Service was great. Design of room is lovely. Food was great, though we weren’t crazy about the potstickers. They tasted as if they were stuffed with chopped liver. Avocado egg roll: terrific. Flat bread: really good.
Great but I am still unhappy about the menu.
I loved Miso-Sake sea bass entrée, particularly the sea bass and shrimp pork fried rice was my favorite dish anywhere. While the fish was just ok this time, the shrimp and pork fried rice has been added back on to this dish, the texture is slimy and the flavor is lacking. My friend bought me a gift card for my birthday to use and I sadly left unsatisfied.
It was fine. Nothing special but
Marty rocks. He helped make our time at Kona special. Clone him and give him a raise. Hawaiian poke bowl was delicious and Kona has the best kids meals around. Thank you!
Hello Derek, We are excited to hear you had a great time and we sincerely appreciate your feedback about Marty! Your experience is what makes it all count and we are thankful to hear that we are living up to our expectations. We look forward to enjoying your company, again, soon! Best, Michael
Great food, fun server, and excellent value. Would highly recommend.
Gail, We are thrilled to hear that you had a great time! We truly enjoyed your company and it’s guests like you who help us keep the remarkable experiences going. Thank you for creating memories with us and we hope to see you again, soon! Best, Michael
Perfect for my daughters surprise birthday dinner.
We made the reservation at least 2 weeks prior to this day. We decided to go there for the Valentine's special (advertised in an email) which was to be served all weekend. We were accommodated right on time for our reservation, however, that's where the great experience ended. Not only were they out of the special, but they were out of our next 3 meal choices. The manager came over to apologize &:recommend another meal, but at that point we were ready to go.
We frequent this location quite often, mostly for sushi, and it's not typical of our experience. However, this particular night was very disappointing.
This was one of my daughters favorite places, until they no longer have any toys with their kids meals. They don’t even have crayons and paper. After long day of being out and about I thought this would be relaxing dinner for all, not so😔 I think Crave is a better option.
All workers were very nice,
And Food was fantastic!
The food was not as good as my past experiences. The server was ok, but did nothing to be friendly or help the experience be fun.
Miss the flowers on the ceiling and the steak churrasco.
Yummy food with a grout get- together. Service was patient with people arriving over time.
There are good sushi and conventional menus—nice range for everyone’s taste.
So then...of course we had to try dessert!
Really tasty all around, these were definitely big enough to share
Hope to go back soon!
Our server was excellent!!! We had two extra people join our group and they accommodated us with a smile on their face!! Positive experience and the food was amazing!!!
awesome! staff was friendly and came over to deliver food
I called to change my reservation to 11 on Friday and the girl said she would take care of it, though when I walked in on Saturday it wasn't updated. The hostess were wonderful and able to act on the change without issue, getting the table set up fast.
The server was a bit on the slower side, but we find with big tables they always are due to they add the tip on. We ordered drinks and apps, and our apps came out and were gone before we saw the server again to order our food, which is a bit crazy; especially when it wasn't that busy at 6:30.
Overall everyone in the party liked their food except for 1 person. The restaurant was really loud as it seemed they turned the music up which just made people talk louder. We did put on the reservation it was for a special occasion but no one asked or did anything about it, so that must not matter to them. The birthday girl was happy and liked her food so that made it a success.
Would we go back, it depends on our needs. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here, but it was a good place to have a Filet and Sushi in the area.
Our server was pleasant but not very attentive. I kept having to get her attention and hand her dishes that were empty. My sushi rolls were dry and had apparently sat out for quite a while. When I gave my plate to her that had hardly been touched, she only asked if I wanted a box rather than asking me if everything was okay. We’ve been here many times before and had good service and food, but this was off the mark on both counts.
Too much spice hidden in the avocado chicken club sandwich and dreary fast food style fries. Not impressed!
Food and atmosphere was amazing. Service lacked a bit from our waitress. Will be back for sure
Our waitress was very good. I ordered my favorite Macadamia Nut Chicken. It was wonderful. Everyone enjoyed their meals. We shared a Vanilla Cake for dessert. So good!
