We all love eating here but tonight the fish was Over cooked! The sea bass is why 2 of us come and it was way over cooked and we didn’t say anything because it had already takes longer then normal to get our food it was a long time....

Great food and service was excellent!

Sunday Brunch was perfect. The chopped salad was one of the best ever! The tuna sliders were full sized and very tasty!

Second time we have been to Kona Grill. Food is very sub par!! Better sushi at the grocery store. Entrees average at best. The menu appears appetizing based on descriptions but food is nothing like the description. We will never ever be back. The only positive is that our waitress was nice.

We had a great time! We were entertaining my brother in law from SC. He ordered a teak and loved it. He was amazed at the even pink throughout his steak. He was impressed at how evenly it was cooked! It was delicious! Our whole dinner was great as usual.

Food above average, good portions and service is usually very good. I would have given the service a perfect score except for the hostess. I don't know her name because she had no name tag on (short, dressed in short, black dress with black hose, long black hair). I hope that the management trains her in how to welcome people and communicate that a table was ready. I would assume by her lack of professionalism that she was in high school, inexperienced or both. I was embarrassed for her.

Service was great. We could’ve chosen better food options. It wasn’t bad by any means, just would’ve picked something else.

Just a wonderful experience overall.

Had an awesome birthday lunch. I ordered the spicy tuna roll and the dragon roll. Both were rolled beautifully and tasted fantastic. My friend ordered the soup of the day and pepperoni flatbread. She enjoyed both.

Great food and outstanding service. Will definitely go back again soon.

Great food as always. We went there for my daughter's 9th Birthday, which I made note of during my reservation. Unfortunately, my note was missed/ignored. I had to mention it to the server, who then put a candle in our dessert. Nobody sang to her, which was a bummer.

Easter lunch

Brunch was perfect for our Easter meal. Food was presented beautifully and flavors were perfect.

Food was very good, sushi was delicious. The service was good.

Love the sushi and sake flight special for $19.50 on Thursday nights. Yum and great kids menu. Excellent service.

Update April 8, 2018 - it's extremely rare in these times for a business to come back with double the effort to make things right with a customer. Kona did an excellent job welcoming us during our recent visit. The service was exceptional and was prompt. It was the complete opposite of what we experienced during our last visit. Not only was the service prompt but the food was finger licking good.

I wish I could tell about the experience but we had to leave early because we were not waited on even after being seated by the hostess. It wasn't a busy time at all. We were the only other occupied booth in the dining room. Kona used to be our favorite local stop for sushi but this experience will have me eyeing other options like Koto Japanese Steakhouse which is just on the other side of US 31. I don't mind waiting for a table at Sakura. At least I'll get service once I am seated.

I feel Kona is slowly drifting into the likes of Red Lobster and Bravo.

The food was very good but the service was extremely disappointing. There were 5 adults and our meal took 2.5 hours (which did include dessert). While our waitress was sweet, she was barely ever around and hardly checked on us. Every order took a long time to come out. She would always head to the kitchen and be unavailable after the few encounters. Then when the bill came she said she couldn’t split our friend’s check four ways so we could all pay for her meal. What? THEN, she goes away again into the kitchen area for at least another 15 minutes while we wait for our checks. Meanwhile my bank alert comes up on my phone that I’d been charged $216! My other friends card was charged $176! The other two actually did have the right amount charged. She never sent the manager out to explain what happened, just said “oh sorry it will come off”. I was lucky I had enough in my account because even though it’s pending it still freezes my funds with this wrong charge. So aggravating. That was Saturday and now it’s Monday with no correction. The manager said it would be corrected in a day or so and was cocky about the mistake & we all felt he was diminishing the mistake. It was a $216 mistake, sir! My bill was supposed to be $49. He was not offering us anything but “free dessert”, nor did he say he was cancelling our charges. If we hadn’t already been there almost 3 hours I would have put up more of a fight, but I just wanted to leave. That charge better be corrected by tomorrow. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Only thing that was good was the food at least. Be warned.

Food was great. Service was absolutely awful. We waited forever for an order of edamame and eventually had to ask for it and two orders of sushi. The only thing I can figure is the order was “lost”. One order of sushi came out wrong and got sent back. When it came out again it was missing an ingredient. The taste and quality of the entrees were fabulous, but given the price point in relation to service, not sure we’ll be back any time soon.

Think this was her first time as a waitress. Struggling with keeping up.
Also basically my wine was 1/4 glass.

Love the Thursday night sushi and sake flight special - this made the decision of where we were going Thursday night. Such a great deal and job with kids meals - balanced (cute animal orange) and priced right in the bento box. Love Kona.

Service was great , one minor thing was the meals ( party of two ) were brought out about 5 -7 minutes in between each other .

Awesome food and service!

Had dinner with business colleagues. The spicy shrimp tempura appetizer was excellent. Two of us had pan seared tuna which was very good. The 3rd person in our party had a sushi platter and roll and said it was very good. It looked like a very generous portion, including a salad.

Kona is a very nice place for a nice dining experience at a reasonable price. Sushi is really good and the atmosphere is nice. Anything in Clay Terrace is worth the effort/drive to get there.

The sushimi in this restaurant is excellent quality the best in Indianapolis. The poke bowl was my favorite. I would go back just to order the poke bowl over and over again. Thank you to our server he was very attentive.

Kona is in my top favorite places to eat in Carmel, truth be told I have a lot to discover about Carmel dining. Everything about Kona has been mostly pleasurable. The staff are all friendly and accomodating. The sushi has been very tasty minus one pretty terrible experience. And every visit has been plagued by gnats... and the one time there was no gnats a spider came down in front of my face while the server was taking my order.

But the place is nice, really it is!

Sushi and steak were delicious. The restaurant was very loud but still a fun atmosphere.

Server forgot about us for over 20 minutes then looked dumbfounded and thrown off guard when I asked for a box and our bill. She was pleasant but maybe she just lost track of time on a slow Thursday lunch.

Great happy hour specials, well worth the money. You might get there early if hitting happy hour, it can get crowded.

The food was great and our waiter was outstanding - very friendly and helpful but not obtrusive. He also had a great personality!

Not as impressed as we used to be. But think it’s more of just having the same selection for awhile. Quality is just not as high as before but really overall still a good restaurant overall.

Great experience for a family dinner with our kids. The sushi was wonderful and the kids meals were fantastic!

Our first time to Kona Grill. Everything was outstanding. Good, service, value, ambiance, everythingvwas done well. We will be back!
