It was my girlfriend’s birthday and we loved the Hibachi server, his comedy and singing was amazing!
Great service, food and atmosphere . Menu has a wide variety to choose from.
Always love Hibachi! Good food, great chefs, really fun
Susan was our server and she was excellent!!!
Went for a birthday,, was terrific. Food delishous, kids enjoyed the show even gave the both a balloon.
We have been to this restaurant many times loving it but this was the first time that everything except the waitress was wrong. The young man doing the cooking at the grill said he was out the nite before celebrating New Years and continually messed up everything. The fire burst was next to our edge of the grill which has never happened. Very very hot! The rice and veggies totally undercooked and still crunchy. The shrimp and chicken were very over cooked. He did everything so quick and seemed to not care. No personality at all! Hopefully there won't ever be a 2nd time like this!
Always a great meal!
Food and service was fine. Restaurant was freezing cold
We love coming here. We have come here for the past 3 years for Xmas. It is always very fun.
Went for Hibachi in Christmas Day. Exactly what we expected.
Excellent all around. Somewhat out of the way location. Well worth the effort.
We usually get habachi but we sat at a table this time and ordered habachi food. The food tasted totally different.. the veggies were so soggy you couldn’t eat them, the rice had no flavor and chicken was very dry... probably will stick with only habachi next time.
I’ve been to Kon several times. I’ve tried many dishes and even experienced hibachi. Everything was really great.
We always have a great time at Hibachi!! We’ll be back for more!
Went for a dinner date with my husband. We agreed the food was delicious, price was decent, service was pretty good, and the atmosphere was perfect for creating an inviting and intimate date night experience. There is a Hibachi section which we intend to try out on our next visit.
Great variety on the menu, everything is good and it's a fun atmosphere!
We always have a wonderful time at Kon and tonight was no exception. The chef was funny and entertaining. The food was delicious and the wait staff was attentive. We have been going to Kon for birthdays since my kids were little and we will continue going until the kids have grown and moved away. Consistently wonderful!
It was perfect.
Chef was a blast...server was very dry & didn't seem to be happy to be there! She was blaaa!!! Thank god the cook changed the atmosphere, hope he gets a chunk of the tip!!!!
DELICIOUS! I am an avid hibachi eater and this place is great! Awesome Saki and amazing food, highly recommend.
Going here again for lunch before we leave!
Food was very good
It was quiet because it was 2pm
Would def go again.
Had a great time. Chef was really entertaining. Was very good with kids. Fried rice is amazing as always. The birthday celebration for my wife was unique. I did not buy a drink this visit. From past visits I know drinks are very strong which makes them a good value if getting drunk is the goal. I had to drive so I did not risk it.
Great food and lovely staff, had a good time at the Hibachi bar and would recommend to a friend.
Very wonderful and attentive staff and had a wonderful time!
Food was over cooked. When we mentioned it to the waitress she just said, oh it happens. I was in shock. This is the second time in a row I have been disappointed here. The prices are way too high for the quality of food and service. I'm not sure we will visit again.
Our waitress was exceptionally friendly and attentive and our food was delicious as always. My only complaints, or things they could improve, would be that the drinks were really strong and the chef seemed like he wanted to be somewhere else, like he was just going through the motions.
We had a large group for a retirement party. We were not allowed to sit until everyone was there. With 16 people coming after work, it’s not easy getting everyone there at the same time. If they had seated us, they could have sold us drinks while we waited for the few who showed up late, and maybe made a bit more money. We ate at the hibachi tables, which was great fun. The food was good, but very salty. Overall, it’s a good place to bring a group for a fun time.
It was Ladies Night! A large group of friends got together for a fun filled dinner prior to a night of dancing to the 80s music. Kon accommodated our large group woman with 2 hibachi cooks and great drinks. They made our dinner transaction easy, offering 7 options for a set price including tip for ease of payment. We appreciated that so much and want to thank them for great service, food, and atmosphere. We all had a lot of fun and one friend lots of Saki... there is always one in the group! :)
We had a great time, our young chef was amazing, we did feel very rushed, the food almost came out before our food, seemed they wanted us in and out. Hostess, was very snoby.
