Kona Grill - Alpharetta
I gave specific instructions that this was a birthday dinner and there was no mention about it.
I asked that they bring out a bday dessert and that was also ignored
Thank you for leaving this review. I am sorry nobody gave you the dessert. I will follow up immediately. Thank you for choosing Kona and I hope to see you back again soon!
We had a late lunch. Food was good, service was good. They have happy hours for drinks and food and the price is cheap but quality is good.
Good but 2 items weren’t hot. Very lukewarm
There was a bit of a kerfuffle when we arrived; between the three hostesses trying to handle the front desk, it was somehow forgotten that we had a reservation. They told me it would be a 45 minute wait for an inside table. We tried an outdoor table- it was freezing and raining and there were smokers right next to us. No thank you! I told them we’d have to get an inside table and pointed out a couple of options... she said those were reserved- I told her I had a reservation! After that we were seated and the service and food were great. I would go back.
I am sorry about all of the confusion in the beginning. I am glad that everything ended up well in the end. We hope to see you back again soon!
Bad service and food is mediocre at best. Nice ambiance but that’s really all. Did I mention service is just bad-
Celebrating a birthday but the waitress did not acknowledge it
I am sorry they did not acknowledge this birthday. I will have more training on this to ensure it does not happen again.
Caytie was amazing! So personable, friendly, attentive. Impeccable service. She made my sister’s birthday very special. Will definitely be back!
Great food combined with friendly service and an inviting and comfortable atmosphere.
Everything except seating on arriving at the restaurant was horrible. We were served water in a cracked glass and the plates were not clean. When we asked the server to replace the glass and plates, he said okay and replaced it, never apologized for it. The food was horrible and I was served one fried shrimp (possibly from someone else’s order) along with sweet potato fries (which came with the entree). I asked for a manager and explained all the issues. He apologized and said he can get me a new order of fries ??!! and he would take care of it. What a joke !
Never going back here !!
This was my first visit - food was delicious and our server was great!
We are regulars at Kona Grill; however, this time we checked in exactly on time, were seated, and then cancelled, by the restaurant. They have done this several times. For some reason the front desk can't seem to get this straight. It is frustrating when that happens. The rest of the experience, as usual, was fine.
Amber was great; really took good care of us and let us pace the meal.
Reservation for 6 people, arrived early and they sat us at a table that was sized for four. Service was slow and they only cleared the appetizer dishes on an already crowded table after entrees were being delivered and we asked. It was pretty obvious there wasn't much room. Food was mediocre. Competition in Avalon is stiff, this one can't possibly make it much longer without a big change in the basics.
Very slow staff, food was ok.
I was out walking my dog, and feeling a little down. We passed Kona Grill, so I decided to sit at the outside bar and order dinner vs. going later in the evening at 11:30pm which is what reservation was for. I ordered the ribs, and requested that the cole slaw be replaced with fried rice (no pork). The ribs took forever to be served (at least 40 minutes). When the food FINALLY arrived, everything was cold (i.e. the ribs, the fried onions, the rice). It was dark outside (at the bar), so I couldn't really see what the food looked like, at the time. The manager came over, and I asked could he replace the rice, and ensure that it's not microwaved. I didn't want to wait another 40 minutes for the ribs.. and who knows they may have been served cold too. The rice took at least 10 minutes, and had old eggs in it, so it was microwaved.. I'm pretty sure of it. Plus the rice was mushy.. What a waste of money, and my time. I just told the waiter to give me a to-go box, and I'll just go heat the food up at home (negates the reason I was dining out). When I got home, and could see the food clearly, it turns out that the ribs still had pink in them, so they were not cooked thoroughly. I almost passed out.. I don't eat raw pork... I had eaten two of the cold ribs while at the Kona Grill restaurant bar. I couldn't eat the ribs, and ended up throwing them away after seeing the pink / raw part.. this is ridiculous. I'm not sure if I'll go back... I've been a few times, and Kona Grill Avalon NEVER gets it 100% right..
We had a reservation for 4 for New Year's Eve. We went into this knowing that service may be a bit slow due to the holiday. First, despite having a reservation, we were sat at a bar top table that wasn't large enough for 4 menus and our waters. It was that much worse when we ordered our cocktails and food! We were told that the food from the kitchen and the food from the sushi bar may come out at different times. That was fine. Except, I got my (hot) food. Then 15 minutes later, my friend got his sushi. Then, another 15 min later, the rest of my party got their (hot) food. That's too extreme a difference, in my opinion. Our server was very nice but not efficient at all. Half of the time we couldn't find her. Maybe I'd go back on a slow day, but never again on a busy night.
The waiter was amazing, the food was delicious and service was great and very efficient I definitely recommend it! DJ was very good too!
Every hot food item we got was lukewarm and not hot at all. The taste was good but eating cold food that is supposed to be hot is not fun especially as it was a special occasion - 18th birthday. Our server was odd, not very attentive and was heavy handed when delivering drinks and food. Even though she knew it was an 18th birthday she didn’t do anything special.
