Kona Grill - Gilbert Ratings and Reviews
Jessica, our server was nice, but never asked if we wanted dessert after our meal.
The Pad thai was salty and the tuna sliders were dry and bland.
I indicated on my reservation that we were celebrating a birthday and while we were there, there was no mention of it from the server or restaurant so we could make my mom's birthday a little more special.
Food was good, server was rude. Had to send back my alcoholic drink because it tasted like straight alcohol (might as well drank a bottle of rubbing alcohol) and she didn’t seem very happy about it. She just looked down to the table and said ok, like no offer for something else, no offer to remake it, just ok. She missed writing down an appetizer we ordered and when we got our dinner we asked about it. She blew it off like it was no big deal, no apology, nothing... just “i must have missed it”. My friend ordered a soda with no ice and she brought with full glass of ice. Not a big deal until you had to tell her about the error and then again, no acknowledgment of the mistake and she just grabbed the glass and asked, anything else? Honestly she sort of ruined the mood of our dinner. Whether she was having a bad day or this is her usual attitude, she definitely shouldn’t have been in a customer service role that day. She was even rude to other servers trying to help her.
My husband & I dined at Kona twice recently. We wanted to take advantage of 1/2 price wine on Wednesdays. The 1st time everything was great until the end of the meal when a vacuum cleaner was started up near us. We asked it to be stopped and it was. Odd, but a minor inconvenience.
The 2nd time was with friends , again on a Wednesday. Both couples chose the same wine. Only one bottle was chilled. Really, on the touted wine night? Service on getting our wine was incredibly slow. We all commented on it & mentioned to waiter. He seemed distracted. The second problem was my entree. The waiter assured me the spice in Pad Thai could be toned down. ( like I always get at Thai restaurants). The waiter was wrong and It was too spicy. The waiter should have either known for sure or found out, not assume. I was offered a new dish but after the long delay with the wine, I declined and it became a takeout for my husband.
It’s a great location with good ambiance. We’ve always enjoyed their happy hours so we’ll probably stick with that in the future.
We had a group of 16 on Sunday at noon to celebrate 4 family July birthday's and our server was AMAZING.......we expressed our appreciation and she said she had only been there 2 weeks. Natural at her Job! Food was good, children's meal was impressive. A little pricy for lunch but worth the celebration.
This was our first visit to Kona Grill. We celebrated our anniversary with a delicious meal, great service and ambience. The portions were very generous and we took home lots of food to enjoy the next day. Interesting menu with large variety of choices. Loved the house - baked carrot cake! We will definitely return to try more entrees.
Fqthers day, wasn't very busy yet our server seemed to be in a constant hurry. Neither entre was right when it arrived at the table. We had to send both back. Took along time to get drinks. Better restaurant for lunch or eating in the bar for an afternoon drink/ snack.
Usually good, timely food service and hot meals are the norm at this, one of our favorites in Gilbert. Unfortunately, tonight this was not the case. Lukewarm/cold meals served after an unusually long wait at table. Hopefully this does not become the new norm. :-)
Server was very gracious and apologetic.
Maybe there was an unusual and unexpected crowd for Mother's day evening meal that caught the kitchen staff off-guard?
Not a fan of Kona Grill..their food isnt good at all. Their menu needs a revamping. I ordered a burger..pretty basic I thought and it was not good at all. It had no flavor but did have strands of cilantro in the meat. Who puts strands of cilantro in a burger? It was pretty bad. I wont be dining at Kona Grill again.
It had been a couple of years since we last visited the Kona Grill and we were reminded how much we like like and need to return more often. If you check-in through Yelp, you should receive a free appetizer which we used for a Chile-Lime Shrimp salad that was not only delicious, but so large we took half of it home. Many of their entrees have an Hawaiian Fusion flavor and flair that we really loved. Last, we were so lucky to have met and be served by Kayden who was exceptional in every way! Overall a fantastic night of dining... give them a try if you have not already.
One of our favorites. I have been quoted in saying if there was one restaurant that I was relegated to through the rest of my life Kona Grill would probably be my #1 choice. Great diverse menu that I always find something great to eat. Sushi sampler, salads, steak....they've got it all including awesome desserts. I do wish they still had their sashimi sampler from a few years ago.
Great date place for one of my wive's favorite meals! The dinner was 5 star, but the desert was just okay. Perhaps it is just us, but so far we are batting 0 for 5 on desert. But everything else (drinks, appetizers, great lunches and dinners) is pure deliciousness yum.
We ate at the Gilbert, AZ location. Our ticket was so confusing, we had a party of 9 also, but the server was extremely patient, kind, and VERY apologetic when one tiny thing was wrong and fixed within minutes. Wish I got his name so I could give him a shout out. Food was so yummy, big portions, and good price. Great place!
Our waitperson, Jessica was outstanding. I ordered tuna over shrimp and pork fried rice and leeks. The piece of fish was the worst I've ever been served. It was so veiny, I couldn't eat it. When Jessica removed my plate she noticed it and without me saying anything, got management to take half off my entree. My wife ordered Miso glazed sea bass and it was overcooked to the point it wouldn't flake apart or cut easily. She left half on her plate. Jessica's service overcame the really poor food, but I'll not come back to this restaurant. I'm surprised the kitchen even served my tuna.
