Great food, great service. The prices are much better for happy hour, but we had no issue paying regular price either. Everything came out great and the desserts are HUGE.
Great regular spot. And Alexis is great too. She makes it the regular spot it is.
service was awful.. took 1+ hour to get our food after we placed our order.
Good island style food and extensive sushi-sashimi-tempura offering. Energetic atmosphere amid the Avalon shopping experience.
We have been going to Kona Grill for months on Wednesday for happy hour. In the last few weeks they have made several changes that I don't think were for the better, such as changing the happy hour to end at six instead of seven. This recent time it felt so busy and not at all relaxing. I will give it a few more tries, but I may have to relocate to a different Wednesday night place.
Stuart was our server on the patio - dinner was great, super cool vibe at this location with the live, work, and play
Great food and great atmosphere. Had a great time. Server was excellent.
Great dinner, service was excellent. We dined here for sushi and tried a few different dishes. This restaurant has few options for traditional sushi. We ordered the nauruato which was a low carb option. This dish was great.
We enjoyed mid-afternoon happy hour on the patio before a movie. Perfect!
Food was cold, sat on the kitchen counter waiting for the salmon to be done. Poor planning. Noise level too high. Can’t have a conversation
Great food, sake and atmosphere
Service was slow. 3 requests for some additional lettuce for the wraps but none ever delivered. As soon as the server left the table they seemed to forget the request. Minor issue but annoying. The remainder of the food was good but nothing that set it apart from any typical Asian style restaurant. Would I go back - doubtful.
The food is too expensive for what you get. My steak came out unclean. There was a huge piece of silver skin still attached to the steak. The fish was extremely oily and not light and flaky as it should be. The server never asked how out dinner was, in fact she did not seem interested in taking care of us at all.
We will not be back.
Sweet Chili Salmon is the best!
The food and drinks were so good!
Service was a little slow, due to trainer.
This is a regular place for us, and we like it. We generally go for happy hour; however, on the last visit we learned they had shortened happy hour by an hour, making it harder to get there in time to enjoy it. This is disappointing. Happy hour should not be stressful. :(
Kona Grill is excellent every time! We have been there approximately five times and it never disappoints. Book it through open table and beat the wait.
This was a disappointing experience. The wait staff cannot shoulder all the blame - management does - for the poor service. We had 7 pm reservations, and our water glasses were not presented until 7:20. Our drinks were not delivered until 7:35. That's 35 minutes of sitting at a table nursing a glass of water! When the waiter took our food order at 7:40, we were told that sushi would take 40 minutes to prepare. Why weren't we informed of that fact the moment we sat down?? The noise was deafening, especially since we were seated in front of the kitchen. Between the long wait for service and the constant clatter, the dining experience was a frazzling one. The food was ok but expensive. I expected more - this was a very overrated restaurant.
Seared tuna was not as good as before. It was my favorite dish for long time.
Horrible service. The food here is never amazing, but it was simply not good this time. Our fondue appetizer was cold. Our food took a while, and we didn’t get everything we ordered. Because the server wouldn’t come out to the tables very often, we ate most of our meal before he showed up to fix the problem. We waited for over 20 minutes for our check. He was clearly distracted by side work or something else going on in the back of the restaurant because his tables were the least of his concerns. I was with a friend and we both waited tables for several years in college. It is hard to make 2 former servers completely lose their patience, but he succeeded. I won’t be going back.
The jambalaya is too spicy. Had to send it back after two bites.
On our Saturday date, even with reservations, it took 10 minutes to get seated because hostess "got sidetracked" and seated guests that came in after us before us. Hostess put us at table that had used napkin in seat and food/liquid in one seat side of booth. My husband had to go back to hostess and ask it to be cleaned. We were never given napkins or silverware and had to ask server to bring us some which took her 5 minutes.
Our server Alexis was so personable and helpful. Her description of the various dishes we asked about were very thorough.
I ordered the pecan crusted pork! The pork and fried onions on top of the meat were very spicy. Since I do not like spicy food, I asked the waitress if this dish was spicy. She insisted that the pork wasn't at all spicy. I was very disappointed with the pork entree.
The evening started off with sub par service. We were served terrible bar drinks, so bad we had to send them back. Our appetizers came out after the entrees. Then we had a hair in our food. Never did a manager appear to apologize. Our server said she would take the entree off the bill and replace it. A side salad we ordered came out with out dressing. Again more drinks came out wrong.
The bill came out and the hair entree was still on the bill and we had to ask for it to be removed. Again no manager came to even check on the evening. Nor did we notice one in the dining area all evening.
The server seemed annoyed and avoided our table.
To say this experience was unacceptable is an understatement! We will never return and will spread the word everywhere at how this restaurant lacks any attention to the customer. Clearly you all take no pride in making a dining experience a pleasure and your staff take no initiative to involve management when there is any problem at the table. There are so many other great restaurants to choose from at the Avalon my entire table will make those choices in the future. We will not spend our hard earned money where the service does not care about those spending money at their establishment.
The food was good, however I had booked via open table and had to go remind the hostess that we were waiting for our table. They seemed a little behind and frenzied.
Worst experience I have had in any retail situation in a very long time. Have been here many times but this will be the last. Waitress was terrible. The line manager came to our table just to tell us we didn’t know anything about the preparation of food. We had not even complained. We had just chosen not to eat something we thought was under cooked. We didn’t ask for him to come over but he came over just to tell us how ignorant we were and didn’t want to leave until we agreed with him. Area manager was in house and heard about situation and came over to make amends. Unfortunately, it was too little too late. It was all very strange. Too many other great places at Avalon to go without getting grief from the staff.
The food here is way overpriced and overrated. I had the flank steak with chimichurri sauce. Kona’s “chimichurri” was chopped tomatoes and parsley sprinkled on top..that’s it. Chimichurri has much more in it than that, so that was a let down. We had the fondue for 10$+, it was very gunky and salty. My fiancé had sushi, I tried a bite and it was not good, grocery store sushi is better. Save time and money and don’t bother with this restaurant, so many better options at the Avalon.
For a business lunch, our food took approximately 35 minutes after we ordered. The food was ok, not great. I’m not sure I would come here again.
Acoustic is BAD.... it gets very noisy at night.... you practically have to yell to have a table conversation.
Lunch is quieter than dinner....some areas of restaurant are quieter than others. The center is the worst! Stick to the perimeter or sit outside if weather permits.
Rai was terrific! She made up for the crazy noise.
The food and service is always on point! So much to choose from!
First time for us. We found this to have a pleasant and comfortable atmosphere, complimented by good food and great service.
Food was excellent! A little loud for our taste but will definitely go back because of the food and value!
Food was much better then last time we ate there, the sushi was really fresh and very flavorful, the service was not as good as it could be, the waitress did not follow up on if we needed any more to eat, and she had zero recommendations on sushi
Food was excellent! Had the salmon & fried rice with miso soup & edamame. Salmon was cooked perfectly medium, soft & moist, pink in the middle. The brownie dessert was yummy too!
Service was good. The server was very attentive, often coming by to see if we needed anything.
The noise level was minimal. One can easily carry a conversation & be heard.
We will return & recommend Kona Grill to others.
Alexis is great. Food is good. Atmosphere is pleasant.
Our first visit to Kona’s but it won’t be our last. The food was outstanding as was the service. We thoroughly enjoyed and will highly recommend Kona to our friends and family.
