Kona Grill - Alpharetta
Service was horrible. Waiter talked our birthday girl out of a Poke bowl saying it would take 45 minutes. It still took over 45 minutes for 2 filets, pasta & jambalaya. Of course we saw our food sitting and waiting under the food likghts for a good 15 minutes before our waiter showed up to get it. I finally had to ask someone else to get our check and pay. Our waiter did show back up to tell us how to look at the bottom of the check to calculate his tip.
Had a great dinner and always feel this a good spot for a good bite!
Horrible service and waiting over 75 min for basic sushi and hot tea
Server even forgot the basic salad we ordered
Restaurant was very busy and seemed understaffed for the large crowd. Servers were trying but it took a long time to get things
We enjoyed a great meal with exceptional service after seeing a movie.
Great food and cocktails. Service lacking because of large tables/parties. Smaller tables not serviced appropriately
Decent for the price not high end laid back for a quick meal
There was a confusion. We had a reservation. The restaurant had many empty tables. The hostess asked if we wanted the specials. Of course we said yes. Apparently there was different seating for the regular menu and the specials. It didn't make sense and it was confusing.
Birthday celebration and for the first time a restaurant did not provide a complimentary dessert for my guest celebrating her birthday.
Waiter forgot two different drink orders. Ended up canceling them.
We typically love Kona grill but they were way off of their game this time. We sat down and waited ten minutes before anyone came to our table. The red snapper was dry. Asked for extra sauce but the waiter never brought it. The rice was in a big clump and the green beans was over cooked. The bill was reduced for the issues.
If you are looking for poor service, slow service, accompanied by poor management then this is the place for you. I am amazed at how many empty tables there were. And still the overall experience was horrible.
Stay away from this poorly run chain restaurant.
Impatient waitress, infrequent check in with us
Horrible service ... very nice but inexperienced waitress ... took over an hour to get a bowl of soup
The service was terrible. Our waitress seemed to have forgotten to submit our order. 45 minutes later we were told every five minutes (20 minutes total) that our sushi was coming. My sandwich sat under the heater for so long it wasn’t even warm when finally brought to me.
The manager came over and didn’t even apologize for the wait or offer giving a discount. Just repeated our food was coming.
Everything was really good. Enjoyed the evenings.
Had to ask where our drink order was after 15 minutes. Our server was so soft spoken we had to continually ask her to speak up. No toilet paper in the women’s restroom, but there were 5 empty rolls laying there. Walked by the kitchen on the way out and trash was piled up within view and all over the floor. Saw at least 4 workers step over a napkin laying in the middle of the floor and not pick it up.
Wife ordered grilled chicken skewers that were burnt. I ordered sea bass entree (most expensive fish on the menu), the fish looked processed and tasted like imitation crab meat. It was not a fillet but was stringy like imitation crab. You could actually see 4 distinct lines in the fish where it had been pressed together. Didn’t bother asking to speak to a manager as it was evident from the experience that if there was a manager present they were not properly trained from the way the place was being run. Best option if you are thinking about this place is to go somewhere else. Which is what we shared with someone as they were on their way in contemplating whether to wait 45 minutes for a table at 9:30 pm.
I met up with a coworker for dinner. I arrived during happy hour and was advised by the hostess that there was an hour wait for a table. I went on Open Table and reserved a table and was seated within 5 minutes of arriving. This was less than 10 minutes after I was told that there was an hour wait. Either the hostess do not know what is available for seating or they just didn't want to give me a seat.
The food was great. I have been to Kona Grill in other locations and this location was the same as others.
Service was awful
Food was cold, very small portions . I order the same meal every time i visit your restaurant and they could not get it right yesterday
Food is pretty good but both times we’ve been here, we’ve had below average service. Not sure we’ll go back as this really impacts the experience.
Sushi was mediocre at best. Hostess indifferent to our request for outdoor seating. Service from waiter was 'weird' and the prices high. I've been to Kona several times before and had good experiences, but this time was a downer. Service is poor and food, meh. Too many other fantastic options in Avalon and Alpharetta to pay for this experience again!
We came at 6:30 which is the beginning of their Happy Hour. Our 1 st round of drinks took 30 min. There when I asked the Manager about our serve had an attitude. One of my party spilled some sauce on the table and we asked for some help cleaning it up. She threw a bunch of cocktail napkins down on the table and walked away. The second server we got was much better but it took 40 minutes to get our sushi and then another 45 for our dinner.
Great food but service was little slow.
The food we had was excellent however there were several menu items not available and the sushi was running on a 30 minute wait. Otherwise everything was great.
