Kobe Japanese Steak House Ratings and Reviews
My parents came from Richmond Indiana for my son's graduation from California State North Ridge receiving his Bachlor's Degree being that my family and I have gone to Kobe's for many celebrations we thought this would not only be a fantastic place to take my parents but, to also celebrate my son's graduation and as always it did not disappoint.
Kobe's is a fun restaurant with excellent food and interesting chefs. It is good for those who enjoy meeting new people and sharing a meal together. The food is prepared at your table shared by other customers and is enhanced with ginger and mustard sauces. The grilled vegetables are a bit too thick and a thin cut on the squash would be appreciated with the addition of more mushroom ratio to squash. Otherwise, a lovely and tasty meal. The chicken and shrimp are cooked to a good temperature and taste great. The green tea ice cream offers a light flavorful compliment to the dinner. Overall a fun, fulfilling dining experience.
Normally the food is amazing, but on this occasion Our chef over cooked and under seasoned all the food. He absolutely didn't know how to cook a steak. When you are paying $40-$50 a plate I expect my food to be cooked right. My family and I were very disappointed with our birthday celebration.
We dined here Saturday with our kids and grandkids to celebrate my husband's birthday. The chef was fun and entertaining and cooked our steaks perfectly. The food was delicious although the portions are huge. Cocktail waitress was very slow. Overall a great and fun evening.
My family and I made a 6:15p reservation on a Friday night to celebrate two family birthdays. We checked in for our reservation at 6p and were told we would be seated shortly. At 6:45p we still had not been seated. We inquired about why there was such a long wait when we had a reservation and were told that there were still people seated at the table that we were going to be seated at. We were finally seated at 7, did not even get our drink orders taken until 715pm an hour after our reservation time. We had a 3 year old toddler with us that was starving and ended up eating goldfish crackers for dinner because the wait was so long. My husband order a chicken and shrimp dinner and the chef forgot to give him the chicken portion. My daughter complained to management and they comped the meal minimally. So disappointed in this experience definitely will not be going back. We could have had a much nicer meal AND experience for a lot less money and stress. My daughter had a much better experience at a similar place down the street for half the price. My suggestion, don't waste your time or money.
Every time we visit Palm Springs we are sure to stop in at Kobe. Food is always excellent, the kids love the show (and eat so much!), service is fantastic and the quality of the beef, which I am fairly picky about, is always tender! Overall, always a GREAT experience.
We visited Kobe several years ago and were so impressed by the ambiance ... the ladies in Kimonos and the beautiful Koi fish in the entry. On our original visit, the teppan chef was Japanese and had a great flair for cooking and entertainment. We left thinking that we would definitely make this a tradition for future visits. Fast forward to several years later ... only a few ladies in kimonos, our teppan chef was middle eastern and the whole experience was more like a restaurant in Disneyland. It was all about getting us in and out as quickly as possible. The food was mediocre at best and the feel of being in Japan was definitely gone. How sad. We drove several hundred miles to get there but we won't be returning.
As depicted on the website, our server was extremely helpful and attentive; she was always checking in with us as she passed by. There was never a, "where is the server, or when is the server coming around" thought. I would look up and she would be headed our way, if not already there.
Love the food, chefs and overall atmosphere. The hostesses at the front desk could use a few classes on proper customer service and greeting people. They have no personality and leave a bad impression when you first enter, luckily everyone else is great and the food is tasty so that makes up for their lack of enthusiasm.
My wife and I have dined many times at the Kobe Steak house, in Rancho Mirage, and have found the quality of the service, menu selections, and prices to be consistently good. As always, the preparation is a show in itself; and the people you meet at the table certainly contribute to the overall experience. We were delighted with the evening and will return again when we visit the area again.
