I've been here a number of times over the years, its always good. We started with the Dolmas & some beets which were a special, both very good. One had the moussaka, the other a goat stew special, both very good. only complaint is $46 for goat stew is way overpriced. It's goat stew meat, its an inexpensive cut of meat. But it was very good. We were there for a birthday, they did decorate the dessert plate and add a candle, however not comped. Place could use some updating. The upholstery on the chair arms were pretty frayed. Service was helpful and efficient. For a special occasion, the place delivers
Consistently on point. If the place wasn't so hard to get into, I'd be eating here a lot more often!
Food was outstanding as usual.. ambience is cozy and warm yet sophisticated and upscale. Our server Johnny was knowledgeable, very friendly, and steered us in all the right directions. Can’t wait to come back next time we’re in the city!
As expected, everything about the experience was five star plus. Kokkarri exemplifies casual elegance.
This time around we had the octopus(again) and the grilled lamb tongue appetizers. Both were exceptional. Trying the lamb chops for the first time, I must say that they are the best I have ever tasted.
Service was genuinely friendly, professional, and never rushed. Our new #1 in SF.
Wonderful Anniversary Dinner!
Amazing food but the restaurant did not have the air conditioning on. The temperature made the experience less than perfect.
Best lamb chops anywhere! (I never order anything but.) Great rice pudding too. Excellent service, as you’d expect from one of the best restaurants in the City!
As always, the service was wonderful and the food spectacular. We typically order from the starter menu and then picking or two main dishes to share for four. Everything comes rapidly and with an unobtrusive interruption. Before we moved to SF we would make it our priority to get a table at Kokkari each trip from LA. Now that we are in the city... we find any excuse! Authentic Greek pastries and sweet delicacies always finish the meal, with a lovely Greek coffee (served Metrio, or half sugar for my taste) that will keep you up for a week, but is my favorite treat. They have a very complete bar and a seemingly endless wine list. Book now. I insist!
I’m Greek. So that’s probably enough to say. The waitress was correcting my pronunciation, even though obviously she was wrong and I was right. Someone needs to give the staff a lesson by a real Greek. The food can’t compare to real geek food unfortunately
They forgot to celebrate the whole reason for us going there which was my friends birthday, even though I told them when I called in and when I got there. Was really embarrassing
Good overall experience but as we were there celebrating a birthday it was surprising that they did not offer or even attempt to send over a complimentary dessert.
This place is amazing - one of the best meals in SF. The lamb chops are a must try but everything in the menu was delicious!
As always a very special dining experience. Food Service all superb. The benchmark for Bay Area cuisine
Amazing from beginning to end. Could not have asked for a better experience or evening- fantastic!
Not my first time to Kokkari but lived up to my extremely positive memory of my last visit. The staff, the food, the atmosphere and even the other patrons were all so welcoming. It’s clear that the owners have worked hard to create a first-class experience that is not pretentious but inviting, warm, and sincere. Every bite was a rare, flavorful delight and this dinner will remain another one locked in my treasured memories for years to come.
Always an outstanding meal and experience at Kokkari.
Always wonderful from starters through dessert and all points in between.
We love Kokkari. Always outstanding. Just an average weekday, or a special occasion. Phenomenal.
Was very pleased with the evening. The food was amazing( and my partner is Greek so that is saying something)! Is was served to us in a timely manner as well. It is quite expensive but it is definitely worth it! The only down side was a few of the workers seemed to be having an argument at some point near our table which was weird, but it didn’t affect our night!
I just love this place. Took a work colleague who had never enjoyed Kokkari and was very pleased with the food (as usual) but even more importantly, the service. Our server Shane was excellent- great recommendations, pace, and attention. We had the rotisserie of the day, lamb skewer, artichokes, and zucchini cakes. Lovely bottle of chablis and finished off with two ouzos. Was another fantastic dinner at Kokkari. They have gained a new fan in my work colleague
Fantastic food and service
Was top notch
All time favorite restaurant
Service, as is often said, was excellent and friendly. The dining room promotes a truly relaxing and quite lively experience. The food, however, was uneven. An heirloom tomato and feta salad proved the perfect late summer salad while a romaine salad was bland and uninteresting. A pork belly appetizer lacked everything. Too thin and too charred, it paled when compared to almost every pork belly ever. There needs to be a a better balance between the crispy exterior and the usually tender interior. This was like one of my mother’s over cooked pork chops. In the quality middle were fried smelts, which suffered from an overwhelming greasy flavor. The best appetizer was the taramasalata, the traditional Greek fish roe aioli (of sorts). Served with their incredible pickled vegetables, it was also the best value of the evening. But one doesn’t dine at Kokkari for value. Still, one should feel that the quality is worth the price. All three very expensive entrees were excellent. The rotisserie pork chop was perfectly cooked and a very generous portion. The lamb shank was tender and flavorful and the grilled lamb chops were perfect. We shared one excellent dessert with phyllo, fresh apricot, custard a d pistachio ice cream. Only one glass of wine was consumed. The bill, not including gratuity, was $272 for three. Although we enjoyed ourselves, we all agreed that there were too many misses for the money spent.
I would like to come back this Greek food was delicious dinner every time we ate
Celebrated our anniversary on Saturday evening is the main dining room where the windows were wide open on a warm evening... romantic, classy, DELICIOUS every bite, great wines by the glass, too.
Still My favorite dining experience in SF
Perfect nice haha!
Our party of 5 had a wonderful meal at Kokkari! We shared everything, and tilted the order towards numerous appetizers and fewer mains. Noteworthy were the white corn, the goat stew (not on the menu but a frequent special), a special stone fruit and mozzarella salad. Excellent wine list rounded out a lovely evening. Highly recommend!
Also great for business, a date, fine dining
Everything is great : food, wine list, service. Only concern is amount of tables and very close position which makes it super difficult to have a conversation at your own table.
Todo ok , solo que está muy viejo . Y la comida es normal
The food is devine and the peaches and apricot salad was amazing!
It is my favorite restaurant in SF
Incredible food and service
Awesome as usual. My go to place for a top rated business dinner experience. Trick is getting a table.
Never ever disappoints. Great service, amazing food and fantastic Ouzo!
Always an incredible meal here. The goat stew was very memorable.
Always amazing food I’d never try anywhere else
Another solid meal at consistently amazing Kokkari. Wonderful menu, lovely setting, and attentive staff. All aces!
I was so disappointed. Kokkari has such a great reputation so I was excited I got a reservation even at 7:45 on a Sunday night. Our server upsold us a basic wine that turned out to be $70 a bottle then was inattentive at best. We requested the bottle be kept on ice and had to request refills since she never checked back on the food or wine. When we did, she over-filled the glasses and left the bottle on the table so she wouldn't have to come back. As for the food, we ordered the Aginares Souvlaki and Saghanaki for appetizer, the Avgolemono soup and Domatosalata to start. For mains we ordered the Sea Bass and Moussaka. The grilled artichokes had inedible leaves left on them and all the food was overly salty rather than well spiced. The Domatosalata was the best dish served - yes, the salad. And for the inattentive service and mediocre salty food the bill came to a whopping $275!!! So not worth the price and an overall disappointing experience.
