Kona Grill has a nice big menu with lots of choices. Love their Pad Thai but we both had sandwiches this time [Cuban and Pork Sliders]. Friendly staff and good value.
Good food and good service. We will definitely be going back
Great sushi and for the first time we had their amazing salads!!
Great food and our server was attentive and personable, too. They have a wonderful selection of sushi, sashimi and other, non-Japanese items. While the server didn't share specific recommendations or technical information about the dishes with us, his enthusiasm for the food more than made up for it.
One gripe is that the hostess who "greeted" us seemed disaffected and distant - she barely registered our presence when we walked in and wasn't helpful letting us know about where to sit or how it was "going to work (i.e., that our server would be right with us, etc.)." They also didn't say goodbye or thank us for coming in as we left and instead talked with one another.
Food was not of high quality, and service was slow. Wine came after we were done eating. Overall, this place is not worth the money.
I come here often. Chris is always a great server. This particular visit the service was off. The young male host sat 2 walk ins after we checked in for our reservation. They said he was new. Our sushi took forever. The sushi chefs were new also. The only reason I’m commenting is because they never make excuses like that. Service is usually top notch.
Loved the coconut shrimp sushi with papaya! Also had a an amazing chicken/pear salad. Dessert menu is small but overall wonderful experience.
We had a family dinner on a Saturday night, with a reservation, and were happy to get a booth far enough away from the bar scene that we could talk. Best kids' menu in Denver and reasonable, $7 for kid size entree and 2 healthy sides. We all liked our mostly Asian choices, altho the pot stickers weren't great. Calamari was excellent, and the fried rice that came with my salmon entree was very good. other entree's were the sushi sampler, a steak with mashed potatoes and the miso bass. All plates cleaned up! We'll return.
Service was friendly and attentive but the food was just adequate. The shrimp tempura roll was very bland, fish entree was dry, ahi tuna sliders were ok but sweet potato fries were cold and overcooked. We did enjoy the enormous (truly enormous!) piece of carrot cake for dessert. It was large enough for 3 people to share and still have leftovers!
I went in on a Thursday night for happy hour. We were sat at a table when we came in. We were informed happy hour is only available at the bar so we moved to the bar, after waiting 42 minutes we left without being offered a drink or appetizers. The place was not busy. Never again.
Awesome place to eat ! Highly recommend trying if you haven't been there.
Great service and good food.
It was ok. Waiter screwed up some of our order. Food was blank and fish options were not good. Atmosphere is pretty good.
Blake is by far the best server there!
Food was good as usual. The service this evening was really poor. We ordered two starters and never received them. Love Kona grill, but this was the worst service we have ever had there.
Great appetizers and wine list. Food was excellent. We had some sushi, poke bowl, and apps. Great meeting place in Cherry Creek!
Nice ambient. Food was just "ok" nothing extraordinary. Was expecting at least better tasting sushi. Overpriced!...
The sake flight is delightful. I loved the chopped salad, and the poke was reportedly very good.
The sushi was beautifully made and delicious. I’ll be back.
AWESOME PERSONAL , over and above
Exactly the reason we have been returning here for 14 years!!
Their gluten free menu has 3 items on it. Very disappointing! I also thought it was expensive for what we received.
On the plus side, the food was good and the waitress was excellent.
The food was not good. We ordered four sushi rolls and calamari, but didn't even finish half of it. The fish didn't taste fresh and the calamari had no flavor. I remember the food being great the last time I was here about a year ago, but this experience fell REALLY short. Quite disappointing.
I have always loved the food at Kona but this time the waitress was so slow and unhelpful. Never asked if we wanted a refill on drinks, seemed like she wanted to be somewhere else the whole time and overall not that friendly. Great food, terrible service.
Kona is reliable. The rice in the sushi rolls was dry, otherwise the food was good. Staff was very good and attentive.
As always Kona comes thru with a great dinning experience! The waiter, Blake, was terrific! Will be back....
Our server Dillon was one of THE BEST we have ever had! He made our experience at Kona Grill so good!
