Kobe Japanese Steak House, Teppan & Sushi Ratings and Reviews
Great Tepan chefs that are entertaining and funny. This setting gives you the opportunity to meet new people or just watch your food being prepared with your party. Great tasting food with a varitity of drink options to choose from. Love going to this place.
The restaurant was extremely loud with a live band in lounge and no division between teppan room and bar. The service was not good. My father in law was served worst margarita I have ever tasted. Manager did come over and explain he was training someone new at the bar and would not charge him for the drink. We were charged for the drink. It was my son's birthday and going away to college celebration and it was disappointing. He ordered steamed rice instead of fried and had to remind server several times to bring. He finally got it after we were all done eating. Even the chef's "show" while cooking lacked substance and energy. Food was very blah for the price...not bad but nothing to write home about. Overall a very disappointing evening.
We dined at the teppanyaki and had a good time. We also met some new people to enjoy the fun with. The food was good but not exceptional. For two of us with tempera appetizer, tuna sashimi, dinner and only soft drinks, the bill came to $115. As I mentioned before, it was good but I'm not sure it was worth $115, plus tip, for two with no alcoholic beverages. I've been more pleased with other teppan restaurants for half the price.
Very disappointed in our service. Out reservation was Tuesday night at 6:30, service was extremely slow and when we ordered our dinner in the Dining Room (not Teppan) it took over an hour to be served (Chicken Teriyaki dishes with Tempura)! One order of Tempura came out even later, well into us being finished with out dinners (even after several prompts). When we asked for our check, our server took 20 minutes to bring it to us. The most frustrating part about this is that the restaurant was nearly empty.
The ambiance used to be amazing on the Teppan chefs fun with personality. Now there is absolutely none of that the last 4 times we've been. Won't go back with a group, we will go elsewhere for more ambiance. Would recommend more for just a dinner for 2 or for a small family
A gem of a teppan grill restaurant located in Seal Beach. If you like teppan grilling, go with the Kobe Deluxe which nets you a filet minion, a cold water lobster tail, a pound of scallops, a shrimp appetizer, and grilled veggies. All for $49.95! Come hungry, and come somewhat early. Kobe tends to get busy on Friday and Saturday evening meal times.
Try their handcrafted alcohol drinks! We enjoyed having pina coladas while we waited for our place at the teppan grill. The bartenders are kind and know what to suggest for you to get your evening started right!
The wait can be long so make reservations. The service was a little slow and when we asked for something to be omitted in our food they completely forgot.
It was difficult to get drinks so you had to tell your chef.
The food is excellent, fresh and flavorful
We will go again
We had a really good time. We were sat right away and our drinks came quickly.
We thought the food was very good and the waiter nice.
the only problems we did have were we ordered two appraisers but only received one.
I did not notice until I got home that we were charged for both. If I would have looked at the bill sooner i would have said something.
the other problem was my son ordered steak & chicken but only got chicken.
we were not charged for the steak. we were there for his graduation so it was kind of a bummer.
Two immature hostesses made the four of us stand up front for almost 15 min when the restaurant was over half empty. I inquired once about why we couldn't be seated and was told "your server is busy getting drinks for another table," which makes no sense since hostesses should do the seating. Finally their manager arrived up front and asked if we'd been helped. When I said we were waiting for seats, one hostess said rudely "You'll be seated by the time of your 6pm reservation." (We'd arrived early but the restaurant was empty) The manager recognized that as rude and told her to seat us, so she huffed off expecting us to follow. Unbelievably unprofessional. The server was ok but brought shrimp to my husband after we all specifically told her he was allergic (and shrimp wasn't even supposed to come with what he ordered, so I think the chef misread her notes). Food was just OK. The only thing that saved the night was quality time with friends we were eating with.
We live 5 min away but will never return or recommend Kobe to anyone.
Did not have my reservation, and did not really try and find it. We were seated because there was no one else in the restaurant. I believe this place will be shut down soon Most of the food had no flavor, small serving sizes, and the staff did not seem that they were enjoying themselves at all.
Went there because wife had never had Teppan. The food was delicious and in generous
proportions. Wife had to get take-home box. There were 2 Chefs working the Teppan grills on the Wednesday night we were there. The one we had didn't have the "showmanship" that the other chef had but cooked an excellent dinner. Since it was the first experience for the wife, I wish we had gotten the other chef. I would go there again.
My wife and I came for the Teppan lunch. We started with drinks, my wife had the Sterling Merlot and I had a Kirin beer. We ordered the Vegetable Tempura for our appetizer, cooked perfectly For our main course we had The ginger salad, and steamed white rice. We had the grilled chicken, along with hibachi veggies of mushrooms, zucchini, bean sprouts, and onion. The veggies were hot, crispy and very tasty. The chef was entertaining and cooked the food perfectly and recognized us from our last visit. He even remembered that I liked the ginger sauce on my rice.
The server was great and attentive to our needs and special requests. This place is like Benihana's, but a little more reasonable in price.