Absolutely wonderful! The new rib-eye is melt in your mouth perfection. Also, love the spicy shrimp tempura! I do miss the chicken chili from last winter.
Yes. It was a little noisy, but it was New Year’s Eve!
It started out rocky...but the server made up for it with her positive attitude!
High expectations; no disappointment
We love going to Kona Grill! The food is always good and we enjoy the atmosphere. I've been to both the Eden Prairie and Minnetonka location and enjoy them both. The EP one is more classic and cozy feeling while the Minnetonka one is more modern and open. They have a great happy hour menu with relatively cheap prices. My husband loves sushi and I don't but the great thing about Kona is their non-sushi food is really good. So we both win!
We received the email about the Christmas Surf and Turf special so we made reservations at 5:30 pm on Christmas Day. Our server grabbed the card from us and said they were sold out. Umm, it’s the day of the special and pretty early for dinner so it was surprising it was not available. We looked at the menu again and my husband decided on the steak. Our server once again said they had no steak (she didn’t tell us that they were out of steak initially). We ended up with flatbread which is disappointing when we’re expecting steak and lobster. In addition, my husband ate half his meal without a beverage as our waitress never checked in on us. The manager noticed it and brought a refreshed beverage. We appreciate that they were open on the holiday but were pretty disappointed in the food and service. Odds are remote that we’ll be back.
Grilled cheese for kids came out burnt and waitress didn’t even notice. They took the whole plate back so my kid had nothing to eat. Next sandwich was also burned but not as bad. Check came out and they did nothing to even correct for it. Waitress eventually noticed when she picked up my card. So much for special Christmas dinner.
I have been in Food and Beverage with hotels and restaurants for many years, so I'm very picky.
The staff - hostess, wait and manager, will all extremely friendly, eager to please and doing well with such a busy night.
If I had a complaint - the bar service was slow, and our waitress was apologetic for the backup. We had plenty of time, so it really wasn't a problem. Also, unfortunately for me, the special was sold out
One suggestion - teach the staff to upsell - both drinks and food - the hostess was great about recommending different food items - which we purchased!
Will definitely be back - I travel often, and will look for other Kona Grills!
I’m only voting for four stars because I had put in my notes that we wanted a bar table, and had made the reservation two weeks in advance. When I got there they said they were too busy and sat me in the restaurant. After review, there was three tables in the bar open. The good news is they now serve happy hour in the restaurant so we didn’t lose that
The service was not good. We have been loyal customers and it seems to be going downhill. My table was all former servers and understand, but we watched multiple servers sitting and not paying attention to their customers. We did not even get waters. Disappointed
We also were disappointed on the menu items as many were not available. We still will return as we enjoy he place but truly know we need to allow a lot of time and extra patience.
love ... love ... love! friendly staff and excellent food
The service was slow but the meal was great. They were out of the Thanksgiving turkey dinner before 6 pm. That was kind of a bummer.
Easy access to get to. Parking good. Service was very good. Food very good. Lots of energetic noise which is to be expected when you come during happy hour. Over all a pleasant experience and would return.
Not many gluten free options, however the salad with salmon on top and lemon dill dressing is excellent. Our server was very friendly and he did an excellent job We will return. Thank you.
Always reliable good food and service. Love our neighborhood Go-to.
Everything we have ever had there has been good. I hope Kona Grill never goes away.
Our service was outstanding! Our waitress was very sweet and everything went perfectly.
We had a reservation at 6:30 and were seated almost immediately. No one had come by our table by 6:50 even with water which is when I finally flagged a server. Although it wasn’t her section she took our drink order. She tried to hand the table back to the server it belonged to but that server refused it.
Along with poor service the restaurant has a bad smell to it.
Although we made a reservation for dinner for 4, we were seated in the bar at a 30" cocktail table. There were ample tables around us in the dining area, but we didn't say anything. We waited an hour for food even with a reservation. The food was good, although my order was incorrect. The manager made good on the situation and we appreciated it, but I don't think any of us would return. It was a bad experience.
