Kobe Steaks - Nashville - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
Arrived later than planned but the evening was great! Not many people present but a couple soon joined us in the room. I hadn't been there since my daughter's high school graduation. She is now working on her PHD! The place hasn't messed a beat! My lady enjoyed things immensely! We had the Chef to ourselves! The food was tasty and plentiful! Wish I could there more often! Love the place!
The air conditioning was not working. It was so hot we didn't not finish our meal. Big fans set up that looked tacky and did not help cool anything off. I was disappointed. This used to be THE place to go in Nashville. The food was delicious, but the restaurant was too hot to enjoy
I have been coming here for 20 years and it is almost always good to great. This time there were a few glaring problems that were hopefully only due to the Mother's Day rush and possibly a new cook. The wait was fine, the restaurant looks like it always does, and they are fairly friendly. The problem was all at the table. The chef looked WORN out, seriously bad for wear. And a bit lost. Not that he didn't know how or what to cook, but the order, the prep, the show. All of this seemed like he was brought in from another place. The worst part was that he was so out of it he handed jars of sauce and paste to each guest to scoop with their own utensils. That's a health code violation. He also let the rice sit forever in a vat of oil and while I think the fried rice there is the best thing ever, it was barely up to local Chinese food standards. So oily....Not even a hint of a show which frankly has become a throw away the last few years. All of this combined and considering I brought 5 guests, we were about to say something to the always friendly management when lo and behold, almost all of the meal (save the rice) came out fantastic. The scallops were the best I've tasted anywhere. The steak was perfect. All in all no where near the usual standards of such a good place, but the food was still great at a decent enough price. I will of course return because I like this place, but that was really unfortunate.
The food was pretty average. Our chef didn't really put on a show. He flipped the shrimp a little but no knife skills and they all seemed pretty bored with the job. Not worth $30 a plate anymore. This place used to be bangin. It was kind of disappointing because I expected it to be an amazing first time experience for my son and he wasn't impressed. The staff was nice- just no energy and no typical teppenyaki performance.
The hibachi area that we were placed in was not as nice & updated as we thought it would be. The experience would have been better if we would be tried the traditional dining. The waitress wasn't as attentive, due to whatever. Overall, for the price you pay it could be better. The drinks were good and so was the food.
Waitress was absolutely horrible. We had never attended the establishment. After being seated we asked the waitress what she suggested for dinner, she then returned with a snide remark stating I would not recommend anything. The show was horrible during the preparation of the meal the overall experience was horrible seeing as how we brought a party of 10 consisting of five children they were extremely disappointed. The table was dirty and overall place felt run down and staff didn't seem to enjoy their job.
We were celebrating a birthday and we're all very excited. FrI'm start to finish this whole experience was extremely disappointing. The waitress was extremely rude and one of the worst I've ever experienced. We were trying to make the best of the situation but at the end our waitress disappeared for at least 30 minutes after she brought out boxes. We asked about midway up front what was going on and if they would come sing and they said she'd be at the table any minute. After wsiting a while longer there was no sign of her. We decided to get up and leave and get out check at the front. They were very sorry and even took care of our check. Though we appreciated this, there is no way we'll eat there again.
The menu was overpriced, the food was mediocre at best, and every surface had a layer of grease on it. Left there feeling gross and underwhelmed, especially for the price we paid. At least Our server was kept our drinks filled. Would not recommend this restaurant. There are many better options within walking distance.
We've been going to Kobe's for many years - probably 20 or more to back when our children were small. It was our go to place for special occasions. I think Kobe still has the same furnishings as the first time we went. The exhaust fan over the grill is disgusting and the paint around the grill is chipping and the same ugly red it has been for years. You always wonder just how clean that grill really is. Overall, the restaurant has a real dirty/grungy feel. Service is usually decent but this time it was poor. Server seemed really distracted - kept complaining about all the college party girls drinking sake. Three of us had steamed rice instead of fried. He forgot to bring it and only did after we asked about it - when we were nearly already through with our meals. Water glasses were often empty. He brought the check like he was in a rush to get us out of there. We had to ask about dessert which he brought us but seemed disappointed that we knew dessert was included in the meal and that would mean we would stay longer. The only saving grace for the place is the food is consistently good and cooked to order right in front of you. And it is still kind of neat to watch young kids get excited about the onion volcano and the shrimp tail flips. However, unless we see that they have done major renovations and freshened up the place, we probably won't be going back anytime soon.
