If you go for happy hour value is much better. Paying $19 for a spicy tuna roll is expensive. Paying $9 during happy hour is fine. The service was great Dantez was phenomenal. Our drinks and food were wonderful. Went back later for dessert.

The service was good. And the food was good. But the restaurant is in very poor condition, and the women's bathroom was disgusting. The host had no customer service skills. Their needs to be better communication between the servers and managers as to what the specials are, like the datenight deal. Because our server had no idea. I'm grateful that the manager honored it anyway. We would definitely not return, though.

Sadly, the service (waiter) was unpleasant and uninviting. The young kid took more than 15 minutes to even greet us/ask for our drinks (there were only 2 other customers there at 1230pm on a Saturday). Kid was unknowledgeable when asked certain questions about meals (wife is pregnant, and she simply asked if a certain fish was baked or fried, he could not determine if it was. Then we asked another question about different sushi types and again, no answer and did not go back to check). We paid more than $100 of food for 4 sushi rolls. The flavor was ok, not worth the $100 though. Personally, I'd say more average quality sushi taste and did the sushi not taste fresh at all. If it were not for the large portion/roll size (6 pieces or 8 pieces per roll depending on what you ordered) I'd say they should have been priced near $50-60 for 4 sushi rolls - since that seems to be the going rate at most sushi establishments. For almost $25 a sushi roll, it should be fresh. . . . I mean Wegmans sushi is fresher. . . and thats a grocery store. As for the waiter, we never got refills of water, and when it came time to pay, we just opted for the automated credit card device at our table because we could not find our waiter when we wanted to pay - again, there were only 2 other guests/patrons at the restaurant other than us.

Service is very poor. I received more apologies than on time food. I asked for a glass of wine and it took 20 minutes with me asking about it again. My wife never got her starter and the sangria she ordered look more like a margarita. Seemed like they did what they wanted instead of what we requested. Then they tried to give me a 20% discount instead of the 50% advertised one. I will not ever go there again.

Just no. It was dead. And ridiculously overpriced for qhat we got. One app, which was good but cold, two mains, my husband prime rib super overcooked and 1 glass wine plus his drink over $200. We will never do again.not worth it. Epic fail and wish wed never gone. Huge waste of money

I don’t know where to begin. I walked into an empty restaurant to be told that they were only taking reservations. I go outside and made a reservation for 10 minutes later. Get in and order a drink and 45 minutes later still no drink. My food came out before my drink (table of 8 at that). My fries were stale and cold. I asked for ketchup and it never came out.

A disappointing dinner. The restaurant was half full, and as a large party (8) we expected things to be busy on a Sat Night, but were surprised at how easily we got a reservation. It took 20 minutes to order drinks, half our table got their drinks half of the table waited another 30 minutes. Their drinks were still missing when we ordered dinner. There was no flagging down the waitress- she was very hard to find, rarely checked back. We finally ordered food- 40 min later half our food arrived. It wasn’t until the waitress appeared 20 minutes later asking how everything was that we were able to tell her half our food hadn’t come out. Realizing she likely never added half the food- the manager became involved and food was thrown in quickly. The meals that did arrive were missing the key ingredients ( the chicken from the chicken pad thai) three of them were missing it. By the end, we just wanted to pay and get out but half our party was still without food after over 2 hours. Manager helped reconcile the bill but overall between the wild service, the wrong food orders or lack of food and very, very long wait times. We will not be back.

Kona Grill used to be a great restaurant but this location and experience changed my mind. The restaurant was run down and dirty, with blue lighting and broken bathrooms. The food was awful and the place was empty.

The bartender was also our server. Phoebe was very attentive polite and helpful. The food we did get was delicious but pricy just for sweet potato fries and Brussel sprouts. The flight was delicious and will be the reason I go back again. 7/10 over all for me as far as dining options. They do have affordable lunch and dinner specials.

We had a reservation and waited an hour after being sat before anyone came to our table, even trying to get attention of the servers and the managers. When the food finally came, the drinks were sent back twice and the staff was completely rude. I have frequently visited for work and they could not handle, the volume of tables within the restaurant that night due to events in town. It was awful. I do not recommend, and if I could give zero stars I would.

The restaurant was so busy due to an Orioles game and the concert at M&T Stadium. Although we had reservations, we were seated at a high top at the bar, at one of the worst tables. It was in front of the patio door and the air from the a/c was blowing so hard, it blew the menu and our hair around. We had to move the table out of the path of the airflow. Service was very slow due to it being so busy and our server was one of the bartenders, not a dining room server. The prime rib was very thin and the flavor wasn’t very good. It had an odd spice flavor to it, not sure what it was, maybe nutmeg? I’m sure that service is better when there isn’t an Orioles game or a concert. Still, we wouldn’t chance it and probably wouldn’t go back.

