Ugh. Thankfully this was a gift certificate and I wasn't out a huge amount of money, but oh my. Save your money, save your time. This is obviously a restaurant with so much hype it takes weeks to get a table. If you like smelling like bacon at the end of an evening, having poor service - no bread service, or other services, poor food- this is your place. However, if you want a pleasant dining experience, with good service and outstanding food - don't go here.
The 240 day old dry aged ribeye was outstanding! I highly recommend it to all meat eaters.
Good steak and burgers the pasta was really good the bacon tasting was amazing. Try the tomato salad amazing. Meat was actually very good and cooked to order
The restaurant was very nice, some of our steaks were not cooked right the first time, sides were lackluster for the $, though we loved the desserts.
Great ambiance. Complimentary valet parking. Fancy ambiance with enough lighting to set a romantic mood. Did not have to tell during conversation. Had choice of watching chef make the meal. Steak was succulent, delicious and moderate portions as well. Very very outstanding service by Alberto who provided great guidance as well.
We really enjoyed our visit, food was great, service was fantastic. We came for my husband's birthday and we were not disappointed!
We were seated in timely fashion on a Wednesday night before the restaurant appeared to be full. Bacon jam sliders and yellowtail with grapefruit were the highlights of the meal. There was a long stretch of time, perhaps 25-30 minutes, before our entrees were delivered (The Magic and The Tail End). My wife was sleepy by time our sandwiches arrived. The servers themselves were friendly, but I would expect quicker service in the future.
The service at Knife was excellent - attentive and friendly. But no amount of effort on the part of waiter seemed to shorten the more than one hour wait time from order to serving the selections. On arrival, the steaks were still undercooked relative to the order. The quality of the steaks was fine, but hardly excellent and not nearly good enough tI justify the delay
The Sommelier was exceptional. Knew the impressive and extensive wine list, and quite knowledgeable. But by the time the main courses showed up, we’d consumed half the wine.
All in all, some high points to the evening, but mostly a largely forgettable mediocre experience.
No. No. No. Much better choices. Today was our 30th anniversary and I made reservations a few weeks ago for 7:00. We showed up on time and were advised the table wasn't quite ready and we'd have to wait a couple of minutes. While we were waiting, WHILE WE WERE WAITING, two people were seated, and then three. We waited twenty minutes past our reservation. Comped a glass of champagne and an appetizer. If there were specials, we never heard about them. My wife had to send her steak back; mine was fine. The sides were fine. The dessert was fine. Our server did a very nice job. All in all though, a disappointment. Better places to spend your money. Won't go back. Probably the absolute worst hostess tandem I've ever experienced. Ever. Don't go here.
Meal so good that our appetizers, including Bacon (yes, bacon!) Flight, were eaten before I could get pics ... Beef Tartare in the style of 21, Skirt Steak (excellent Chimichurri), Short Rib --all outstanding. Sommelier Ben and staff were delightful!
Waitress would not serve us what we wanted.... lobster... told us it was bad... then said they did not have it..... We saw other table with it.... Horrible experience ... will NEVER go back!
Outstanding menu and steal selections, staff is fantastic and a nice atmosphere
Nice restaurant with exellent food amd good service.
The ambiance is made for romantic or business dinner, not much noisy but moderate
I had their wagyu beef(from Usa ranch) and it was delicious
It’s no secret that John Tesar is a phenomenal chef and above all else knows steak. The meat at Knife is well sourced, well prepared and stored. That being said, the restaurant lacks the decor and ambiance to enhance the overall experience. Even simple things like adding linen to the tables would be welcome, especially in Texas where drinks without table linen collect significant moisture. Fine dining is about the experience and with so many options for fine dining in Dallas, I’d categorize Knife as more of a place to get together with the fellas to eat good meat, than a place to have a romantic evening with your special someone. One of the best cheese board/appetizers in the city. On the desserts side, we both prefer chocolate although our waitress somehow convinced us to order a new banana dessert. While it was visually appealing from a plating perspective only the ice cream had any real banana flavor and it was very slight. Note to self, stick with chocolate. Knife prices don't match the overall experience.
The "new school" section of the menu is unbelievable! The sous vide short rib is one of the best main dishes I've ever eaten.
Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable, and put up with all of our odd questions about things like what kind of oysters they had (3 types), and what temperature the rib was sous vide at.
I took my son and Mom to lunch/brunch on Easter Sunday wasn’t even a dessert menu. It was so flat. So when we left we went to La Madeleines. I could have gone somewhere else for 1/2 the price and enjoyed it!
We decided to dine at Knife to celebrate my son's belated birthday and the Easter holiday weekend. It was our first time dining at Knife. Jessica was our server. She was phenomenal! From the complimentary crudites and to the artisan birthday dessert to the 24-ox ribeye that my son ordered, everything was amazing! We look forward to our next visit!
Everything was mediocre and not worth the price. The service was good, but again there is no reason to spend that much money for sub par experience.
