Kona Grill - Cincinnati
Fri - Sat: 11a-12a
The food was great! Considering the place was not full, I thought the waitress and service was a bit slow. Had to ask for a simple straw 3 times before finally receiving it!
Our main course and appetizers showed up at the same time and was very odd that they didn’t realize it because different servers were bringing it out.
Food and service, as always, were great. Love the expanded menu.
Dinner with friends after a movie. We were seated immediately which was terrific since the place was packed. Our server “Tonya” was excellent! The only downer was my salmon was filled with bones. Just a bad piece of fish. Other than that everyone’s meal was great.
Love this place excellent food and great service and recommend things that are absolutely awesome.
It’s always worth the drive from Northern Kentucky to shop, see a movie and to have a great dining and experience. I just wish we had a place like this in Northern Kentucky to enjoy.
Dinner was fine. Food was good. The server was fine- very basic not personable.
Service was awesome. Food had good flavor but chicken was very dry. Flank steak requested to be medium came out well done. Stir fry great and poke bowl good. Overall good experience but have had better meals elsewhere for the price.
The service was excellent but the food was fair. I would go back and give it another chance. May have just been what we ordered.
The food was cold and didn’t have much flavor. The waiter forgot to bring several items we ordered. The pad tai noodles were hard and not cooked. Not worth the price nor the time.
It was extremely loud (voices) and music was even louder. Very difficult to talk. Tables were very close together and I could easily hear all conversations around us. Unlikely I will return until the outdoor patio is open. Much better environment and much more enjoyable in the outdoor space.
We have always had good food & service at Kona Grille although restaurant very noisy. On Saturday we waited over an hour for food and then one I party sent his back as it was cold. My husband had to physically go get manager to even get our food. There were numerous plates of food was sitting under warming lights and no one serving. We did get our mealed cost comped but still very disappointed and manger did not seem to be able to handle the situation well. 🙁🙁
I frequently visit Kona and will admit there have been a few less than stellar visits along the way but I’m slowly starting to see some consistency in the quality of service. We received great service during our most recent visit. I typically enjoy sake or a cocktail and the sushi options. The atmosphere in Kona is what draws me in again and again. It’s truly fitting for any occasion and the patio is a great place to relax in the summer. As long as the service stays consistent I will continue to patron Kona and recommend it to friends.
We like Kona but the one in Cincinnati is an upgrade because the ambient is les noisy.
Our server was new, so no hard feelings there. But, the timing of our meal was very off. Our appetizers took a while, but then our sushi and entrees came out immediately. One of our sushi rolls came out incorrect and we left one of the managers know. They got us the correct Roll which was great. We didn’t see our server or the manager for about 20 minutes. This isn’t a big deal, except we still had all of our appetizer and sushi plates and extra silverware and menus still on the table while we were trying to enjoy our entree. Matt and Tania are the best!!
Loved the food, loved our waitress. Only complaint is that we were seated right by the front door, so lots of traffic and lots of cold air coming in with every arrival and departure. Someone has to be seated there and we made the best of it!
Great food, great service, the waitress did a great job
Food was okay, but I couldn't get past the horrible bad breath of the server.
Every time we come here, the service has steadily gotten worse, ESPECIALLY at the bar. We were the only ones seated at the bar (dining area basically empty), there were two bartenders who spent the whole time standing around talking to each other and/or watching the game. When we could finally flag one of them down, we had to ask them to go check on our entrees that we could clearly see had been sitting under the heat lamps for the last 10 minutes. They couldn't be bothered to pick up our dirty appetizer dishes that had been sitting there for 45 minutes, clearly visible when they finally begrudgingly delivered our entrees. One bartender even left the door to the mini fridge by our seats open for 30 minutes, hope there wasn't anything perishable inside. I'm done with this place, absolutely horrible.
The menu has changed and my Celiac wife who loved this place because of all of the gluten free options which are no longer available. Very disappointing. We left and did not eat there.
I made reservations for dinner with a friend. We were placed in the corner behind a very large party. When we asked for a different table so that we would not be ignored by being hidden by the large party, we were assured that this would not happen because we had a completely different server. Also, we were told that there were so many reservations that night so they could not move us (even though we had a reservation ourselves). Our server took forever to come over to us and apologized saying he didn’t see us over the huge party (after we had been assured this would not happen by a different employee). He barely came to our table all night after he took our order. The food was good, but the service left something to be desired, and I doubt I will be back.