We left a cell phone on the table. Upon arriving home we realized and called the restaurant. We returned there to find Raven, our waitress, had held onto it. She’s the best!
We arrived on Tuesday evening at 7:00 there was no wait and a lot of available tables. We waited 45 minutes for our drinks from the bar and over an hour for sushi. The server was apologizing but couldn’t get anything done. The manager walked by our table at least 5 times and totally ignored us. Finally my husband confronted the manager and he made all kind of excuses. We finally received our food and check. I had to insist the manager considering making an adjustment since we waited so long. Also they were not busy.
We have avoided Kona because it takes so long to get our food, another disappointment.
This is our first time family dinner there. The total experience is good. The waiter is polite, the location is good, and the food is fresh. There are a few blemishes for improvement. The table feels oiling, the wine glass is not crystal clean, the appetizers sent after the main entry. We will go to try more times.
The hostess’s wasn’t the most pleasant, our mai tai’s were watered down, missing cherries 🍒 & flavor. The waitress & food was Great. We drove about an hour since moving from the area & looked forward to this visit, unfortunately it didn’t not measure up to previous visits.
WILL NOT GO BACK. The place has gone downhill. We had to flag down a server 10 minutes after being seated because no one acknowledged us. They "no longer sold" the Herbalist drink on the bar menu. WTHeck? How do you stop serving a gin drink? The 2 glasses of Chardonnay in dirty glasses were plopped down on the table by an unhappy server who didn't acknowledge which one was Russian River and which was the house brand. Our main server didn't know if the sea bass was Chilean or Mediterranean. Took awhile to get an answer. The Calamari was way overcooked. We sent it back. 1 1/2 hrs after being seated we still had no dinner. The Manager said it had only been 38 minutes since the server had opened the ticket, but what took him so long to submit it? By then, parties were leaving and there were several vacant tables, so the "busy" excuse wasn't really acceptable. The chicken on the salad was overcooked and dry. The sushi for which I had waited forever was good (although I never got my chopsticks) and one of my friend's poke bowl was good. However, two of my friends had never been there before and it was embarrassing that they had such a horrible experience. They were ready to get up and go to a fast food restaurant on the way home instead. Although the Manager comped us a nice butter cake with vanilla ice cream for dessert, it hardly made up for the bad experience. And to top it off, the bill still had the calamari on it and we had to request it be taken off! Additionally, there was no toilet paper in the women's restroom. Sorry, Kona Grill, you lost 4 customers on Thursday.
With KONA in the name I expected a Polynesian influence. The ribs were fatty, tough and not Asian in style at all. I sent them back. Too much emphasis on fried food. Very disappointing chain restaurant.
Waiter saved this for us. Bar and kitchen super slow and good just ok. Waiter was great
Food is disgusting. Nothing was fresh. Calamari was the absolute worst thing I’ve ever put in my mouth. Don’t waste your money or time there.
Service on our last visit the evening of Tuesday 7/2 was not up to par. Guessing the sever may have been "summer help'", thus not invested at all. Maybe... Usually service is good. Food Great! Priced Right!
We've eaten lunch and dinners at Kona. Lunch noise level is fine. Dinner, not so much. Too loud
With making a reservation they were trying to see this outside. It was very hot outside. Had to have our table changed multiple times because the second table they put us in was outside as well. Thought that with a reservation we should get a table inside. Ordered sushi which took about 25 minutes to get from when order was placed. Ordered a chicken skewer dish which had coleslaw and in the description it did not say there was cheese in the coleslaw and I’m lactose intolerant. Don’t plan on going there again. Very disappointed.
1 hot food served on cold plates, all just warm,
2 bathrooms dirty
3 service rated “F”
4 management invisible
This is not typical for this place, must just be a bad day!
It was my son’s 21st birthday. Service was extremely slow. Our drinks took a long time. The entrees were sitting on the counter for around 30 mins before our server brought them to us and were cold as a result. The restaurant did throw in a couple of desserts on the house but slow service spoilt a great occasion.
After reading reviews, we weren’t expecting much from service but after sitting down could see why large tables and sometimes small could feel looked over. They have 2 separate kitchens; one for sushi and one for other food. We enjoyed our meal and the ambience was great inside! Our waitress was a help with the menu and the sushi and made the evening enjoyable. The poke bowl was slightly smaller than expected and the sushi seems to always be backed up. Also would prefer if the happy hour applied to the restaurant as well, not just the bar and lounge.
We always have a great time at Kona Grill! Lexie and Morgan at the bar give each guest outstanding service! They made our night extra special!!!! Thank you!