The food and chef were good but the service was the worst I have ever had. Ordered an iced tea and got one glass. The chef had to fill the water glasses for us. The waitress was lost she screwed up all of the orders and the checks. We sat in the area where you must remove your shoes. No big deal right??? Wrong the floor was wet so my socks were soaked for the whole meal. White wet socks really show of your floor cleaning skills or show that you have no floor cleaning skills. The furnishings in the lounge area are so out dated. They have been there for at least 30 years and they smell like it! For the price of the food they should be able to afford a few new couches and maybe someone to clean the e9 year old carpet.
I had a great time good service ,good food, great entertainment.we were seated on time and was made to feel at home at the bar . We were celebrating a grand baby on the way . I highly recommend for anyone celebrating or just a great meal and intertainment . Thanks to all that made our night special and our cook Sain also Farr and Erick
For one the waitress was not a good one. out of the whole time there. i got one glass of water, one! I can count on one hand how many times i seen her. And two i found a PAPER CLIP in my soup! All the manager could say half price off my meal WTF! i could have swallow the PAPER CLIP! I don't think i will be coming back anytime soon! But to everyone who will. CHECK YOUR SOUP!
Kobe's has always been the place that we go to for special occasions (for 20+ years). The food is always excellent and we've never had a complaint.
However, this time was a terrible experience. The waitress was terrible-slow, disorganized, we had to ask for our rice multiple times...it finally came out mid-meal. We also had to ask for refills and we didn't get our check until half of the rest of the table had already paid and left (and not because we weren't finished eating...we were).
Also, 4 of the 8 at the table were rude and using extremely profane language continuously throughout the meal. It would have been appropriate for the chef to get the manager to address that, I think. There was no way that he could have not heard it b/c it was constant and loud.
All in all, it was a terrible experience. If it had been our first time there we would never go back.
Our server was absolutely horrible. Worst service I've ever had. I had to go to the bar just to get my own drink in the middle of eating. At the end, she said she had to clean up the table before bringing our checks, etc., etc., etc.,..so many problems with that server and she had a terrible attitude.
Never going back.
I spent over two hours in that restaurant ! My order was wrong and they had 1 server so you can imagine my wait for food, refill, place order. It took me over 30 mins to be seated with a reservation. Definitely won't be returning anytime soon. Shogun is wwaaayyyyyyyyy better! The only good thing is the amount of food you get but sometimes good service over ranks that!
Server was in a big hurry to leave. We didn't intend on staying any longer than necessary to eat dinner and left before they closed. She asked us if we wanted to go boxes as soon as the food was put onto our plates and stood there after placing receipt on table waiting for payment and did not offer the included dessert until I asked for it.
Sadly we were overall disappointed and probably will never go back, no not probably. We had a reservation and were taken back right at 7pm, the host was inviting and friendly. We had no idea we would have to remove our shoes to eat. I understand that it is the culture but there was no warning of this. It is the middle of winter and we had on heavy boots but thankfully socks too. I would not have stayed had I had to be barefoot. The service was mediocre; my boyfriend asked for extra rice instead of vegetables and was told no, we were never offered drinks other than water, and our waitress was less than friendly. For the price of the food we were not impressed. We are used to hibachi being an upscale entertaining experience, sadly this wasn't. They also don't have white sauce.
Food was mediocre but they give you a lot of it. The only redeeming quality was that the waitress was super sweet and the chef was friendly. The place is outdated and not very inviting. I have been to other hibachi that were WAY better... don't waste your money!
