Party of 8 last night. One entree did not arrive until everyone else had eaten. No attempt (even after suggesting) to mollify the forgotten diner with a drink. Water glass only filled after handing to waitress, even as she was acknowledging missing dinner. A manager only came by after requesting.
Food overall not bad, service and awareness of staff abysmal.
Woman’s bathroom stalls had “no squares to spare “
No responsible adult appeared to be present in the establishment.
Went with some friends on a Monday night at 6:30. Server has to be very new and knew very little. It had rained that day and the flooring ( tile to look like wood) was VERY slippery. One person ordered Macademia Nut Chicken, which she said there were out of. Really out of Chicken?
Anyway the Miso Sea Bass and Stir fry rice was great, pot stickers and calmari was excellent, sushi was good. Overall good food, mediocre to poor service
Lately Kona has just been struggling. We keep going back hoping it gets better but there seem to be issues about 2 out of 3 times.
Today’s issues -
1 - I ordered the burger and the fries were sparse and cold which meant it wasn’t timed well with the other entrees or the server took too long to get it to bring it out
2 - my wife ordered the chicken pad Thai - it came out shrimp & chicken so she had to wait 10 minutes for a new entree.
No service offering to compensate for the mix ups, and we aren’t the types that want any freebies, but not to offer when you have 2 issues just seems like poor management or improper training
My pork chops were very dry but my boyfriend’s steak was amazing

Great food but bad service. Took us 2 hours to get our meal. They also gave our reservation to someone else (after we checked in). We went on a Friday night and it was crowded. Not sure when we will go again :(.
Did not meet our reservation time. Overdue by 40 minutes. They ran out of a side option and didn’t tell us until they brought something else with my meal. No lemon was ever brought for my water and my dessert was pineapple and not coconut as indicated on the menu
Reservation was for 6. Sat us at 6:45. Hostess was rude while inquiring about open seats. Had to check multiple times if table was ready. Hostess didn’t seem to care or check on us while we waiting. Acted as if we were inconveniencing her when asking if table was ready. Customer service was overall poor
I am sorry for the time it took for you and your party to get sat. Reservations on the weekend can get pushed back due to parties staying longer than expected. I was expecting the specialty rolls to be maybe half of a meal so that I could get 2, but the Coconut shrimp roll had 5 pieces and they were comparatively small. The Pad Thai was a little underwhelming, but our birthday buttercake was delicious, and our server was amazing!! Would literally only come back for them.

The wait staff turnover is incredibly bad,
We went there for the happy hour and they no longer have it on the weekends !
They were out of the barbecue chicken flatbread !
I have been going there since it opened years ago and it is never the same experience twice and that is not a good thing for a restaurant !

Slowest service ever. We had a reservation and still had to wait 30 mins. Also they lost our food ticket so the food took about 40 mins. The check took about another 20.
I apologize for the poor experience you had. We always try our best to make sure everyone leaves with a great experience. On certain days, the reservations can get pushed back due to the time it takes for tables to finish dining. We will do our best to make your future experiences great. Food is always great at Kona. Great vibe and fun people watching at Avalon. Only downside is we wait so long to order, drinks to come, food to come....it took forever. This isnt new..always slow. we keep coming back because we love the sushi and location. Hire more staff??

Very slow service but food was appropriate temperature when served and tasted great.

This is our 3rd time and not as great as the last two times. We had to find our server to place our order and I had the French Dip which the roll didn't seem fresh, not as good as last time.

We've eaten at Kona several times, the last few times we've had service issues. This one takes the cake. Called to confirm my OpenTable reservation for 4 people and requested patio seating. The person said he'd note it. Arrived at 7, our designated time, and was told nothing was noted on our reservation about patio. We were seated inside at 7:02. Fine. The waiter, who was very nice but very poorly trained, took our orders at about 7:20. At 7:45 he came by and said our chilean sea bass was ready but they were waiting on the rest of the food. I asked him if they were keeping the sea bass warm -really as a way to let him know if the sea bass is ready it will not be warm later and they will need to remake it. Two of us ordered the sea bass. He said they were keeping it warm. I wasn't convinced. I asked to speak to the manager. Two of us ordered salads...those were not brought out until later with the food, despite having asked the waiter where they were. They bring some sliders to the table and we let them know we did not order any sliders. They look confused, but take them away. The manager comes over, apologizes for the mix up and the wait and gives us four $10 off coupons. We wait another 10-15 minutes. Then they bring the other two entrees with their salads. Still we have no chilean sea bass. Come to find out, the waiter put in an order for the appetizer of sea bass sliders instead of the meals we had ordered. Now the manager comes to apologize again because we've been waiting an hour for our food. We considered leaving but I had promised my friend a sea bass dinner so we stayed. We finally get our meals and by this time our husbands have finished their meals. Without question, all of our meals should have been comped; the manager should have offered that instead of $10 coupons. We used our coupons and they took the sea bass off the checks but the checks were still messed up -twice! Bye Bye Kona
I have eaten here may times and this is the first time they were out of two entrees I selected. Very disappointing, but I will go back.

