The food was delicious! It was our second time here and we will definitely go back!
I am taking off a star because the music was too loud to have a conversation. Also the pricing was higher for one sushi roll; especially one that wasn’t a specialty item. $18 for one roll?!
Mother's Day Brunch
We dined her for Sunday brunch, so keep in mind this review is just for that experience. Major issues were that for some reason they kept burning anything made from bread-products: the monkey bread was charred to a crisp, the kids' pancakes were burnt on the bottom, and the english muffins were over cooked and hard. The service was a bit slow but they were responsive to the burnt Monkey Bread and replaced it with the Ricotta Fritters, which were hands down the best part of the meal. Overall, I have to recommend against coming here for brunch.
Went for Mother’s Day brunch. We loved the atmosphere and the service were great as far as attentiveness and drink orders. My wife ordered sushi which was the best of the food that we ordered (had to ask for soy sauce though). The kids and I ordered from the brunch menu. The fried chicken was good but was missing the honey mustard and bacon completely (didn’t realize until we left). No condiments provided for fries (had to ask). Kids got kid box and “All American”. Their potatoes were not seasoned and no ketchup provided. English muffins had no butter (again had to ask). Kids loved the orange bears. The kitchen was slammed so perhaps that this was the issue but for the prices I expected the details to be on point.
I had made reservations for two and we had to wait to be seated. They did not have a spot for us to seat. When we were seated the chairs were terrible to sit in we were located upstairs. We came for brunch and the food was terrible the potatoes were dry eggs were dry and the muffin was nasty. They were all out of jelly out of tea and the price for the food was crazy high not worth the trouble don’t waste your time.
Food was great, service not so much. Took very long to get our food, part of food order was missing, had to wait to get the missing food which took so long we were almost finished with our meals. Had to request new mimosas, originals received had new champagne.
Overall, Kona has the potential to be an outstanding restaurant. Need to improve on overall customer service. Our experience was good but could have been better if we didn't have to move 3 times to get the right seating arrangement that was clear in the Open Table reservation. Food was great and the staff was very accommodating.
Very slow service almost took us 2hrs just for some sushi and a couple sides but food was very very good
No social distancing at EVERY table was filled and state is only at 50% capacity. People literally sitting on top of each other.
This was for a Mother's Day weekend brunch, and I understand brunch isn't a high volume activity for Kona, but there were some hiccups. First, our reservation was early, but 20 minutes before, we got a call saying there was no Front Side manager, so they could not open on time. They did call when one showed up, so we got in about 15 minutes after the reservation.
I think we were the only party in the restaurant, but we were seated at a table next to an opening in the roll down walls, so we were met with a constant cold breeze. It wasn't frigid, but certainly colder than expected when sitting inside on a May morning. The restaurant did turn the fireplace by our table on when asked, so that helped a bit.
Next, we were dealing with an allergy situation that too three orders to get something that could be considered safe for my son. We waited for all of our food for a while, presumable so it could all come out together, and we instructed the server to bring the other food out first, and his then followed a few minutes later.
Overall, our server was very polite, the mimosas were tasty, and the food was good when it came, but some of the issues could have been addressed quicker or better.

Overpriced bland food in an incredibly loud restaurant.
Made a reservation when arrived the front desk was confused. Then the text me told me table was ready the table was dirty and was an outdoor table. I said that would not work. For me and instead we sat at the bar. Our Miso Bass came out mine was slightly undercooked but I ate it my wife’s was raw so we sent back. Finally her replacement came cooked much better but took a while after. Overall the menu is great but did not care for the seating as well as how loud everything was.
Terri took very good care of us. Had a great time celebrating my birthday!

First off just wanted to say the biggest problem with this place is that im currently sick after eating here but even if I didn’t get sick I probably would still give this place a 1 star.
Very rarely do I have horrible experiences at restaurants because i avoid going to them but this place had some of highest prices for the worst food of any restaurant. The sushi is about on par with packaged sushi at the grocery store that i think is what made us sick. The potstickers were obviously reheated after being frozen with made them have a consistency of rubber. I ordered a seasonal dish that I only ordered because I couldn’t stand to navigate their awful online menu any longer and it ended up being a big bowl of soggy fries with little bits of steak fat in it. I also paid for margaritas that tasted pretty good but definitely had like a single shot of titos in it.
Places like these are the epitome of serving bad food but trying to make up for it by giving you waaay too much food with the facade that its high end. I feel bad for the workers because it seemed like whoever is running this place is probably some trustfund baby who doesn’t know what they’re doing. If an actual chef was able to fix up the menu it could be a decent place to hang. They only had 1 server on for the rooftop area on Sunday during brunch... if that doesn’t say it all about the management here.
Hey guys quick tip, i’ve worked a long time in the restaurant industry. How about instead of restricting your tables to the worst tables in your restaurant, you assign more servers to the areas people will want to sit at for BRUNCH. Like what is the point of having an outside area if you’re gonna have one overworked server assigned to it.
This place has no grasp on the basics of what makes a good restaurant experience.

