Kō at Fairmont Kea Lani Ratings and Reviews
I am torn on my review for this hotel based restaurant. The service is excellent on attentiveness and the entire wait staff pitching in. The food was not as good as you would expect for the price. There were three in our party that tried the daily catch (Mong Chong) prepared different ways. None of us were thrilled with the selections. They were by no means terrible but not spectacular.
Great place to celebrate a special occasion or just our for a great meal. Food choices were excellent and preparation was unique. Service was excellent with just the perfect amount of time to visit between orders/ decisions. Ambiance were very tropical as one would expect
This is a restaurant with very good food but very poor service. We arrived on time and were seated and provided menus, a wine list and water. Our server then disappeared for 30 minutes at which time I had to go to the hostess stand to request that she return so that we could order drinks. We did so, and it took about 10 minutes to bring the mixed drinks. We had also ordered a bottle of wine, and it was not brought with the mixed drinks- after another 10 minutes we asked and she finally brought the wine.
The food itself was very good (my fish) and excellent (my companion's salad). The setting is beautiful but I would not return unless the service issues are resolved. As it is there are too many other restaurants in the area with comparable food and far better service.
Our server was Leanne P. She was in such a good mood from the time she greeted us until the time she told us goodbye. Her mood was so contagious on our entire night. She made sure we were happy the entire time. The food was exceptional. We started out with the Ahi On The Rock You Sear It- AMAZING. My husband went with the Venison and I had the Lamb! It was absolutely amazing. We got the vanilla bean brulee and key lime pie. The service made the experience so enjoyable. We couldn't think of a single complaint if our lives depended on it.
The night I went to Ko I was a bit disappointed. It took 30 mins to get my appetizer of goat cheese fritters & when they arrived they weren’t warm. My next dish was a shrimp stew. The flavours and broth were delicious BUT the shrimp were over cooked and totally tough. I have usually had great food at lunch at KO and quick service. Something seemed wrong that night.
Let me just start off by saying that everything from beginning to end was amazing. Our waitress (Selina R.) was OUTSTANDING! She made our first time dining experience there one that we will never forget.
Ko has been added to my top favorite places to dine on Maui. For starters, we had the Oishi sushi, Ahi rock ( you sear your own Ahi on a hot rock- So fun and very delish) and honey shrimp. All recommended by our waitress and all very yummy!
For entree's we had the paniolo rib eye, zarzuela (seafood soup), lamb chops and chicken. No complaints!
Combine locally-sourced food, with an exceptional setting and outstanding service, what you have is a memorable dining experience. Our waitress was Hannah, who was personable, knowledgeable about the menu, and added great insight when asked on other topics. I'd definitely recommend Ko.
We had our last meal of our honeymoon here and it was the perfect finish to an amazing vacation. Our server (I believe his name was Drew) was on point with his recommendations. Everything we ate was so flavorful and not salty at all. You could really taste the different ingredients. My only complaint would be the key like pie was very dense and I prefer a light and airy key lime. Overall it was a great dining experience.
Food was below average for the price. Had 9 people with our party, 7 of them didn't finish their food and they were hungry...the other 2, one was a 3 year old and the other was myself, I don waste food regardless of taste. I also don't leave reviews but I the food was so uneventful I wouldn't want anyon else to go through that experience.
Finally made it to Ko in the Fairmont Kea Lani. Great place for locals because their Kamaaina deal is one of the best. Buy one, get one on appetizers and entrees. The food was outstanding. My husband is on a restricted diet so we ordered primarily off the wellness menu. We had the Spicy Thai Coconut Curry, Tempeh Fried Rice, the Soondubu Jjigae, and the special which was fresh caught fish, scallops and shrimp with wasabe mashed potatoes. Big portions so took a lot home. Doesn't have much of a view but dining al fresco anywhere here is delightful and our server was friendly and helpful. We will return.
We have eaten at many high end restaurants in Hawaii and were very excited to try this restaurant on our final night of vacation in Maui. Our cocktails and appetizers were enjoyable, but when it came to the main course - we each opted for the special of the evening: sea bass with shrimp and scallops in a coconut broth. Unfortunately, all three main courses were very overdone - the bass was borderline chewy to the point that I questioned whether this was another type of fish! The shrimp and scallops were similarly tough. After graciously offering to recook our order, we encountered similarly overcooked seafood on round 2. I would not expect this from such an establishment, with average main courses $45-$50. Highly disappointing dining experience.
