Kobe Japanese Steak House
The word "KOBE" suggests to the gourmet the ultimate in the finest beef, raised on delicacies, and gently massaged to perfection.
Watch....as we lovingly prepare the tenderest steak, the freshest seafood, free-range chicken, and garden fresh vegatables....all before your very eyes in true Japanese style.
The food was amazing and the chef was very engaging. Our experience would have been better if there was more space for us to eat other than that if it was amazing.
Our favourite place for our family to eat when we come to Vancouver from the Okanagan!
Went for Dineout Festival with my partner. The booking process and seating was really quick and easy, and service was great. Only issue I/we had was that the value of food we got wasn’t actually great, and we left still slightly hungry. Totally understand that it’s a set menu and the portions would be presumably smaller, but it definitely didn’t feel like 45$ worth of food. This kind of place is definitely adding the cost of experience into the price. Also not the biggest fan of the mandatory 18% gratuity, regardless of party size.... Great to try out, but probably won’t come back again.
The atmosphere of this restaurant is amazing. Such a good vibe and we had a fantastic chef who was very personable and made great conversation. Food was fantastic.
Service was Amazing!!! I would go back in a heartbeat
I made a reservation here for my boyfriends birthday. Our cook was great and the food was outstanding! It was a great experience food wise and I can see why everyone hypes this place up so much. Unfortunately my boyfriend could not finish all his food and he had asked to have it packed up, to take home. The waitress never brought back our food, instead they brought us a bill and we paid and forgot and left. So we left without getting the left over meal. It was a bit expensive of a meal to not be able to finish the whole thing or at least bring it home. So this was disappointing. We also were looked at funny when we asked to have our coats at the end of the night because the coat person forgot to give us a ticket to claim our jackets. Overall great food, just wish our experience was a bit better with the staff.
Such a great experience! Heard from friends about how good the food was, made a reservation, and didn’t know what to expect. It was a great atmosphere and it made for a perfect meal!
We were sitting against a wall and was annoying having to get up every time someone had to go to the bathroom.
Our chef Raffy was new. He made that clear when he first entered the table. Guests expect to be entertained with acrobatics and fun things with fire, but Raffy was new so we didn't get as much excitement as the other table next to us. I paid $100 in total for a mediocre chef experience and even more mediocre meal. I come to hibachi/teppanyaki restaurants for entertainment and really good steak. Didn't get it either this time. Won't be coming back, unfortunately.
Great experience! Chef Max created a very entertaining show as he grilled some of the best steak I’ve ever had in my life. The servers were also very energetic, and friendly, they also did a great job ensuring my cup was never empty. The only negative experience was the large group that we were seated with. Please keep in that mind that when attending a Hibachi style restaurant, you are not the only party at the table. Don’t be on your phone when the Chef is performing, and don’t ruin the experience for others.
10/10 to Kobe
Love Kobe’s! Always have.
It’s a good choice for special occasions. Delicious food, great service and pleasant experience.
Have been to Kobe many, many times, though it’s been a couple years since last visit. Prices have really gone up!! Must be the reason they can still stay open. Still a great time and food aside from cost.
Lobster and steak were overcooked. We were celebrating our anniversary and there were also 3 birthdays at our table, which over shadowed our evening by the chef giving them extras, leaving us ignored.
Always a great place for a date night!
We usually go to Kobe at least once a year but this is the only time we brought the kids to watch a little show from the chef, unfortunately we didn't have much because the people whose with us in the table were regulars and they don't want the show anymore .
Steak wasn’t $58 worth, (tenderness/taste)
More skilled tricks for the chef was expected. But he was nice. And good sense of humour
Always a favourite. Food and service is always consistently good.
Went to Kobe for new year's eve dinner and it did not disappoint! Great atmosphere and delicious food.
The chef was quite rude to other customers who have some requests for food allergies. The server should have informed the chef before he confirmed the order. Also, our server was quite rude and impatient. It was for hubby’s birthday, but it was very disappointing! We haven’t gone back for many years but after this unpleasant experience, we may not go back again anymore. Not welcoming at all. Not worth the value.
Service was great. Fun experience
Never coming back, I found a piece of nail in my food, possibly whoever chopped the veggies or the show chef cut off his nail with the food. I couldn't tell anyone then because the table was shared and we were surrounded by a big group with lots of kids (it was new years eve) so I didn't want to make it a bad experience for them too. It was definitely disappointing and disgusting.