Love the new and improved Kona Grill! It’s bigger and beautiful and the food is great as always.
We eat at Kona fairly regularly and always have a good experience. We love their sweet chili glazed salmon, fried rice, and seasonal vegetables, as well as their flank steak and sea bass. We can never pass up their delicious pot stickers either. The wait staff is friendly and on top of things. It's a fun and delicious place to go.
Hostesses were superb in trying to accommodate reservation request.
I was disappointed in Kona. The table we sat at was so wobbly and broken and my dad politely mentioned it to the waiter several times and he just made jokes about it. The sushi was very mediocre. The appetizer we wanted came with 3 pieces and I asked if we could have it with 4 to accommodate our party of 4, also mentioning we were happy to pay extra and the waiter said the chef would not do that. Overall it was just a little frustrating and not great.
Outstanding - As Always! Took my wife to the Kona Grill for her 49th birthday. Awesome service and food. This is the perfect restaurant to meet a handful of friends for happy hour, appetizers and then dinner.
This was one of the worst restaurants that I have been to in Denver. It took a very long time to get our food. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. There are much better places to go in the city.
Took somone I was hoping to hire to lunch on 12/18/17. We both ordered the sushi sampler. My guest found a worm/parasite in her peice of tuna sushi. It was disgusting. She brought it to the attention of the waitress who was also totally grossed out. The waitress said she would let the kitchen know and she did. As if the worm in the sushi wasn't bad enough, what happened next is the reason I will never go back to Kona Grill. The hostess appoached us and offered free dessert in manner that implied we were trying to get a free meal. We were not, I had already paid the bill. It was horribly embarrassing and at that point neither of us had an appetite. A simple apology and reassurance the kitchen is supposed to check every peice of tuna before sending it out would have been enough.
Another excellent dining experience. The seasonal cocktail was excellent as well. We look forward to dining here whenever we are in the Denver/Cherry Creek area.
After making an OT reservation and making sure to mention wanting a nice table for a close friend’s 50th birthday, we were seated by a table of little kids by the mall door . The waiter, although well meaning, had just had wisdom tooth surgery and couldn’t open his mouth..literally! He had on a very dirty shirt and I was left completely embarrassed. He should not have been able to work at a restaurant. I ordered a small size of the oriental salad and was brought, quite literally, a small soup bowl size of lettuce missing the red peppers, carrots, almonds, etc...so embarrassing! I tried to find the waiter but couldn’t. I finally walked to the front of the restaurant to find someone to help me. I went back to sit down and a young woman came to the table to ask, “ I hear you’re looking for your waiter...what do you need?”..,what???? I need my waiter!!! She took my salad and , when the waiter returned, it was obvious where he had been...smoking!! When I got my salad “returned”, it had a few small slices peppers on top of the same bowl of lettuce. (Photo of $10.50 salad) To avoid further embarrassment, I just ate a few bites having completely lost my appetite. No dessert was ever offered for the birthday, and I couldn’t wait to get out of there. This place used to be a treat...it was a total bust and I will never be back.
we have children..staff makes sure that our kids are well taken care of...doesn't make us feel uncomfortable eating in Kona eventhough our children are loud & messy....we do clean up our mess at the end of our meal :)
Very sweet hostess. I asked for a quite booth and she acknowledged that she was bringing me to the best one. The server had just been sat a large party so I believe a different server took us. I appreciated the team work to accommodate my request. We got the potstickers per the servers suggestion. They're amazing. Picasso roll was also amazing per her suggestion. I love the overall look of the restaurant and it was resonably priced. We will be back!
Many small children. Several playing at entry were very distracting and loud
Chris, our server, was easily the best server I’ve ever had at kona. He was fantastic and gave us a great experience.
Service was very good. Sushi and Naruto were fresh and had nice flavor. Next time I would like to try more traditional entrees. Had carrot cake for dessert. It was delicious and huge, easily shareable among 5-6 people. Makes the one at the cheesecake restaurant chain look like a dwarf. Definitely a busy place since it is attached to the Cherry Creek shopping center. So you may want to look else where if you are looking for a quiet, intimate spot.
