Very nice experience during Covid. Social distancing was appropriately followed.
Extremely disappointed, we have dined here countless times for girls night with no issue. However when trying to enjoy the same great time as a family, we were told that our “party” was to large. The GM was extremely rude and did not make our experience very enjoyable, we didn’t get to eat because they wanted to separate my family across the restaurant (although they didn’t mind us sitting by complete strangers). We were put out, in 46 degree weather, and while standing outside with my disabled veteran husband and 5 children trying to make a reservation with a restaurant that would allow our family to dine together, the GM Rose Tingley came outside and called security on us for standing outside. I have dined at Kona for years and have never had such a horrible experience. The way she made my family feel should be an insult to the Company.
Kona has been my favorite restaurant for many years so we've gone a lot. The last several visits, I ordered my usual, the macadamia nut chicken. I think they have slightly changed the recipe (and the menu, and the prices) and it's just not what it was. Went back again and the same- just not very good anymore. So this trip, I went with sushi and was not disappointed. I had the shrimp tempura which was excellent. I still miss my normal macadamia nut chicken though. They also took off the menu my favorite drink - the coconut mojito. Ask the bartender if he could still make one and said they don't have Malibu Rum. What bar doesn't carry Malibu Rum? I'll still continue to go but just not my favorite restaurant anymore.

Unfortunately, we had to go somewhere else, as they were not able or willing to accommodate our group needs. We had 11 people, and due to COVID protocol, could only reserve up to 6 per table. For some reason, they would not allow us to reserve another table for 5 within decent proximity...even the the dining area was nearly empty. We wound up going to Bucca de Beppo who were great.
Good food but disappointed due to the nats that have been present in the restaurant.
We reserved a table outside. When we arrived at the time we reserved, we were told it would be an hour wait. Given the concerns of the virus, this was unacceptable. They did not offer any type of consideration given this significant oversight.
As usual along that street, parking is a bit of a challenge but that’s fine. The food was outstanding. We liked the cocktails (Red Sangria and an Old Fashioned). Quick service. Food served piping hot. Casual dining. No complaints.
For years and years, Kona has been overrun with fruit flies and poor service.
I absolutely love going to Kona Grill with my friends or for date night. The food is awesome and moderately priced. My only reason for not giving five stars is because one of the employees at the door was extremely rude when I asked if she could help me find my party. She said “I don’t know where they are” hastily and dismissed me. Luckily, another employee was able to direct me to my table.

My partner and I took his five-year-old niece to dinner here on a Saturday night and it couldn't have been easier, safer or more pleasant. The booths are tastefully surrounded by plexiglass so that you feel as if you are in your own protected pod. The staff not only wears makes but also gloves while easily conveying information and providing excellent service. Our little dinner Guest was thrilled with her bento box and our dinner was fabulous. I do recommend this restaurant- with or without little ones.

The feel of the restaurant was great and the food was amazing!
Our table wasn’t clean when we were seated. Plates were wet when served to us. Restroom was extremely dirty.
We are in the middle of the pandemic and Kona grill Kansas City’s overall cleanliness clearly needs some improvement.
The amenities were great the bathroom was clean the food was great the service was excellent I’ll give it a four-star rating

I had not specified a booth on my reservation as I didn’t realize there were tables now (with Covid). They graciously worked to find us a booth which we really wanted. Our waiter was great and the food was excellent as always.
Kona has the most enjoyable flavors of dishes anywhere in KC. Whether it’s a main entree fish or steak, a side vegetable or appetizer. Everything we’ve tried here is unique and enjoyable, will continue coming to Kona and trying their whole menu!
Wonderful food and service. We had never been there before. A bit noisy but my brother who had been several times, said it isnt usually loud. Maybe people just wanted to be out.
Went here for a special night. I was greatly pleased.
It was very horrible experience from the beginning. I made reservation ahead of time when and our table was not ready at all. the tables was not cleaned so I have to wait 15 more minutes. After we set down our server came and took our order we receive the water after 31 minute, some of our food came in before we receive our other drinks and some of the drink never showed up at all and the rest of the foos showed up 69min late and we try to cancel the food we did not receive and they said they can’t because they made the order already. Over all the experience was not good at all. They did not even sanitized or really clean tables after every use. Highly not recommend. It’s over rated.

It took about an hour to get our food and hardly any apology. Manager came by and asked how everything was and we told her how long we were waiting. She left and we never saw her again. Our waitress kept saying it’s just taking a while sorry. And they are not even close to COVID capacity. It was also a Monday night.
Too noisy, not a good value. Have gone here many times over ears but there are better places out there.
Jakie was our server. Her personality and energy made our experience all the more enjoyable. 10/10 will absolutely be coming back and asking for her.

Over priced for what you get to eat
My favorite place to get sushi! So delicious and worth the price. Went to celebrate my birthday and staff there made it extra special. Definitely start with the potstickers (my favorite appetizer)!
The food was delicious. Waitress Michelle was wonderful but I think had too many tables as her service got slow in the middle and waited awhile for drinks. But don’t think her fault. Also we booked for 730 and then got a call that they were overbooked and couldn’t get us in until 930. Not sure if that was an open table or kona issue so that was frustrating.
My husband and I came in on 8/8/20. Upon arriving we noticed that some of the other guests were intoxicated. One woman was wearing jeans and a sports bra, with her underwear pulled up over her pants. The group was shouting to the bartender from their table. Which we completely understand that the staff has no control over others, but the manager was walking around and did not address it. If I am going to come to the Plaza, and spend over $100 on dinner for only 2 people, I would expect there to be some type of boundaries for the type of people, and actions that are allowed in the restaurant. At least a dress code. It made the experience very unpleasant.
It was amazing! The servers are wonderful and kind. My friend and I had a little goodbye dinner before college and out waitress was super sweet and talked to us and asked us where we were going. The food was amazing and came out quickly.
Great food. Felt like a fast food for sushi place when it should have been a bit more eclectic.