New Year’s Eve.
Kobe in Vancouver is definitely the best teppanyaki restaurant anywhere. Highly recommended.
Delicious, the chairs are not good for short people.
This is always my go to place for friends from out of town! It’s like having dinner and a show in one night! So fun and absolutely delicious!!!
The food and atmosphere in general is good. Two issues on this visit: #1we were seated over 30 minutes past reservation time due to error at hostess stand and #2 steak was requested medium rare but was more like medium.
food was great. I enjoy the dinner steak is amazing
I have been taking my daughter to Kobe's for her Birthday for the last 5 years and it has always been great except for this year. Our reservation was for 7:30 we arrived at 7:20. In the lounge having a drink we were told at 7:30 our table wouldn't be ready for 15 more minutes. At 8:00 I inquired how much longer it would be as I no longer have an esophagus and only half my stomach so it's not good for me to eat too late. (as a note I had phoned earlier to ask if I could just pick off my daughter's and friends plate as I can't eat much and was told I would have to pay $20) They told me the bill was paid at our table but they had not left yet. We were finally taken to our table around 8:20 after we paid for our drinks (which should have been comped). Our waitress took a long time to take our drink order and seemed very uninterested in serving us to the point of being rude. We finally received our soup at 8:45 (which our vegan friend could not eat nor could she eat the prawns but we paid for it) at that point I was full. I couldn't find our server so I went to the front desk at ask them to take the $20 extra charge off as I probably wouldn't be able to eat much more than our friends prawns, they said they would let our server know. Our chef was great acknowledging our vegan request but didn't acknowledge my daughters Birthday as they usually do (I always inform this when making reservation). The food was good but I could only eat one prawn and a couple of veggies. Our server never once ask us if we needed more drinks and only saw her when she and another server sang happy Birthday to someone in the group beside us when they brought them ice cream. Another server brought me the bill with the extra $20 charge on it I explained it should have been taken off and could we at least have some ice cream, she gave it to our server. Our server slammed my revised bill down and plopped the ice cream and sparkler in front of my daughter. I left a 10% tip because chef was good.
I have ordered the vegetarian special. The chef was very consider by cooking my dish before he cooked the meat and seafood for others after he learned that I’m a vegetarian.
The food was tasty but inadequate quality wise, not what I paid for. I’m certain that I could get better value for what I paid for in other places. The fried rice was over priced.
Excelente lugar , atención y calidad de alimentos.
I was disappointed. I’ve been there many times. I took my friend who has never been. We were on the 3rd floor squished in by that opening and there was such a cold draft coming in. We were packed in like sardines that I could barely eat. I had to hold my soup up to my mouth to eat it as there wasn’t enough table room. They guy next to me was 1/2 in my area cuz he had no choice. They got our food order wrong and it took a very long time to get drinks. So disappointed as I can’t always afford a nice dinner like this.
Service was very good, many servers walking around and can attend to you right away. Raffy was an excellent chef and performer, my partner and I really enjoyed. For our first times we would definitely go again.
My daughter and son-in-law’s 25th year together
This place is a tradition we go to every year and have been doing for the past 5-6 years. We enjoy the food and the service but this time we had some drunk guy almost ruin our time. We were about to leave due to this, but the manager was able to handle the situation and rebook our party once the nuisance was removed. I appreciate their cooperation in helping us continue our tradition coming here.
I love Kōbe best dining experience except for that the prices are very high. This place is so expensive I could only go every two to five years.
The steak portion of the meal was excellent but unfortunately we were seated with a child who had allergies to shellfish. This meant that our shrimp appetizer came at the end of our meal and I was the last to eat as I ordered the seafood combo. By the time I was served the protein/expensive part of my meal, I was full from rice, vegetables and the abundance of bean sprouts that I was served.
When our chef spoke, he was funny but there was no show with our meal. All we got was a flaming volcano. I have seen much better shows at the grill from other restaurants. Everything felt very rushed as it seemed like the restaurant was trying to hurry things along for the next reservation.
Other than the steak (that I had to take from my guests plates since I had to wait for my seafood), this restaurant was certainly not worth the $250-300 that we paid.
Enjoyed the food and our chef was excellent and good sense of humor.
