Kona Grill - Baltimore Ratings and Reviews
The first time that I have gone to a Kona Grill. It is not bad but not memorable. Usually when you try to do as much as they do by way of your menu, you get mediocracy. Its great for a quick bite or if you are looking for something between bar food and a really nice restaurant.
Our servicer (Cena, I think was her name) was really nice, polite and attentive.
The food was awesome as usual. I had the avacado chicken club which was perfect, a little messy to eat but so delicious. My friend had the pad tye (sp?) w/chicken & shrimp and it looked really good.
We will be back, probably next week! :)
We enjoyed a very nice lunch at Kona Grill. We had two of our regular favorites from the menu, the macadamia nut chicken and the Kona chopped salad. Both were well- prepared and delicious. Our server was friendly and attentive. We are very glad Kona is in our neighborhood.
First time at Kona Grill and very nicely surprised. Went to celebrate our anniversary and found the food and service to be terrific. We told our waiter we wanted to take our time and we actually were able to relax and enjoy our drinks, appetizers and meals at a leisurely pace. The aquarium at the entrance was also very enjoyable to see.
It was the Thursday night of a Raven’s Home football game. The bar was crowded but the restaurant, not so much. We had reservations so had no problem getting our table. The server was friendly enough but it took almost 40 minutes to get our drinks. She offered bread for the table, which we never got. Everything took a long time - most especially anything that had to go with drinks. Took a long time to get the check settled. The management should have staffed better in light of the football game crowds! Food was tasty enough but it was not worth a two hour dinner.
My date didn't like her meal at all and I couldn't eat mine -- a hamburger ordered medium rare that came out as a hockey puck. The server agreed with me it was wrong and offered to have it redone but because of how long it took to get the meal, we didn't have time to wait and I had to run off to an appointment hungry. They did take the cost of the burger off our check but it still was not a pleasant experience.
Swatting away fruit flies the entire time, waiting for 45 minutes between ordering and getting food, our appetizers and entrees coming out 5 minutes apart, and not seeing our server that entire 45 minutes. Not a great start to the only night we were in Baltimore.
We had a great time at Kona Grill Saturday evening. The food was delicious, the drinks were great and our waitress, Jasmine, was excellent. She offered drink and entree recommendations and was spot on for both! She was very friendly and made the experience very enjoyable. Management is lucky to have her there. When we return, we will request her as our server.
We were unexpectedly delighted with Kona Grill. There were four of us and everyone loved their meal: steak, pulled pork, salmon, and lemon shrimp. My brother-in-law was talking about his pulled pork sandwich the next day. The hostesses and waitress were gracious and helpful and fast.
Food was ok but service was horrrible. It took over 10 mins for our waitress to even get basic drink orders. Food came out before appetizers. The lemon from my drink fell into my husband's sake and the waitress just laughed it off, no replacement offered. My friend had to ask over 5 times for a box to take the rest of her cake back.
The chicken chili I ordered was amazingly flavorful and tasted great. Our server was very generous in providing enough sour cream to make me happy. Often restaurants will not give enough condiments and I often have to ask for more repeatedly. Not the case at Kona Grill.
Let me tell you about this amazing place. First of all it was delicious and both the waitress and manager were a hoot to converse with. But several months ago when I made this reservation I wanted to be funny to see if they would follow through with it.
So in the “special request” box on the website I put “I want a picture of Zoidberg from Futurama on my table for when I get there” AND THEY DID IT!!! I get there and I lose my mind when I see it and my family had no idea I did it. This 5-STAR RESTAURANT put a picture of an anthropomorphic crab-thing on my freaking table. Made my entire vacation! Macadamia nut chicken was delicious and the carrot cake was massive. Would absolutely come back.