My wife and I come here all the time and the food is very consistent, however the actual Hibachi show is not. We went this past Valentine's Day and had a very wonderful time it was just us and another young couple next to us. There was not much of a show, perhaps it was because it was Valentine's Day and they thought we were more into each other than the actual show but the one thing I always look forward to is the saki, there was no offering of any sake to drink from the bottle and that was a big let-down. Other than that food was wonderful, staff was wonderful, everything was wonderful.
Love the decor but everything else was nothing special. Had a group of 20 for Thursday and everyone got their food at different times. It took a really long time and server didn't seem too happy with such a big group. Slow to get more water and after we paid, no employee was to be found. Sushi was meh. Not great, not gross.
Celebrating our sons 13th birthday. Fun atmosphere great food prepared well and entertaining . We all loved what we ordered and also tries some sushi that was delicious.
This is the go-to place for my wife and me. We love coming here for our anniversary and we are never disappointed. I would recommend going here to anyone.
Was very disappointed with our dining experience in the hibachi area. The waitress was inattentive and the hibachi chef was not interactive at all. Was expecting a better experience as this was a 40th birthday dinner for a friend(the restaurant was advised of this 30 days in advance when the reservation was made). The area we were seated at was so cold, it was like the heat was not on in the restaurant at all. Food was good, but overpriced. Overall very disappointing experience. Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Chef’s were so much fun!
I went to Kon with a group of friends to celebrate my birthday and we were all vastly disappointed with the service. When I made the reservation, I was told that if my party (of 6) and I did not arrive by our 7 PM reservation time, they could not guarantee we would get the Hibachi table we requested. That is understandable, as I worked in food service and know that there are other people waiting and that essentially for Hibachi, they cannot just hold a table if the party is late. We showed up right at 7 PM and were seated within 10 minutes of waiting, which was fine as we were all excited to celebrate.
The largest issue came with the fact that while we were seated at 7:10, we did not have anyone come over the start the Hibachi grill until 8:15 PM. That is completely unacceptable that we would have to wait an hour for the 'show' to begin, after being told we needed to arrive promptly at our reservation time. We got our drinks around 7:30ish, and then just sat there, waiting for the Hibachi waiter to come to our table. We even tried to flag a couple waitresses down and ask if we had been forgotten about, and they said they would look into sending someone over. Furthermore, my friends requested that I get a birthday celebration, as they normally do here -- there were about 3 other birthdays in the entire restaurant, and they all got the Kon-themed celebration except for me. I'm not sure why, and we waited for it, but it never happened. To say this was a disappointing birthday dinner would be an understatement, and I would think twice before spending my money here again.
Sashimi was excellent! The ambience was very nice it had a club feel to it. There was a large Buddha in the middle with the rock garden. We were one of two tables there at lunchtime and one other table came in while we were there.Easy access off the highway. The restaurant was a great quick find on OpenTable.
The presentation was fun but not outstanding. The food was OK but not great. The prices were sky high. Our family dinner cost us $185 which is outrageous for Portland, Maine.
Sadly, we experienced phenomenal hibachi while in Mexico this spring and couldn't help but compare...and there is no comparison. Their chefs are flamboyant and put on quite a show of cooking style. The chef we had seemed to be on autopilot, relying exclusively on adult and "baby" sake samples to wow us. Gimmicky.
We left with a lot less money and more than enough of this place.
We had a 6pm hibachi reservation for 4 adults and a toddler. We really enjoyed the food and drinks (sushi for me, hibachi for the rest of my family). The only down side was a long wait for our hibachi chef to arrive and get our meals going. Normally I probably would have just ordered an extra cocktail and an appetizer and not given it another thought, but with a young toddler, a long wait is a LONG wait!
They "cram" too many people into a table. For the $$, customers need to have room to relax, enjoy a cocktail, conversation with family, without 9-10 people crammed into a space for 8... or 6, ideally! We have been going for years, but my last 2 experiences will cause me to think twice before we go again.
