was great. Will be back.
Great food, Staff very nice and hard working, accommodated moving us to a quieter table which was nice.
Restaurant had gnats. Service was very slow. Addressed the gnat problem with manager and server. Even after removing the dishes from the table still was having the same problem. The service was very slow and almost non existent to the point we had to keep asking for our order and drinks.
It was my fiancé’s and I first time sining and the food was amazing!! Hot, flavorful, and delicious! I had the Kona Grill stir fry with shrimp and he had pad Thai noodles! I ate most of his and all of mine! The food was amazing! The service was so great!
A lot of variety and imagination resulting in interesting, delicious food.
Food was good, the appetizers could have been larger portions for the price.
We had a nice time with our family and we enjoyed the 80’s music!
Our waiter was very attentive and helpful!
Our starters were excellent and carrot cake was awesome!
The food is always fantastic, this is our favorite restaurant in KC. Hope they continue to have excellent food!
Our server did his very best. Very understaffed. All servers were running around trying to cover too many tables. Had to wait for water because server said everything was dirty because of being understaffed. Music was way too loud. Food took forever to get.
Sat down and ordered two drinks, received those and consumed while looking over the menu. One hour plus later we left as no body came back to take our order.
A lost opportunity for the restaurant.
Here's a strange idea, don't make the bartenders wait on the entire bar seating area, the bar itself and drinks for the entire restaurant. It never works.
We had lunch there at noon. It took over 30 min to get our mimosas. That was not good.
We arrived early (they weren't open yet) and were immediately seated by the manager. He served us drinks and gave us plenty of space to relax and visit. The server was the best (Allie). The chef came out to apologize because our breakfast was going to take an additional 5 or 10 minutes. The english muffins were not up to his standard so he sent out for fresh ones. It all worked out great. What a great brunch experience and I would recommend Kona Grill for anyone for brunch, lunch or dinner. We really like the place and have been there many times.
DJ was terrible and music was way too loud. Had a reservation and walk in customers were getting seats before hand. Food was excellent, wait staff was great. Need to update open table to reflect that this location does not have outdoor seating.
I dont even know where to start, made a reservation at minimum 2 weeks in advance when we arrived putting in the comment section we were celebrating our daughter's 21st birthday. Host tried to seat us in a middle booth with long table basically blocking us in. I explained table was Unacceptable, and pointed to 6 other tables that would work her comment was those are for reservations 🤯 I said yes! I have a reservation she just stood there staring at me as 5 of us were standing in the way ...I finally marched our party back up front and asked to speak to a manager to be fair he was very accommodating and sat us else where. We ordered drinks, 3 appetizers and soups which we received ate and STILL didn't have our drinks seriously 21st birthday party and we were all stone cold sober! At this point we were over it! Ordered the least amount of food we could to not be starving, got drinks, one person waited a additional 10 minutes for a bottle of hot saki which by the way is all we ordered saki and beer simple ...not complicated. Food arrived everyones but again one person me who ordered a freaking house salad didn't get food, finally received after table was half done with there food. Terrible terrible they need to cut off to go orders and focus on people who actual made the effort to make a reservation, get dressed drive down to the plaza and spend money at there restaurant! NOT to go orders. $240 for one of the top worse dinners 👎 we would have stayed and ordered more food and drinks easily could have been a $500 night so in the end I guess they lost. Wont EVER go back this is the 3rd horrible experience I've had here at this location.
Waiter took are order he came out with the wrong drink. When I told him it was wrong he looked very annoyed, then he came back and asked us what did we order again. After my first drink I ordered my second drink that wasn’t very good so I told him I did not care for the drink, he grabs the wine glass he drops and breaks the wine glass so at this point I have red wine all over my shoes. I’ve dined in several times at Kona and I’ve never experienced this type of service. It almost seemed like the waiter was on drugs. I will never be returning
I have had traditionally wonderful experiences at Kona Grill, however these past two have been uncharacteristically poor. I brought my friend to celebrate her end of deployment and we had anything but a lovely night. Our server was kind but overwhelmed with a party so we were unable to receive decent service. Some of our food and beverages were forgotten because they were so overwhelmed. The food however, was wonderful as always. The following day I placed a to-go order for my friend because she enjoyed the food so much. When I arrived I was told there was a miscommunication and my order was not placed. When I finally got the order and gave it to my friend we discovered I received a salad with no dressing and the incorrect roll. When attempting to call to see what could be done, I was placed on hold for almost 15 minutes and then disconnected. Overall I am very disappointed.
Usually we have a terrific experience at Kona; however, this past Saturday, we were not happy with the service. While we were late for our reservation, I understand the short wait to get a table, that was on us. When we got the table, we waited 30 minutes for someone to come by and give us water. A little later, a server came by and took out order. Sixty minutes later, we had not seen the server again, except when they dropped off one napkin and a set of chop sticks, for a party of three. People that were seated after us had eaten and paid. At this point, with no prospect of getting food, we moved on to another restaurant.
Music way too loud
There were SO many knats flying around our table it was hard to enjoy the meal. This happened the last time I was there too and thought I’d give it another shot and was disappointed.
Kona Grill is one of the best places in Kansas City for lunch. The food is outstanding.
One of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in years! Poor and non-responsive service, request to see manager ignored, entree appears before appetizers and salads are finished, no request for additional drinks or desserts, and the check was literally thrown on the table, rather than presented to the table.
One of my favorite spots in Kansas City for sushi!
Bit slow to get started but after our server arrived the meal was very nice. Cocktails very well balanced and the seasonal menu was backed with good options.
Food was ok. My Waiter recommended the Picasso, according to the sushi chef. Picasso, tasted fishie.
Waiter, Eric did a fine job. The steam dumplings were good the California type sushi roll with cream cheese was good. Price point could be better for what you receive.
Group of 5 fir birthday dinner. Food was great but our host, Tavita, was excellent! I was reluctant to order lemon pasta but did in his recommendation and it was fantastic!
We had a great night and will be back.
Service was poor, we think our server may have been new. It was expensive, it had $$ but probably should have had $$$ on its listing. Loud, a DJ was playing as if he was in a dance club. Food: sushi, acceptable, we’ve had much better for less money; beer was cold; starter and sides were OK.
Bartender was great!
Food was subpar. Too much salt. Too much vinegar. Fish was not fresh.
Food and drinks were delicious. Service was great!
Our server was fun to talk to during our meal, had a lot of good recommendations as well.
Steak was bland. Had to search for the waitress everytime we needed refills. Mashed potatoes were cold and hard. Overall I was not very impressed.
My experience was honestly terrible. I called at 10:30 asking if my reservation was still good since they closed at 11. The person on the phone said no worries come on by. I get there and the server was very rude. She said she never talked to me at all. The manager came over and was quite rude as well. Idk why they would tell me to come if i was going to be treated so poorly.
Our server (from Hawaii, can't remember his name) was outstanding! Please share with the restaurant that he made our meal so enjoyable!