Very disappointing experience. Had the reservation abs hostess said the high top table would be ready shortly as they needed to wipe the table down. Within 5 minutes table was ready and they sat another group there instead of us. We waited an additional 5 minutes and we’re out in the back. After 10 minutes of sitting there with no service I got up to use the restroom abs upon return (still no service) I went to hostess stand and asked f we needed to get our own drinks at the bar or if there was another process that we didn’t know about. Apology was made and said the server would be there right away. 5 minutes went by and then we left. The table near us said it was wise of us to do so since they had been waiting for their check first over 15 minutes.
I would be happy to try again with the hopes of a different experience p

We were very disappointed. I made a reservation for my 17 year old daughter and 3 friends. When they showed up, they had to wait awhile and then they sat them outside. The asked if they could please sit inside. They told that was not an option and they would have to talk to the main host. When they went down to the host there was a long line. They proceeded to leave. I believe they were treated unfairly because they were teenagers and dressed in prom dresses. We really like Kona Grill and was very disappointed. If I would have been there, I would have talked to a manager. They were so upset and left.
Unfortunately, this was the worst experience we have had at any restaurant lately. Food was made incorrectly (did not customize anything from what was described on the menu). Food was overcooked and not seasoned. Services was very poor (waitress made SEVERAL excuses during service from a car accident to other needy customers). Hot Sake was ordered, came out chilled. Waited another 20 minutes for it to come back out correctly. We started dinner at 7 p.m and did not leave restaurant until 8:45 p.m due to lack of service (there were only 4 of us). Ended up becoming ill after eating here. The whole experience has changed our minds about returning. Very disappointed for the price we paid on the evening.

I have to admit, we have not been here for a long time and we’re not impressed as the menu as changed and it was absolutely DELICIOUS! Very crowded, lots of family with their children. We had appetizers and our dinner along with an alcoholic beverage, impressed with service as well, definitely going back, looking forward!

Absolutely outstanding food and cocktails- the spicy, skinny margaritas are spectacular! Great service and atmosphere.
My drink and dinner order were both wrong. The drink come back perfect and was very good, but my dinner was the Kona Stir Fry w/chicken which is spicy, came back missing the spicy. The spicy is what I love most about this dish. My first dinner came as a combination of chicken and shrimp, which I don’t eat shrimp, so that’s why it was returned.
The last time we were at Kona, we had similar issues. Ugh! But sitting in the bar and outside areas, no issues.

Service was terrible. We were removed from the reservation by 'accident'. Sat at table waiting to be greeted for over 10-15 minutes. Asked for water 3 times, returned with half full glasses of water. Server was not visible entire meal. Whole experience was terrible. Have dined multiple times before, never had an experience like this. Had to ask manager to come to table. He tried to salvage our patronage and he was okay, but still made us wait yet again just to get our desserts to go. Friend ordered surf and turf, meal came out without the 'surf'. Won't be back anytime soon.

This is the second time I tried Kona Grill and not sure I will go back. First time I was seated next to vinyl outside wall during winter and froze. This time my husband and I had a reservation and waited 30 minutes. The appetizers and desserts were very good. But we had to wait a while for our drinks. We both got the prime rib which was ok. The ‘au jus’ was bland and I had to ask for the horseradish sauce, which was included in the description. Finally started eating and I was halfway through when the horseradish arrived. The asparagus was very undercook. With all the competition, in no hurry to go back.

My son ordered a Heineken Beer. He didn't realize until almost finished with it that it was the new non-alcoholic Heineken. The bottles look exactly alike and the label was turned away from him or he was holding it over the label where the "00" was on the label. We told the waitress and she apologized. It had been brought to the table by the bar staff. She ordered the regular Heineken and it was brought by her. Both beers were on our bill and we were told because he drank most of the wrong one, that was why. It was very easy to mistake that first one. Should have been complimentary. Otherwise our experience was very good.

Reservations easy. Then Greeted warmly at the door by a manager.
Took a little while for our server to come to our table but we were with friends and saw she was busy. Not a problem for us. Food selections were on target.
Enjoyed our evening during covid outside. Thank you for being available. The patio heater was great too.
