Kona Grill - Boca Park Ratings and Reviews
This time came back with guests as the service and meal was so good, we wanted to share. My spouse and I shared the Mahi Mahi (cooked to perfection) with summer squash and white rice. Our guests had the Cuban Sandwich and the Philadelphia roll. Everyone went away satisfied and happy; the service was warm and friendly and we will be back again, even if we don't have company the next time. :)
Took a short drive from the Strip to have dinner at the Summerlin version of Kona Grill. I actually thought it was better than their restaurant in the Fashion Show Mall. The food was delicious, particularly the flank steak and the spicy yellowtail roll. $10 sake by the bottle was a great deal.
Ordered the fish tacos, spicy tuna roll flat bread and lettuce wraps. Was enjoying my dinner until I found a bug in my lettuce wraps. Lost my appetite after that. The waitress removed the dish, didn't offer anything in the form of an apology besides removing the item from the bill. Very disappointed. Won't be going back.
I was very disappointed with the food (I had the sushi sampler) and I felt it was expensive fot what you get. Ordered the coconut shrimp roll to go and the portion was small for the price. Have had much better lunch there in the past. What's happened to Kona Grill?????
They changed the menu and they took off a few of my favorites. However, everything was GREAT!!! Our Server Tim was amazing...attentive without being intrusive. Very energetic and friendly...we were there to spend time with family and everything went perfect. Everyone enjoyed the food...sushi was yummy...dessert was fabulous. If you get the chance go you will not be disappointed!!
Kona Grill has always been a favorite of locals. Their outdoor dining is energetic and good for people watching. The menu is eclectic and affordable. The sushi sampler is a favorite of mine. Delicious.
The renovation of the retaurant interior is open seating and very noisy. It is difficult to have a conversation with your company because of the noise level. Maybe the restaurant could install sound proofing or customers could be given ear plugs.
attempted to order some drinks and were told not available. The bar was going through a change and several items were not available. They were changing the bar menu and new items and new menu would be available on 8/2. I understand that this happens however providing an outdated bar menu should not be given to customers.
Nothing to say but disappointed. As someone who dines often at the Carmel, Ind. location, I was excited to see a Kona Grill near our hotel in Vegas. I was really looking forward to dining there. Calamari was bland, salad was overdressed. Although they have a vegetarian and vegan menu, the selections were minimal. Service was slow, I was nearly finished with my dinner when the glass of wine that I had ordered to enjoy WITH my meal, finally arrived. I thought our server had completely forgotten it.
On the positive side, I do appreciate the accommodation of our group of 7 (our reservation was for 4).
The food was good but not great overall. For example, the mashed potatoes were among the best I've had, and the jasmine green tea was refreshing and nicely balanced. By contrast, the carrot cake was nothing special and the salmon on the "cajun salmon pasta" (or similar) was tasty but a little dry. The presentation of the children's oranges was quite creative--nice touch.
The waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable but a little slow with getting us the check. It's possible he was waiting for two people who left early to return, which wasn't going to happen.
I plan to return since there are still a few items I'd like to try and the restaurant does a good job overall. I'd return more often if there were more vegetables in the dishes or some tasty vegetable side dishes.
So in general they have two types of food - good,
but overpriced or happy hour - which is smaller and not good. On this trip I choose the later and "Happy Hour cost $20 a person for one drink and one menu item"
I also booked on Opentable - I was motivated by the 1,000 point table. I showed up on time for my reservation. And while being sat, the hostess said '...do you want to sit here (literally one other table in restaurant, or do you want to sit in the bar area at a hightop, it's the full menu + the happy hour menu at almost half the costs?" Um sure we can sit at a high top.... I didn't think about her cancelling an OpenTable reservation, because that's a ridiculous business practice. But in fact, that's exactly what she immediately did. So my thoughts? Umm, Kona Grill is a deceptive restaurant. They lured me in with the 1,000 point table, only to sit me in happy hour & cancel the reservation, it was definitely intentional. And It's clear it was a business practice, because no hostess in the world would actually care to do it themselves.... Bottom line, the happy hour was terrible - both food & drink - it's not the same since it was renovated. And I am not going back.... Also - posting similar commentary on social channels, because they have it coming to them.
