Kona Grill - Austin Ratings and Reviews
Always used to get the Chicken pesto pasta. Many times in fact over the years...so now they remove from menu. I get the cheeseburger sliders. Ask for well done. One was perfect. One was extremely red barely cooked......service was slow yet they were not overly busy
They did make good on the burger and the sushi enjoyed by my spouse was good
I was really pleased with Kona Grill at the Domain, in Austin. The food was very fresh, we had sushi. The atmosphere was nice. It was a little bit noisy.. but not too bad. Service was great. We got seated fast. I made a reservation but we didn't need it. It was the evening before Thanksgiving, so it probably is more crowded on a different day. Parking can be a little challenging at the Domain. I didn't have an issue though. Great evening. Loved the Picasso Roll.
Our waiter was amazing, the food was great, first time eating at Kona but probably my last time due to poor management and poor bartender knowledge. I arrived with two friends and sat by the bar, me and my friends noticed a clearly drunk gentleman staring at my friends, other ladies and myself. A table next to us complained about the gentlemen but no quick action was taken. Then the gentleman approached our table and would not leave until finally told to leave by my friend. We told our waiter and he quickly apologized and said the manager was taking care of it but we looked and he was just standing in the kitchen. Our waiter left and the gentleman approached us again and was persistently asking if he can buy us drinks, it took my friend going up to the manager herself to get the man kicked out.
The bartenders should have realized the man was clearly intoxicated and not served him.
The manager should have responded as soon as the first table complained.
Other than that great food.
We really like the food at Kona but this is the 3rd visit in a row where it took over 20 minutes to get our food and then we didn’t get all of it at once and had to wait longer to get all of it. It’s unfortunate that the service is not good when we really like everything else about the restaurant
We had a party of 8 for a co-worker's birthday during lunch. The restaurant wasn't busy. All of our food was brought out except the bday person's (seared tuna). When I inquired with the waitress, she said she didn't have enough hands and was going back to grab it. But, we still waited a bit and then the manager came up to us and said it would be out shortly, which means it wasn't ready. The waitress didn't refill any sodas and only refilled my water once. We all ordered dessert and all had empty drinks before and during the entire dessert round. The food was delicious, but we had the misfortunate of a pretty bad server.
it was my first time my boyfriend and i dined at Kona Grill and absolutely loved it! we loved the food and the atmosphere. started w an appetizer-calamari, drank moscato, then had sushi rolls, and ended w the butter cake. great portions. cant wait to come back.
We are so pleasantly pleased by our dining experience at Kona Grill. Everything from A-Z was superb! The food was excellent the service was Exceptional and the ambiance was perfect! Our server ALAN is a natural people person who knows how to please his customers. He is very attentive and endearing. The chicken pot stickers are the best we've ever had and the 12 oz. Burger my husband polished off was satisfying! We will return to Kona Grill again!
Food did not come out as ordered. Husband ordered a burger medium and it came out rare. Then they took it back and it still wasn't right but he ate it anyways as I was already finished with my meal before his came back out. They didn't even apologize for his food coming out was after I was finished eating mine. The knats are bad in there as well.
Alan, The associate manager was a Star!
Food was as great as I remember last time I was there! So impressed w/ their Corporate Creativity to have a Sushi donation fundraiser for their displaced Houston employees from Hurricane Harvey. I even tried their Sushi Lol-i-pops , which were Great too.
We celebrated a family birthday. The children and teens were happy with the menu as well as the adults. The only thing I wished for was more special recognition for the birthday boy from the resturant, such as a free desert or special drink.
I would go back just for the food. The meal was delicious.
Will never go back. I've been plenty of times for happy hour and it was fine. This time was for dinner with friends. They've always had a wine fly problem and this time was no different. That, plus poor service, mediocre food, and no toilet paper on either of the two rolls in the stall cemented my poor review. It took forever to get drinks-cocktails came faster than the beer ???? And when I ordered a glass of conundrum without realizing they offer it in white and red, the server didn't bother to clarify and brought me red. Which was not what I wanted. So now I wait ten more minutes for the right drink. And I'm sorry but if you run a decent establishment, you restock the TP regularly. The place was packed and I can't understand why. Do not bother.
We went to Kona Grill for dinner and some drinks. The hostess was very friendly and welcoming. It took a while for our waitress to come over. I thought this was partly because our entire party was not there yet. However, I was wrong - it was because our waitress was pretty neglectful of our table most of the night. In fact, we ran out of water and waited an extremely long time before we were able to flag her down and give us refills. It was extremely annoying. On the other hand, our food was delicious. If our experience dealt only with the food, it would have been near perfect. Please train your staff on how to check on tables periodically, and keep up the work with the delicious food.
Nice restaurant. We got there around 16.30, right in the middle of staff change. Food was good, service was pretty slow, should not have to wait 10 mins for refills, sauces etc... There were so many non working employees just standing around and chit chatting. Food was nice but always waiting for simple stuff made the experience an okay one!
We started out with the potstickers and taco trio. The potstickers were very dry and crumbly. It could have used more flavor and binding in the mixture, the dipping sauce was not very tasty. The trio taco was ok. Our entrees were the seared tuna which was probably the best out of the three entries, jambalaya, soft shell crab roll and pork sliders. Very pricey for the food you get and not a very creative menu that wowed us. Unfortunately, we invited friends to your restaurant since we were in the area. It was quite embarrassing almost $200 later
We had never visited Kona Grill before, but the staff was so attentive, and the food so good, I'm sure we'll be back many times.
Mikel waited on our table, and he made the experience fantastic. He was very charming, extremely knowledgeable about the menu, and quick to provide recommendations. Super nice guy overall!
Our table was reserved and ready for our arrival. We had a group of 6 and our server was great and patient especially with us deciding on what we wanted. Always coming to our table to check on us. Kona Grill is one of my favorites, and I finally got to try the sushi and it was great! The potstickers are awesome!
We had family in town and thought this would be a great place to sit down for drinks and food after an evening of shopping. Worst choice ever! We were unbelievably disappointed with our experience. The service was beyond terrible. Our waitress took our drink order & boxed up our food to go..that's all she did for us. We had to call the manager over to take our order and he was the one who brought our food out. Other than that we were never checked on, our drinks were never refilled, and we had to ask for the check more than once and then it took a crazy long time to get it even more time for them to bring my card back. By far the worst service I've ever experienced at any restaurant. We won't ever be back and absolutely won't recommend it to anyone.
Celebrated my daughters bday there with a large group. We had 2 servers but drink orders were taken out of order, meaning late arrivals got drinks before ones that had been there. Then at the end knowing it was for a bday the waiter said - anyone need anything or can I bring your checks...kinda rude not to even ask if we wanted a bday dessert. Either way it worked as I needed a place in the domain that could take our large party and the food was good.
This was our second time visiting Kona. First time was wonderful, this time it was mediocre. Our server was friendly and inviting, he could use some more menu training but overall very pleasant. Unfortunately the food mediocre at best. My order was wrong...appetizer, entree, and cocktail. Our server did his best to correct the issue so my biggest issue was with management. He was not supportive of our server and was condescending towards him and that bothered me.
This restaurant has an outstanding happy and incredible sushi so I will be returning for that! Definitely worth a try.
There was a strange odor that hit us when we walked into the restaurant, like sour dishrags or sushi sauce gone weird. The atmosphere was very dark, especially for a Sunday lunch. The food was good and the waiter was excellent, but the ambience left something to be desired.
