Half Baked Hamachi, Chirashi Negi, Jalapeno, Yuzu Kosho
Enjoyed like fondue. Cook your meat and vegetables in a katsubushi (fish broth) with kombu (seaweed). served with gomadare (sesame sauce) and ponzu (citrus soy) for dipping
We love this restaurant. Owner works very hard to ensure all guests are fully cared for, happy and satisfied. Even when short staffed she can be seen doing all the work to find perfection. All dishes are amazing .My favorites are the salmon sunrise roll, the garlic eggplant dish and the rocky mountain roll. I haven't ordered the dinners. but our group of 10 enjoyed everything.
Service was terrible.
The restaurant is very tired and the food is extremely expensive for sub-par non-authentic Japanese.
This was our first and last visit. The staff was nice, but we felt we wasted time and money visiting Kobe An. Do yourself a favor and skip it.
Our first visit to this garden-level restaurant (walk down those steps carefully). The quality and presentation of the food is the highlight of my review. All other aspects of the dining experience were less favorable (shabby, outdated interior, weak cocktails, and unattentive service.
This may be my favorite restaurant for special occasions.
Could use a refresh of decor and space. Reusable sushi menu didn’t work so well.
The service was terrible. I always give the benefit of the doubt…but after 30 min of no one greeting us after getting seated, moved to another table where waited another 15 before some came by, order some and had another server stop by and say she is taking over for our current server who was overwhelmed. After 3 hours of we finally ate and drank but man was it an awful experience.
I made a reservation for 7:30pm but we weren't seated until 8pm. The restaurant was extremely busy and under staffed. It took over 2 1/2 hours to get the two sushi rolls we ordered. The server was mildly apologetic about our wait time but then brought us the wrong check with a $192 bill. Once she returned 15 minutes later we pointed out the error in checks and it took another 20 minutes to get the correct bill. Overall our dining experience lasted 3 1/2 hours and was the most painfully slow service I have ever experienced. While the sushi was good I would not dine at this location again.
Worst service I've ever had. Dinner for 2 took 3.5 hours. We were left in our tea room at the end while they closed the restaurant. Nobody came to run the card so we had to check out in front.
Food and service great even though full dining room. Honored our reservation on time. Free parking after 6 in garage nextdoor. Only issue was no paper or online menues and no holders for chopsticks so I took out my sanitizer after holding the menu. If you want more spacing, go after 8, when dining room cleared out. They also have several tatami rooms just for your party.
My friends and I had made a reservation days in advance and once we were seated, we waited for 45 mins for any service before leaving. Very poor service and won’t be returning.
Super slow service. Shabu shabu was not tasty. Never got our drinks. People walking out because they were tired of waiting.
The worst service we’ve ever had. It wasn’t the waitress fault. The kitchen couldn’t keep up with the orders. Food was tasty but the hours long wait ruined the experience. We won’t be back.
The food was fresh and delicious! The service was impeccable
As always, the place is the best.
We have been going to Cobe An for almost 30 years and highly recommend it.
i think because of covid it wasn't the best service and ambience. we were seated in an area of the restaurant where nobody else was the entire night and we were over looked as a result. didn't see the server for like 10 minutes after being seated. it was decent after but we kinda felt like we were an after thought...by everyone there. food was really, really great. i'd like to go back at some point after covid, hopefully a better experience.
I want to start this by saying that I have worked and managed restaurants for years. Made a 6:30 reservation, walked in Hostess was friendly and promptly sat us at a table in the far corner of the restaurant(pass the sushi bar) because the main room was full. 15 minutes later she returns to ask if waiter had been with us yet which was a no. She got us waters and told us our server will be right over. We were there for sushi and a couple of drinks. We took a look at the cocktail menu and it looked really good. I did notice all the fruit flies in the room therefore decided to do bottled beer instead. When the server finally made it to us we were ready to order so we did. We ordered Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura to start and 4 rolls of sushi. The tempura was in our table within 5-7 minutes. We waited a while for the rolls. We got 3 out of the 4 rolls first. We were done with them before our 4th one arrived to our table. At this point we were there over an hour. We took a bite from that 4th roll and it was so bad we sent it back. At that point we were very over the restaurant. I will NEVER return.
Unfortunately, our food took over an hour to come out. When it did, it was underwhelming. The table next to us didn’t get the correct order and the manager actually argued with them to try to convince them that the order was made adequately. Between the poor service and average food, I do not think we will visit again
Great food, neat experience in the tea room. Server was so nice- a good place with great atmosphere
Great service, food and ambiance. My second time here and can wait to return.
Service was great! Food was amazing! The Tatami room made it authentic Japanese dining! Plum sake martini was exceptional and the warm sake was soothing! Definitely worth every penny!!
we love Kobe Ann! Great food, and great service!
Some fish was not fresh. Twice brought wrong items to table. Never before had a Jalapeno with zero zing. Nothing was special!
Good food and drinks, though the wait for both was a bit long. It was a very busy Friday night so can’t fault them with COVID!
I’m not sure if it was the owner or just a server, but the lady that waited on us gave us nonstop dirty looks and an attitude the entire time. It was probably the rudest service I’ve ever experienced at a restaurant before. Will never go back and that lady should not be working in hospitality.
It was the best Japanese food I have ever had in Denver. It was outstanding! It’s family owned and they are incredible at service and the tea rooms were adorable
This was hands down the worst service that I’ve ever had. The waitress (who was also the greeter) started the evening by letting me know she wouldn’t seat my party together if it were for the size that I literally did the reservation for. She didn’t decline the reservation or call. I had to tell the last person to turn around. We ordered 5 of the exact same margaritas and they were not only different portion sizes, but also different recipes. She literally told someone in my party that it was weird that they didn’t like something, argued with us about silverware, and gave horrible service. Still we tipped quite a bit. I booked the restaurant and was so embarrassed that my friends and I had that experience.
A special thanks to Ryan for seeing to our large party of 10!
We got there at 5:15, wasn’t very busy. Paid an extra five dollars to sit in one of the tea rooms. It was rather chilly in there, food was really good, when we left it was very busy.
I sat at a Tea Table and really enjoyed my experience! The food was tasty and the service was excellent! I’ll definitely return!
This was the worst dining experience I’ve ever had and although they apologized for horrible service it didn’t change substandard service provided
Great place, really made me feel like I was in Japan.
The restaurant has a great atmosphere, the tea rooms are a really nice seating arrangement. We did have a couple with a toddler next to ours(the restaurant was pretty empty at the time), not much of a big deal to us, but I could understand why other people might be bothered by a crying child. Food was good, service was friendly.
Very friendly staff and excellent food in a nice location in Cherry Creek. The food was excellent - particularly the Tempura and Sukiyaki(cooked at the table). Very good value for the quality - the Sushi was very fresh and excellent quality. Would definitely recommend it. This was our first time and will be returning soon.
Our server was excellent! The food delicious, get the Bronco roll!!
This place never fails to impress. Always great food and service
Always a wonderful experience. The owner is an amazing woman and always makes sure customers are taken care of.
Good ambiance...could use some updating. The food was just okay. Our server was good.
Kobe An was great when it was in a food court downtown, great when it was in Lakewood, and it's still great. Have always loved the yakisoba. Highly recommended.
