KOKO! Share Bar Ratings and Reviews
Although Koko Share Bar's basement location is unassuming and décor basic the food and exceptionally friendly staff make this a great place to stop for dinner. The sushi is always fresh and the Bibimbap always comes out sizzling. A sampling of creative starts and salads round out the menu.
I had the pleasure of dining at KoKo on Sunday evening. I arrived ahead of the email from Open Table to the restaurant, but they accomodated me with a smile. The menu had some standard Japanese dishes that you would expect, but the Korean influence as really pleasant! In particular, the Kimchi pancake is a definite repeat for my business trip next week.
Notably, at least half the clientele were on a first name basis with the restaurant staff/owners(?). There was a genuiness to the exchange, hugs included.
The restaurant also accomodated a larger party while I was there too, seamlessly.
We loved the food. Everything we ordered was delicious. The service was pleasant—not particularly warm but pleasant—however the server did not offer information or suggestions about dishes, options or quantities for four people. He arrived to take our order at which time we asked for information and he provided it albeit very briefly.
The restaurant was loud—many hard surfaces made conversation challenging particularly because one of our party is a slight hearing impairment—yet the decor is lovely.
Unfortunately gluten-free means taste free. They achieve gluten free by not putting sauces on their dishes. All spicing including salt appears to be in the sauces. Almost inedible and the server couldn't cope with finding salt or lemons to try to make it palatable. Will not go back.
The only suggestion is regarding the "open table" request box. I asked to be seated by the window. Clearly the restaurant did not pull up the reservation until the date of dining. They called 2 hours before our reservation to say the window was already booked. Obviously they booked it through their own reservations, as I requested that seating several weeks ago.
One cannot be assured special requests will be met on- line as restaurants don't always read bookings ahead of time.