This is the last time I will dine at Kona Grill. Our appetizer took long to arrive, but was delicious. The entrees took over an hour to arrive. Management nor the waitress tried to offer anything during the wait other than to say they were backlogged. After we complained, magically the food appeared that at best was room temperature. Do not bother saying you will address this with your staff. Based on recent reviews, either the staff or management have no interest to fix the problem or a clue how to run a restaurant. Truly disappointed.

Ordered appetizers that didn’t arrive for 45 minutes, server did not take drink or refill drinks regularly. Dinners didn’t come out until we had been there for over an hour and a half. And when it did come out, it wasn’t hot. Rice was cold, and the only thing that was warm was the protein and what was touching the protein. Manager came over and we let her know the issue. Nothing comped, and it didn’t seem to hurry things along either. NEVER going back. There are better places to eat in Atlanta.

We went to KG on 4/13 for our anniversary dinner. I had made a special request for either a flower or card on the table through the reservation, but that didn't materialize. So I had some issues with the service overall and generally I'm not tough on reviews. I asked our server about changing the channel on the outside TV (right in front of us) as we got the pleasure of enjoying a legal ad about talcum powder all evening while waiting for our food (about an hour). Really? Nothing happened about either when I asked about changing it or the table decoration not even an explanation. Probably busy but still Not appreciated.
The service side could have been better. The food was good but I would not recommend ordering beef. Had a ribeye with sushi, and the sushi was very good. Due to the occassion I hoped for more. I think to be fair most restaurants are struggling with staffing right now and probably will be until September 2021 thanks to some in Congress.
It was nice to sit outside but was not a romantic place. About all I can say.

The salads came out significantly after the hot food so half the people were done before half of us started eating. I asked for dressing on side but it was tossed in the salad. Salad was supposed to be chopped but it wasn’t. The bacon was a big blob of fat and not really cooked. The server disappeared for long periods of time. She never came by and offered to refill our coffee. I won’t be back.

Good selection of entrees and food is great!
One of our concerns was that one of the servers had long hair and it was not pulled back and her hair touched the utensils as she was wrapping them up in napkins.

Waitress was not attentive to table and there was a wait time of nearly 7-8 minutes of her just chatting it up with another table. Ordered an appetizer as well as it arrived when the main courses arrived which was not acceptable and I even said something about it. I wanted to send the appetizer back, but also wanted my family to have a good time. I was very disappointed in the overall experience.

Didn't realize they pump up the music level after 6pm on Friday. Got a little loud to be carrying on a conversation but we are somewhat regulars just never noticed the music to be that loud. We asked server about it and he said yes they turn it up after 6pm on Fridays or maybe weekends?

Met a friend for dinner. My husband and I have always been fans of Kona Grill. This is the first time we were disappointed across-the-board. The table was tacky/sticky… It was super disgusting. We ordered an appetizer of calamari… It tasted like fried flour with minimal calamari meat. We ordered sliders and potstickers to share. The sliders were well done when we asked for medium rare, and the potstickers were burnt. They turned the potstickers over so we wouldn’t see the burnt side. I ordered a cosmopolitan to start off with, that was delicious! I ordered wine to have with dinner, and I got a dirty glass. I honestly don’t think we will go back. Now I know why they were offering 1000 points to dine in there.... it was terrible. So disappointed. 🙁
Anonymous, I am sincerely very sorry about your visit. The extra sanitizing with peroxide chemicals has eaten away at the table varnish, leaving it tacky. We are looking into getting the tables re-varnished in the future. I will work on more solid menu training with the staff, because our sliders are always served medium well to well done - never below that. (1/2)
