Overpriced fare for medium quality. Transferring high Bryant Park rent to diners.
The service was horrible! I walked in to check in for our 7:45 pm reservation and one hostess told me she had me checked in and to just let her know when the other person arrived. My date arrived literally three minutes later. I asked the same hostess about the table and she directed me back to the front booth to check in. Once we checked in for a second time the table still wasn't ready. We weren't offered an opportunity to sit in the lounge or go to the bar while we waited. We just stood in the middle of the floor waiting. Another hostess approached us and asked if we understood how "fluidity of tables" works and we said no, to which she replied with "well people aren't getting up as fast as we would like." She then offered to sit us at the sushi bar, to which I refused. Only to turn around and see a party of two leaving and asking another hostess if we could sit there. We were given the table, but the whole debacle was uncomfortable and disconcerting.
It’s expensive but worth it! Fresh sushi and great atmosphere
Delicious work lunch! The food, and service were great as were the cocktails! Highly recommend!
Exceptional restaurant, never disappointed in the least bit. Consistently great food and great service. Always one of my go-to spots.
Overpriced and underfed
It was ok nothing fantastic
My husband and I had an amazing dining experience here! The staff was very attentive to our needs. The food, wow. Would definitely come back !
Quick service and great food for an early dinner (7 pm). Pretty pricey. Not very busy at that time on a Saturday night
The staff was friendly, efficient and helpful. I ordered the Duck Breast which was superb. The skin was crispy and the meat was moist and flavorful. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the Filet. I look forward to my next visit to this restaurant.
The increase in prices ruined the experience to the point of not wanting to ever go back.
Great location. Great food
Yikes- quite embarrassed to have made this suggestion to our friends. Food arrived (incorrectly) before our drinks, which took 20 minutes from when we ordered and about 45 from when we first sat down. Black cod never arrived. Waiter was oblivious and didn’t seem to care. 2nd drinks were wrong but we didn’t want to spend another 20 min waiting. Not sure our waiter was even listening to us. He never stopped by to check on us or our order. Terrible experience.
Amazing food: quality; variety; innovative!!! Service was also excellent. The atmosphere was perfect for that special moment with my daughter, that also appreciated a lot our lunch that day!
I love this place!! It was my second time there, the service is great, food is great and the place is beautiful. The dragon roll is to die for!! 😋😋 I absolutely recommend!!
My first time at Koi and had suggested coming here with a colleague from London. The hostess that greeted us was surly and unfriendly which didn’t give us a good first impression however the night was salvaged by the delicious food and the great service provided by our server. The koi crispy rice and lobster tacos were fresh and exquisite.
Food is unbelievably good. Service excellent and friendly and attentive. Noise level way too loud—hard to talk w/o yelling
I ordered 4 meals there aren't special tasty. The price is hight.
Wonderful food. So glad we came. Kind of loud and tables very close together but SO delicious! Really fun.
The food and atmosphere was great but we had to wait over an hur even though we had a reservation.
My second time at KOI, and the food was even more excellent than the first time. Japanese food, but prepared American style. And reasonably priced. We had a business dinner with the intention to discuss, but that was difficult due to the high noise level. My first visit was during a quiet night, so choose your timing right. Good service and good wine as well.
Japanese restaurant right next to Bryant park. Very attentive service and great dishes - if you like duck I can only recommend it. Great sushi selection with a contemporary presentation.
The shishito peppers were over cooked and the mackerel sashimi mushy and old. Not their finest.
Koi has been a favorite of my wife & I for years. (We’re both foodies) Exceptional in every aspect as usual. For any newbies, anything you order for appetizers or entrees will be amazing, but this is one place you HAVE TO save room for dessert. I usually never order dessert, but a Koi Sundae is a MUST.
I had dined at Koi before and had an excellent meal and so was looking forward to taking my wife.
The first warning sign was that the restaurant was not full on a Friday night, although you would not have known from the attitude of the front-of-house, who appeared to believe that talking politely to customers was beneath them.
The tables are just about far enough apart that you do not obviously overhear your neighbors, but the high ceilings given this is at lobby level of a hotel, mean considerable noise even when not full. The decor and design fits the fusion theme and there is a pleasing ambiance.
To begin, we had avocado truffle oil on rice bread, which was the highlight of the meal, and a bland mushroom dish, which arrived after the avocado toast. I persuaded my wife that we should have the black cod and spare ribs, because these had been so good last time I was here and my companion on that occasion had ordered a second spare ribs. On arrival of the dishes, my wife pronounced the black cod too fishy and handed it over to me. It certainly had a strong smell and the flesh had an unusual orange tinge. The spare ribs were overcooked, tough and chewy.
We didn't risk a dessert, provided the obligatory tip for non existent service, paid the check and left.
There wasn't anything wrong with our dining experience, but there wasn't anything exciting about it either. It is in the bottom of a hotel and the decor on the website looked a lot more interesting and intimate. In real life it was kind of cavernous and loud. Service was good and the sushi was fine, but honestly nothing to write home about....sorry hate to give a less than stellar review but out of all the places we ate in NY this was the least favorite experience.
The food was sub par for the first time. I’ve enjoyed the crispy rice and it was not as good as in he past.
Always consistently amazing food and service!
The salmon was cooked perfectly! Overall great experience.
Very average all around. The reviews were misleading.
Nice place and great food!!
The ambience is great, perfect for business lunch. The food is excellent, some of the best I've had in the area. Service was quick and effective, and the personnel polite and pleasant to engage with. I will definitely be back to Koi many times.
Very crowded and lively for lunchtime mid-week! The edamame dumplings were the highlight of my meal - delicious. The Miso Black Cod was good, but not melt-in-your-mouth good that you find at a few of Koi's competitors.
Always great food, great service and they have great management
Came here for my graduation celebration with my parents. My mother was very excited to try the lobster tail. We read about its reviews online and decided to try it. Needless to say we were very disappointed, it was pretty bland and tasted bitter. The steak dishes were okay but not amazing. I tried Koi for restaurant week last year and fell in love with the presentation and taste of the food. But the standard was definitely not the same. I expected the taste to be better for the amount paid. But I won't be recommending Koi for any other special occasion.
Sonido ensordecedor y cocina mediocre con raciones escasas y con precios altos. No volveré.
Wonderful food: flavor, freshness, presentation. Service was excellent. Way too loud to have any business discussion.
setting is swank. food is great but a bit over-priced. you’re paying for the location and ambiance.
Food was great! Had a 7:15 Pm reservation and wasn’t seated until 8:15 PM. Server was attentive but spilled a beer on us. Would I go back? Yes but only because of the food. Very crowded reception area.
Was staying near Bryant Park for a work related class and my coworker and I were in the mood for sushi. Sushi was fresh, calamari salad was literally one of the best things both of us have ever eaten. Service was great! Would definitely go back if I were in the area again!
