the service we received at Kona Grill Baltimore was not good. We were told it was an especially busy Monday night but the restaurant wasn't even 1/2 full. We were in our seats for more than 30 minutes without getting our first drinks from the bar. When they did arrive they were very good. Our appetizer was never ordered. When our food came the temperatures on one plate were wildly inconsistent. I would not recommend this restuarant to someone even if it was the only choice. We chose it because of its proximity to Royal Farms Arena but would choose something different another time.
It started off fairly well with the chicken satay but then the rest of the meal came out. Underwhelming, to say the very least. They did work to try to make the experience better but it ended up feeling a bit awkward.
Service was slow, food was luke warm or cold, one entrée was completely missed and had to be reordered, wine glass was dirty and had to be replaced, very noisy in the patio area.
The chicken on my cilantro chicken skewers was woody, like woody chicken breast. Bad texture and taste. Service was spotty, we waited a long time for food and check.
We felt completely ignored by our waitress since it was just the two of us. We waited 10 minutes before someone came by to get our drink orders. Our waitress never came by for refills and took forever to get us the check. Food was great, we were just disappointed with the lackluster service.
Long wait for food. Others were seated long after us and received their food way before. We never complained, just noticed. At one point, our waiter finally seemed to realize this too and said he’d rush them. Rush them he did, my cauliflower hash that I was told I can’t switch out was not hash, just florets. My salmon was raw, literally raw. I always order a water with lemon, not because I’m cheap, but because of health reasons. While this isn’t a big deal and it happens at a lot of places, it’s an annoyance. The first cup was water with lemon. The second was just water. I don’t understand why waiters think you just want water the next time. I understand the cost, I’ll pay for the lemon. When I complained about the food (which I rarely do), I didn’t get a apology. He just said he’d take it off the bill. As we were getting up to leave, the manager finally came over. He didn’t really apologize though either. He just said they’re busy, it was unusual and the fish was still edible raw, not raw enough to make me sick. I type this as I sit on the toilet for the 8th time since eating there (I took a bite of salmon before realizing it), going number one out of my number two. Sorry, too much information and too many options to ever think of going back there.
I’ve been going to Kona for years. I’m never disappointed. The vday menu was delicious. Valet parking was good also. Perfect bday dinner.
Service was great, most of the food was good.
Was a little scary when too many people came to us after we had already been serviced. but overall, great visit.
Came on a date with my husband for Valentine’s Day. Loved the food and ambiance
Meh. Mediocre food. Sugar added to everything. Odd smell. Limited wine options.
The patio is too loud for a business lunch - I’ll need to remember that and be more specific when I make a reservation there next time.
The food is usually pretty good for the most part. I feel like they rushed our order this time and it just didn't have the same presentation. Some of it was a little undercooked. Maybe they were under the pressure because of the lunch hour. And btw, bread should be a standard item while you wait. Other than that, I will keep coming back.
Always and fabulous experience from the time one walks in the door!!! Thank you.
We waited for over 30 minutes for our table, it took forever to get our food and no one could order more than 1 drink in a two
Hour time span because the service was so in frequent. I will never go back.
I had an important meeting with my boss, so I asked for booth seating away from the bar and tables for casual diners. Instead, we were sat at a table amongst a raucous crowd of convention-goers. It was far too loud and we could barely hear each other speak.
Our server had his trainee serve our table, and she had no sense of how interruptive she was when coming to our table.
I will avoid Kona for these types of lunch meetings in the future.
Annual lunch with staff.
Service was quick and food was great. Will return on my next trip to Baltimore.
It was moderately busy as there was a convention but it was so disorganized and the staff seemed overwhelmed. I can’t imagine what it would have been like had there been a line at the door and people waiting... we had a group of 10 and while the server was friendly, she was overwhelmed and forgot to order an entree. It showed up as everyone else was finished (the manager comped it). Furthermore we all were ready to pay and leave, everyone declined dessert, and she went into a full pitch about their desserts; people were annoyed. Food was good, but they didn’t have enough dishes and ran out of trays for soy sauce so we had to use large plates - not easy.
Disappointed to say the least.
Great food. Even better food.
All was great!
Nice vibe, great food! Service was ok, but didn’t matter since we were so happy with the items we ordered. We had the margarita flight and a Blue Moon to drink. Calamari, Cuban sandwich, chopped Kona salad, and bbq chicken flatbread were all shared between us because we just couldn’t decide! Everything we ordered turned out perfectly. Very good date night experience 🙂
La carta era un poco lío. Nos costó entender y saber que queríamos. La calidad de la comida buena, compartimos entre dos. El sitio es algo viejo pero el servicio es bueno. Si queréis salir del paso bien pero no es nada espectacular
My 1st experience at Kona about a yr ago was awesome. Not so much this time. Ist off, they didn't have our reservation yet someone personally called to confirm. She did go ahead and seat us AFTER I should proof of reservation. Our server was nice. However she disappeared often and we had to ask for napkins and silverware. And when she did come to the table I felt rushed. Wait time was much longer than expected. Unfortunately I didn't like the dish I ordered. Apparently the guys in the kitchen were annoyed I sent it back. I could hear there conversations. The 2nd dish was better but not fantastic. Im not
sure if Im returning to Kona. Thats not the Christmas experience I was looking for
The server was extremely slow and distracted. It ruined the whole dinner.
The waiter left us sitting for a long time before initially coming to our table. The food took a long time and the waiter took a long time coming back when we were done. There were barely ten customers in the restaurant and the service was poor. This was far different from our first experience.
Quiet atmosphere... food was delicious... server was very friendly & attentive to everyone at the table
Food is always great. One of my go-to places for business/casual dining.
Mediocre entrees. Slow service - the place was not crowded.
The food was tasty but the menus were sticky, service was poor and quite slow. The manager offered us free dessert which was nice, but I'd rather it were cleaner.
Waiter and food were really good.
Great place to go to be with family, friends, or other.
App arrived after our food. Chicken skewers were very dry. Out of red wine...server mixed up our drink orders.
Delicious food. Polite and friendly waitstaff. Was so good the first night, we went back the very next night! Accommodated a customer’s food allergy needs. Enjoyed it immensely.
Service was not good. Food wasn't horrible, but I definitely wouldn't go back.
Forever for drinks. Waitress very nice and stated down bartenders. Not her fault.
The Picasso Sushi roll (rated a favorite) was clearly premade and mostly tasteless. Sushi can’t be made that quickly. Our server, Adam, was nice enough but rarely attentive as I expect he was too busy elsewhere. We won’t be back.
The Manager sucked. He was very unprofessional and had a very cocky attitude and persona for no reasoning. There was customers peeing on the floor from being so intoxicated. There was a screw found in someone's food. Overall it was disgusting! We weren't even compensated in any way for this horrible experience. This was my FIRST and LAST time visiting this spot. Also, for it to be a Sushi grill the sushi sucked!
This place is very nice and the sushi was excellent. Not much of a draft beer selection but made do with what they had. Definitely going back, it was very good.