The food and drinks took ages to come - water came reasonably quickly but we waited at least 25 mins for our other drinks.
Had to ask for server from hostess twice. Food took too long. Soup came out with meal instead of before. Server never apologized. Never heard from manager or hostess about why it took so long.
Bad management for at least a year!! Always empty seats with people waiting outside. I had a reservation and was seated promptly. However the waiter was slow and forgetful. I ordered a margarita and got some weird one with Chambord in it. They were out of everything we liked, Potstickers, Kona Beer and Miso Sea bass!!! How can you be out of your signature dish?! Manager comped us a meal but still it wasn't what we came for. We substituted with snapper which was ok nothing special. Just a bad overall experience this time. Hope they get it together. It used to be good.
They were closed
Good food great location
I know it was the day after Christmas, but the kitchen was unforgivingly slow. 35 minutes from order to table.....for sushi.
The restauarant was not full. Other tables were waiting on their food. Management should have planned better.
Will return for another meal to see experience gets enhanced.
Sat outside. Place had good vib but perhaps the worst service I’ve seen in years. Really took away from the evening
We were a party of 5 Christmas night with a 7:30 reservation. The restaurant was not full. We waited over an hour for our food. The Miso soup was barely warm and had to be sent back. When the sushi was finally delivered, it wasn’t served with ginger or wasabi, we waited another 20 minutes for wasabi and ginger. We ordered the dessert special which was macadamia nut pie that was described as served warm with ice cream. The server told us it would be a while because they had to go to another cooler to find the pie. The pie was brought cold without icecream and appeared to have been formed from two different pies that were broken. We were told the dessert would be comped and after waiting another 20 minutes for our check we didn’t ask for it to be corrected so we could get home. We were there from just after 7pm to almost 10pm with most of that time not having food.
great location and atmosphere... good food. We always enjoy
We were seated quickly on Christmas Day for dinner. The service was very good and the food even better. Save room for dessert. The butter cake and triple chocolate desserts were amazing.
Great flatbread appetizer and very good seafood entrees with great flavor and good portion.
Food delivered hot and service was very good.
It was Christmas so not a lot open but Kona was. Our waitress Abby was new and very sweet but kitchen was super slow. Took 15 min to get my glass of wine and when I looked at the glass there was a lemon wedge floating in it. Ewwww! So took 10 more min at least to get my new wine. Sushi was fine although my daughter hated her spicy tuna roll and said it was mushy and slimy. It was taken off the bill. Miso soup was lukewarm. Poke bowl was good and my sushi roll was pretty good too. I think Kona is better for happy hour. I’ve never had a truly great meal there.
Extremely slow service. 40 minute wait for soup. The rest of the meal was served at room temperature. No apology given.
Made reservations well in advance for Christmas Day dinner. However, it seems that there was a considerable amount of walk in traffic due to the limited number of restaurants open that day. Plus the restaurant was under staffed for the volume.
Our waiter had other tables all over the restaurant and took a while to ever acknowledge we were there. Once we ordered it took a long time to get our appetizer and two meals came out 10 minutes before the others.
The food was very good, so no complaints there. It did take a long time to get refills as well.
We were very patient given it was Christmas but we will not return to Kona Grill for a special occasion again.
Not the best hostess. Couldn’t remember who we were even after 3 interactions she still went to seat someone else under our reservation. Christmas Day so I understand slower than usual service but the restaurant was only 1/2 full and still waited an hour for food. Positives.. food was great , we all enjoyed our meals, the waiter was very nice and attentive and overall atmosphere was very nice.
Our waitress did not even mention the filet special for children and allowed us to order a full adult meal for her, literally never filled our bev glasses, and was rather disengaged.
Super salty filet. Both were too salty. So they need to hold back salt.
I had reservations for 5 and they squeezed us into a table for 4. It took over an hour to get our food and then the mashed potatoes were cold. I ordered the expensive sea bass in miso sake sauce and it was served with no sauce, just salt and pepper. I told my waitress who claimed it was marinated but that just isn't possible. Very bland. Won't go back.
The food was very slow coming out, but it was Christmas Eve and all of the wait staff was working very hard, so I can understand. The food was awesome. Our server was extremely nice and apologized for the wait.
Crazy busy Christmas eve and they were definitely challenged, but Amber our server made the difference and made sure we knew the kitchen was backed up. She was great, food was great.
Went for Xmas eve for just casual dinner. Restaurant was understaffed, but they were apologetic but it took us a while to even get a sever. After that was established - she took good care of us. Food was good, but sake was way overpriced and I drink sake at lots of places. Was shocked. Best deal was the flight. I would like to return and dine when they have plenty of staff.
Service was not as good as usual. Somewhat disappointed.
The service wasn’t all that, my friend and I ordered 3 sushi rolls and we waited a very long time just to get them. There weren’t many people to begin with so I’m not sure why it would take so long. Also, there wasn’t any value in the sushi roll. Expensive for the amount and quality
