Koi - Bryant Park Ratings and Reviews
As always the food was phenomenal. I LIVE for the Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice....you cannot find it better anywhere. Koi will always have a special place in my heart, as I got engaged there 12 years ago, however the food and atmosphere is second to none in NYC.
Reservation was for 5:30 pm. Apparently, that's when the place opens. Around 30+ people waiting outside to get in. They opened doors at 5:28. We had to wait in the lounge to be seated for 20 minutes, yet there were plenty of tables. The food comes out when it's ready, but not necessarily together. Food was excellent, but my wife sat there and looked at her plate waiting for my order to be served. Good food. Service could be better.
Over-rated and expensive with cheesy decor that did look good only on photos. Our waiter was great. He was attentive and knowledgeable. The food was okay, nothing to come back for. The crowd was extremely after work, wannabe to seen and obnoxious. The restaurant was just very loud where they kept replaying three of the same songs, over and over and over ... and over. My first time and last time there.
The food was very good and so was the service. Nevertheless, although we had reservations, we waited too long and were almost giving up. A nice gesture from the owner manager, who sent us a house treat apologizing for not having a table for us, was appreciated and set a new mood for the night. After we sat at the table, all went very well.
We came here to celebrate my sisters birthday. We had a fabulous time. We ordered the roasted seabass and it melted in my mouth. My sister ordered the cod, my friend ordered the steak and other friend ordered the short ribs. For apps we had the crispy rice and a couple of specialty rolls and they were delish. We also ordered the glazed green beans as a side and it was more than plenty for the 4 of us. There are two different types of seabass and I hear they are both very good. All the people who served us were very professional and friendly. We had an enjoyable time and will certainly come back.
What started out great, quickly turned sour.
Booking a reservation was seamless via Open Table, and Koi-Bryant Park was proactive calling a day before to confirm the reservation. We arrived a few minutes late due to holiday traffic, however were accommodated without issue.
Our waiter, started our dining experience off very astutely. He was patient, and welcoming. Unfortunately, his personality changed quickly over what we deemed to be not ordering a bottle of wine. As our party has a few nondrinkers our party chose to drink by the glass. This attitude devolved even more as we chose not to have dessert. I'd add that the additional wait staff assigned to our table (refilling waters and taking finished plates) was very rude and aggressive as well; from start to finish. We were flabbergasted.
The cuisine was great from presentation to taste. With that being said I would be weary of the service. The hosts and manager were commendable in trying to fix the issue, unfortunately as aforementioned the damage was done by the wait staff, completely souring what was otherwise a respectable restaurant in terms of cuisine, ambiance, and presentation.
This restaurant is seriously overrated and overpriced. Food is completely non-distinctive. The $6 bowl of miso soup has nothing going for it that a $2 bowl of miso soup doesn't have, not even size. The staff is diffident. The lobster and crab roll lacked flavor. It's very noisy. I would not go back.
Reliably good! Crispy rice tuna , baked crab hand rolls, edamame dumplings, lobster tacos are items we order over and over but everything on the menu is good. The Sunday is probably the best Sunday I have ever had anywhere. It’s a real treat and worth going to the gym for!
The room is beautiful and the idea of the food is good, but what used to be a good thing feels tired. The hosts set the tone for a mediocre evening by greeting the loudest and most obnoxious guests first, completely disregarding the guests waiting patiently to be greeted and it just continues from there with a waitress who is overtaxed by the number of tables she is handling to servers just rushing the food out and dumping it on the table. It was embarrassing to have chosen this to host a business guest and I chose a different restaurant next time.
Koi is usually one of my favorite restaurants. The food was definitely not as good this time. The crispy rice appetizer tasted like it had been sitting out. It was hard to chew and we got two orders of this because we typically love it. The sushi rolls were kind of bland. Prices are extremely high for sub par food.
Using OpenTable, we were seated almost immediately. The location is right next to Bryant Park, so easy to find. Our waiter was very good about explaining options and portion size. My friend and I split the whitefish and braised short ribs. Perfect size to leave room for the chocolate/banana egg roll. More to try on my next visit for sure.