Second time I have been here and it was terrible this time. I ordered sea bass and it came so salty I could not eat. I asked my friend to taste to see if she agreed. I sent back (rare for me to do) and our waiter was wonderful about doing it. I then just ordered what my friend had gotten, some kind of crusted chicken tenderloin over mashed potatoes and broccoli. The chicken was over cooked but by then I was so hungry I ate it anyway. Our server was great. Recommended my wine and he hit it right on. Ambiance was nice and noise level was fine though crowded. I won’t go there to eat again!!! Maybe drink and small appetizer but not dinner. I had recommended the place when reconnecting with girlfriend I hadn’t seen in a long time due to relocations and raising kids. I was embarrassed but we still enjoyed a night out.
We arrived early and checked in at the hostess. A table wasn't ready but there was a spot at the bar, so we said we'd go have a drink and to get us when our table is ready. She never came back and got us. We finished our drinks (my husband got his normal woodford on the rocks- smallest pour I've ever seen him receive at any restaurant) and then ordered an appetizer. We decided to order dinner since it was past our reservation time and nobody had gotten us. the time the food was entered on our ticket and the time it arrived was over 45 minutes- entirely too long. The food was ok. Nothing amazing- the sauce on the pad thai was really sweet and not very good. The stir fry was very spicy and not noted so on the menu. My husband liked his sushi but otherwise the food was just blah. The bartenders were very hard working and I don't think they had anything to do with the food taking forever- I think the kitchen was backed up but almost an hour after ordering is way too long.
We rate Kona Grill as "OK." Same conclusion after multiple visits. Menu needs better choices. It is hard to find something we like. We eat out a lot and don't mind paying for a good meal. We end up picking something that doesn't jump out and say this sounds really good. Service was very slow on our last visit, but did not appear to be the server's fault. I think they did not have enough staff to handle the number of tables. We don't expect fast service, but do not like "Very Slow." They have a great location, just wish they offered better choices on the menu. The food we ate was not bad, just not a first choice for a dinner selection. The menu selection is why we had not eaten there for a long time & will be why we don't return anytime soon. The sushi was "OK."
Service wass off...we sat for a long time without water. Then had issues with our drinks. But it did get better over time. Food, again was mediocre. This time I tried the pad Thai, most of the noodles were undercooked. My friend’s steak was under cooked. Only sushi seemed to be prepared well.
So loud in the restaurant area that ot was very difficult to hold a conversation.
Person taking care of us was very pleasant and gave just the right amount of attention during our visit.
Appetizers came out before our drinks, even before our water. We were finished eating apps when the waiter remembered to bring our water, it was even longer before we received our beers. Food was just ok, nothing special, in fact was pretty bland. I had heard really good things so I was surprised that I wasn't impressed with service or food at all.
This is the second time I have dined here and it just doesn’t live up to the hype and prices. Unfortunately this will probably be my last time going there.
I would have given a better review but our server was absolutely horrendous! Took almost 45 minutes to place our meal order. Spoke to manager who said our half price bottle of wine would be free but had to remind them to take off the bill. No follow through.
It wasn’t that busy and it took us 45 mins to get water and drinks for a table of seven and it took almost 2 hrs to get food. What a joke
I have been to Kona multiple times and everytime gets worse with food and service. I ordered a salad I have had 3x before and this one came out warm all the way to the bottom. Every piece of lettus was warm like it had sat under a warmer. I sent it back and replacement was a little better. The service was less than average. We waited for a long time for drinks and refills and wasn’t the friendliest environment. My dining time was way beyond dinner rush and it was not crowded so no real reason for the delay on everything.
Koma Grill is a local neighborhood favorite of ours. I called ahead of a business meal to see if they could accommodate our new plant-based dietary needs. They had me speak with Chef Mani directly. He offered several options that would meet our needs. We were seated in the patio area, providing quiet al fresco atmosphere for conversation along with a great view. After ordering, Chef came out to confirm our order. We were pleased with our meals and our business associate was pleased with his GF meal. Highly recommend.
The food is always amazing. We love the sushi. Great atmosphere!!
Food was great, service was off and on. Sometimes he would come over to us too often, and then he would disappear and we wouldn’t see him for a very long time to the point where another server had to take our food order
Still a pretty spot but the food was overspiced and not good
I had the lettuce wraps as an entree, and they were delicious. We also had the carrot cake, which was huge and so good. My only complaint is that the noise level is so crazy. We were practically screaming to hear each other.
Our first time there, very nice place, décor is lovely and the fish tank is so unique. There were two very large parties set up for a little later that evening and unfortunately even though the restaurant was practically empty all of the servers were pre-occupied talking about the upcoming large parties and weren't as attentive -- we waited awhile to order, our drink glasses were empty -- but otherwise everything was great. We had the potstickers and they were yummy, my husband had the Cuban sandwich and it was huge! I had the crispy Korean sandwich. Very good but messy, I had to use a fork and knife. We will definitely go back!
Server Andrea was awesome!!! The food and ambiance was very good.
Kona did not even have our reservation listed. Luckily there was a table open in the bar area.