This was our first time at a Kona Grill and we were not disappointed! We headed here for an early lunch before catching a ballgame, which is just a short walk away, so super convenient. Our server was just wonderful - attentive and professional, while also super friendly and fun... he just seemed to really enjoy what he was doing, which was a pleasure. We had three adults and three children, so we shared multiple appetizers, all of which were delicious. Two of our kids ordered from the kids' menu and really enjoyed their food (which is saying a lot for our picky crew); and all of us were pleased with our entrees. Overall a great experience!
I have eaten at Kona in the past but it was the first time for my wife and her sister. We had a mixture of appetizers and main courses for dinner. The Sushi was very good. We had the Coconut Shrimp with Mango Sushi and a Philadelphia Roll. We also had pot stickers for the table. They were spicy and very tasty. Excellent flavor. They were slightly crisp on the edges which gave it a nice flavor and a tender crunch. The dipping sauce seemed to be soy sauce and vinegar and was very bland. Regular soy sauce tasted better with the pot stickers. Just a thought...the dipping sauce needs a little more creativity, maybe a pineapple or orange marmalade with a little zip.
The main courses were pork tenderloin and Pad Thai. The pork was very tender and flavorful but too heavy with garlic for my sister. Can't describe the Pad Thai. It was unlike anything I've ever had. It was good, but I wouldn't order it again. The shrimp and chicken in the Pad Thai were both tender. The sauce was creamy and heavy with a hot sauce or oil flavor. It reminded me of a tomato sauce combined with hot sauce, vinegar and cream. This would not be my favorite dish.
Our Server was charming! She was so perky, personable and very friendly. She appeared to really enjoy her job and meeting with her customers. She really went out of her way to serve us and chat with us! (It was a quiet evening.)
We would return to Kona Grill to try other dishes...or maybe a meal of appetizers! Delicious. We would also recommend Kona Grill to our friends.
Our server was not knowledgeable about wine that was on the menu. As I was still eating but my adult son was finished she was in a hurry to clear his plate and offer a dessert menu, which I told her to wait on. The restaurant at that point was not full. I found this very annoying.
This was always our go to spot when we were at the inner harbor because it was festive and had great food and service. This time was very disappointing. We arrived about 20 minutes ahead of our 7:00 reservation but were seated immediately because it was dead, even at dinner time on a Saturday night. It took a good 15 minutes for our server to take our drink order and then another 30 minutes for the drinks to be delivered, as we were finishing our appetizers. Yup 30 minutes just for the bar to make 3 drinks and it was a slow night. Service was slow and inattentive . The food was still pretty good. When I got home I got an email from Open Table saying that we had missed our reservation, despite the fact that when we got there we told them we were early for our reservation and gave them my name and reservation time. So to ad insult to injury I had to take time to write an email to Open Table, although Kona Grill obviously had a credit card receipt with the same last name as the reservation. It seems like they are having issues with poor management. I hope they can fix their issues.
We chose the Kona Grill because it was close to Camden Yards where we would be attending the O's-Tigers game. We were seated exactly at the time we had for our reservation. Corinne, our server, could not have been more charming. She came with a big smile, lots of energy, and an at-your-service attitude. She made sterling suggestions when we asked her for help with the menu choices. She was attentive to us without being intrusive. When we left we continued to talk about her personality and her work ethic. Kona Grill is incredibly fortunate to have her on their staff. We think they should double her base pay. If people did not appreciate the food at Kona Grill I believe they would still come just to be served by Corinne.
Awesome time for all, a bit noisy for some but service was prompt and welcoming. Sabre our attendant was polite and helpful in describing some of the ingredients new to our awareness. We did a happy hour for four, inclusive of two rounds and it came out to a little under $100. Only note to the establishment and diners, be wary of the copper cups they keep your drinks ice cold, but will leave you with a metallic aftertaste with prolonged usage.
Four of enjoyed a pleasant lunch at Kona Grill. We each selected entrees from a creative menu - macadamia nut chicken, grilled tuna with tropical salsa, and Kons chopped salad. All were well-prepared, presented, and satisfying. Service was friendly and attentive.