I am sure many will slam Kona Grill for Saturday nights perfect storm. Like many restaurants, they are at a disadvantage when staff does not show up, as was the case on Saturday with a large amount of reservations from the SN/BJ concert and the Os game. We were told of a 30 min wait even with a reservation (seated at 20 min) and a 25 min wait until our waiter came for our drink order. We immediately ordered our full meal and everything came out within 10 min- allowing us to make the concert on time. The food, as usual, was great. All but one of the staff were hustling beyond belief and doing the best they could. While waiting for our table, we hear d(and we counted) 17 others come in with 5pm reservations. This does ot count those before us with 4:45pm or those who came after us. Who ever controls the reservation timing (I am a former waitress) and thinks the bar and kitchen, let alone the staff, can handle a 350 (?) seat venue with, I heard, over 200 reservations that evening is ridiculous. I am sure those 200 were all within an hour of each other. A good owner/manager would activate the limits to provide his team a path to succeed, not create a lot of disappointment. I think that is what makes me most upset- the staff could not have possibly won yesterday because someone chose not to support them. Everyone is learning how to work with the no-shows in the service industry, but provide your team some hope of success. Receiving an email on Friday cancelling my reservation would not have been the best, but framing it as wanting to provide the best possible service to me, the client, would ease some of the pain and give me time to recover. And shows you respect your staff and clients. Disappointing- fix your Open Table parameter or I feel you will lose both.

Really disappointing meal at Kona this time. Have been here many times before and have been pleased. Not this time. Place was crowded, but still no excuse to be completely ignored for 15 minutes (not even water given); zero acknowledgement by any of the servers even when trying to get their attention. Once we actually got a waiter he was great. The 3 stars is for the wait and complete ignoring of our table. Poke bowls were good as were the fish sliders. But everything came at once. That was ok because we were going to a concert, but was a bit weird since we had given the order as appetizers and then main courses. Now the fail. The pad Thai is usually really good. This time it was horrible. Had it with tofu. The tofu was coated in something (maybe rice flour) but it wasn’t really cooked so it became a mushy mess. The noodles also didn’t taste the same as in the past. Really disappointing. To be fair, Baltimore was very crowded the day we went with an O’s game, something at the convention center and a huge concert, but they knew about this for weeks. Staff up. Don’t ignore guests. No need to rush the food when the mains were done at the same time as the apps. Had this been my first experience here I wouldn’t be back. Since I’ve had great meals before, I will go back but this was really disappointing.

Purpose of visit: to help celebrate a friend's birthday. (a Sat) before going to see Billy Joel @ M&T. A real "night on the town"! None of us had been there before. I arrived early to set up the table; they gave us a lovely table out on the enclosed porch. Beautiful view of the city, lots of sun. Ventilation created a very relaxing "gentle breeze" effect. The aquariums were impressive- even met a very cute fish who will come right over and say hello! Front staff very nice and helpful. At 4 pm it wasn't very busy. As our visit progressed it got jam packed- every table and every seat at the bar was taken. Our waitress Diamond was very nice, I could see, however that the restaurant is in need of more staff- especially at high volume times. This of course is a nationwide problem. so I know they are doing their best and appreciate the staff they have. However, the chicken in the birthday girl's dinner was burned badly: all pieces were completely black and charred- I"ve never seen anything like it. it looked as if the cook sprayed the meat with lighter fluid and lit a match to it. This is not a matter of individual preference on how people like their meat cooked- it looked like burnt toast. This plate should never have left the kitchen; the fact that it did means they are truly stressed and so overwhelmed that they can't even recognize inedible food. The husband of the birthday girl has a limit on what he can eat and ordered a simple soup and a side of mashed potatoes. He sent them both back, as they were cold. He never received a replacement for either. So he ended up just eating a few pieces of the sushi we had ordered for sharing.The sushi saved him from going to the concert without having eaten anything at all. On a positive note, the sushi was absolutely yummy and delicious, very fresh and flavorful. Our fourth guest ordered shrimp tacos, and they looked and tasted scrumptious. I enjoyed the poke bowl with meslun and shrimp and the Southsides (drink) were a delight

Waiter was nice but they were just so understaffed. Food was fair at best. Had pad tai which is a standard dish but had some strange salty sauce, more like a stir fry. Not good. Potstickers were fried but at least hot and good when they came out. Never even got the drinks we ordered or water refilled. Weren’t charged but… Manager dropped off food and heard him yell over to waiter about us needing water but still never came. Saw several other people getting up from tables to try to get things they needed. Table next to us left full drinks as they came as they were leaving. They just kept bringing people in the door when they couldn’t take care of the current customers. Really disappointing and wished we had picked a different spot.

This was our first time dining here. We had a concert to go to that started at 8PM so we made reservations in advance and got to the restaurant at 6pm. There were no tables available when we got there so decided to go to the bar area and sit. It took a little while to get waited on but understandably the bartender was working the bar and taking orders. Our order was in about 6:15. We inquired about our order several times as 7pm was approaching quickly. Each time, we were told that our order would be checked on and each time we heard nothing. Finally at 7:10, I went to the bar to tell them if our food was not out by 7:15, we had to leave. Another waiter stepped in, checked on our food and had it out by 7:20. Obviously, I was not able to enjoy the food and only took a couple bites before we had to get our check and get out of there. The food was actually very good, but I would definitely not try to go back in front of a concert for fear that I would not get out in time. We barely made it to our seats at CFG Arena for the start of the show.

We were seated 30 min past our reservation time. Didn't get waited on until 15 min seated. Brought the wrong order out and couldn't figure out how to remove it off the bill. Ended up discounting our dinner for the cost of the wrong meal. Didn't bring 2 items ordered on top of that. Food wasn't great.

Don’t go! Waited to be seated with a reservation for 15 minutes. Bar tender was less than friendly. Bar top and tables in bar area were dirty. Waited an hour (no exaggeration) once we were seated for a glass of wine (our server kept saying the bar was “really backed up”. Server knew we had concert tickets. After waiting for 1.5 hours without food we left. They credited our drinks. Frankly that accommodation was a joke!
