We always keep coming back for the food and the service.
The waitress took at least 15min to greet our table of 5. It seemed busy so that was fine. However when we she finally came back we ordered appetizers and it took an hour for them to come out, we were given no small plates for eating them, she didn't come back to take our food order. After waiting a while longer since finishing the apps we found her hanging out at the bar and we asked for the check bc we couldn't wait any longer to order more food. No managers came by. When we left most of the restaurant was empty- when walked down the stairs to leave you could see at least 3 staff sitting in the kitchen enjoying food themselves. Not professional.
Great food, and good service, but it was uncomfortably busy and noisy. Nothing anyone can do about that, but overall we had fun.
I would only go again during a weeknight.
The salad was very good, the food came out in a record time and was hot.

We had the unfortunate experience of being seated on the the roof top patio for a birthday celebration during an unexpected tornado warning. Needless to say the staff was severely unprepared and more panicked than the patrons themselves. Upon being told that we would have to move from the outside area to the inside seating area, once we moved inside waiting to be seated we were then immediately told to stand in the servers ally. While standing and waiting for further instructions the wait staff proceeded to bring out our meals. Not only did we not have a table to sit, instead of seating our party of 12 that included small children the staff sat other parties that arrived after us. They then split our meals up at different tables that were in different sections of the restaurant. We had to ask several different staff members to help accommodate seating and eventually sat ourselves only to find that members of our party didn’t receive their meals and our waiter argued with members of our party and insisted that it was our responsibility to walk around to the different tables in which our meals were placed to figure out who ordered what. And to top things off, in the midst of all the chaos and confusion their air conditioning was not working. We will not be dining at this establishment any time soon.
It was a very windy night. We requested an outside table because the noise both downstairs and upstairs was intolerable. It would have been impossible to hold a conversation with the friends we met with. The server seemed to forget about us. No silverware til we asked. Asked for ice several times before a busser brought us some. My salad was so wilted, I ate about a third of it. My husband finished it because he had ordered a roll that was not quite enough food for him. I’m assuming that the service was an aberration due to the weather, perhaps, so we’ll give it another try sometime. Hope the food is better.
Windows open to outside and entire restaurant was extremely uncomfortable and hot.
First visit and our waiter Adrian was fantastic! We took his recommendations and we were not disappointed. Food was wonderful. Downside, it was warm and sticky inside. It felt better outside than in. I read a previous review that had the same complaint just a day before and the response was not adequate. Its Ohio, weather is all over the place. The HVAC should be able to handle it. This isn't an issue at other restaurants in the area.
We dined upstairs outside. It was windy but such a nice view for people watching and it was less crowded and noisy than in the main dining room. Our waitress was fantastic and the service was quick. The avacado egg rolls were something I’d never seen before and absolutely fantastic! I could put the sauce that came with them on everything. When the Picasso roll says it’s spicy, it really is. The coconut shrimp roll was an unexpected treat that I enjoyed and the sake sangria had fresh raspberry purée. Overall a delicious meal and fantastic service. We will be back!

We have had Kona grill in the past and it has always been good. However, almost all of our food tasted odd/off. Service was fantastic as always.

It was extremely hot there for I could not enjoy my dinner. I order frozen margaritas and they were liquid within 3 minutes.
I sincerely apologize your visit was uncomfortable. Unfortunately with the high temperatures our system did get overloaded and we worked as diligently as possible to resolve the situation. We were sat at a dirty table and it took awhile before our server was able to take our drink order. Our appetizer was never delivered and the dining area was hot.

Absolutely delicious. The butter cream cake was phenomenal. Our overall experience was great with one exception and that was it was extremely hot upstairs. We were told that the doors would not open or broke. Other then that we had a great time there and will definitely be back.

Server and trainee basically ignored us. After finishing we waited 20mins for check and had to ask the passing manager to get the check because server and trainee wouldn’t come close enough to even flag down.

Kona has raised prices and its now expensive. Better to eat st a 4-5 star at the new rates Kona charges. A NY steak was well over $30.00 and a roll was $17 or more..the roll is very small..our dinner was very expensive.

Our first server disappeared but the next server was fantastic! Food was delicious, especially the tuna poke bowl!
The ribeye was served on a wood plank which was somewhat awkward. It leaks through the wood. It would be better served on a regular plate.

Sushi is insanely overpriced

Ordered a California roll, and the avocado was brown. It was disgusting. Unfortunately I ate two rolls before I noticed and didn’t want to send it back. However, anyone hand rolling sushi should NEVER use brown avocado. I can’t imagine how somebody preparing food could send that out to a customer.

We loved the food, but the service kind of lacked. Our server was on it at the beginning, but as time wore on, we saw less and less of her. Our water glasses had run dry, and we had to wait to place our appetizer order. The appetizer, when it finally came out, was amazing. We had to ask for silverware and napkins. Now, to be clear, this was not our first time at Kona. We have always been pleased with the service. For some reason, on this night, the service was either lacking or non existent. When we did finally get our app and our wine and our food and our silverware and napkins, it was all delicious. It was then, about 20 minutes of receiving everything we had ordered (in addition to another bottle of wine) that our server told us she had to "kick us out" because they were closing down the upper level. We hadn't seen her for an hour, and then to show up three times in 20 minutes to ceremoniously kick us out? I'm hoping that, because of Covid, they are easing back into reopening and training new staff. I can only believe she was new staff.
Am I never going to Kona Grill again? Absolutely not! I love this place! Am I going to place my order more carefully? Yes. Am I going to vet the server? Um, Yeah! Am I going to make sure the server knows what our expectations are and not rely on them being experienced enough to know. Yes.
All in all, the food was amazing and I look forward to going back there again. I do have one more request:
BRING BACK THE KONA ROLL!!! That was my go to order every time I went there. I loved it! You don't even have to make it a menu option - make it a secret menu option that you have to know about it and ask for it to get it.
Again, beautiful scenery, wonderful ambiance, amazing food... just need some work on the service end of it.

Don’t understand the purpose of making reservations! Every time I make a reservation at the Ohio location I have to wait 10 minutes or more! Then I ask for indoor seating and I’m placed in the covered outdoor seating. So I don’t get to enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant. The food was cold however my server was excellent but the hostess with braids in her hair had a horrible attitude!!!!