Our waiter , older gentleman from Mexico ( I forgot is name ) was absolutely amaZing. He was genuine, professional and recommended to perfection. The place itself is nice, staff very professional as well and the food . The food was delicious ! We had bacon tasting , the homemade bread, the rib eye all just so tasteful . This place is attentive and well run and clean , and is more than a restaurant but an experience ! We highly recommend if you like good vibes and good food !
I really have only one quibble with my experience at Knife--I sprung for a high end bottle of wine (Sine Qua Non's Stock @ $325), but was surprised that it was not kept at serving temperature. The restaurant has a great wine list, and it's a shame that a wine of this caliber wasn't being properly stored. Other than that, the experience was all aces - and I'd absolutely recommend it to meat eating foodies and wine lovers.
Overall over rated
We took some friends from out of town and it was lovely. Nice and cozy, with an excellent knowledgable staff, Knife is one of Dallas's great steak houses. It's upscale and while has traditional menu fare, there's a contemporary twist to each. While the beef is obviously the star, nothing on the menu is left behind. From the crudités at the beginning of the meal, to the ridiculously delicious bread to that mac and cheese to the gratis dessert, Knife is a poetic meal from beginning to end.
Overall had a nice evening, but there was a lot to be desired. My biggest gripe comes from a server that really has no place being a server. She lacked any sort of script in addressing us, she came off as awkward and nervous. We asked for a drink menu, she claimed she gave us one but had not, my father ordered oysters and one of them was off, we did not receive any apology for it, but she did replace it with 2 oysters. When we got the bill, we gave her a credit card, apparently she did not run it or run it correctly as we received a phone call about 10 minutes after leaving that our bill had not been paid (the bill has a tip line and signage section I suppose for hotel guests, which we filled out, not realizing she brought back the credit card without running it). The sommelier was great, really nice, personable, and extremely knowledgeable. I found the steaks to be unremarkable, we got a long winded explanation on how special the beef is and where its from and how the cows are treated, but I did not find it to be special in any way.
Our server tried to compare it to Kobe, and clearly again her lack of knowledge and experience would easily say that Kobe does not belong in this discussion as the meat was so far away from that level. We got the Akaushi filet and 45day dry aged ribeye. The ribeye was not in the sous vide long enough, the connective tissue was tough and made it difficult to eat the actual meat. Also, if I had known they just sous vide the meat, I would not have come, I can sous vide a steak just fine at home and be happier with the results. With dozens of amazing steakhouses in Dallas, I will not be returning to Knife. I very much wanted to love the experience, but this was not a $700 meal and that's what we ended up spending. I will not be returning.
Amazing played in service! Thank you
Great experience! Great atmosphere and excellent service! We will definitely be back.
Knife was absolutely amazing. Truly the best steak I’ve ever eaten, and the sides - just blown away. The service was impeccable and if you enjoy wine, let Ben take care of you. He recommended some amazing wines and took fantastic care of us. Shout out to the kitchen for everything as well - cannot wait to visit again!
One of our favorite Dallas spots! We made a spa date for Exhale and stayed at the Highlands hotel as a 2 day get away along with Knife as an escape from work. The first night we had the 44 10 oz Fillets that were wonderful paired with the cauliflower, as were the creamed spinach. Their chocolate coffee dessert is tasty. On night two after yoga and massages next door we opted for lighter fare and started with a salad and had the King Salmon, which was prepared perfectly. The next morning swung by for breakfast, and if you are a Hilton Gold member or above you get a $15 food credit per stay per person so breakfast was nearly free. The breakfast sandwich is yummy, as were the eggs, and smoked bacon.
It was simple excellent. From the bacon jam, Mac and Cheese the steak and desserts it was the best steak I have every had
Knife was wonderful! We went for our anniversary. The food was spectacular and the wait staff was as fantastic. We'd definitely go again!
Went here for my boyfriend's birthday dinner. Overall this meal has been one of the best we have had in Dallas. The service and food were absolutely amazing! We started with the bacon sampler (would highly recommend the bacon jam on a pretzel roll, it is to die for)! I had the salmon and cauliflower puree for my main course and loved every last bite (the puree was very creamy and the salmon was cooked perfectly with a crispy top layer). We ended the night sharing the coffee assorted desserts (this included coffee ice cream, milk chocolate frosting and mini brownie bites with a caramel drizzle). To make the night even better they sent us home with homemade muffins!!!
I would recommend this to anyone who is having a special occasion dinner, I was blown away by everything and really appreciate all of the details that went into the night!
Could have used a better explanation of the menu from our server
If you are a steak foodie... then this is the place. But if you are not into steak... this is not the place. Have been twice in last year-- steak eaters love it-- non-steak entrees are mediocre at best.
Way too expensive. More than double what it should cost
This place was wonderful. Everyone was really nice. The food was amazing. The prices were actually better than I had expected. Overall great! I’ll definitely be going back.
We were underwhelmed. We went out for a nice dinner with the family, and ended up spending 3 hours at the restaurant. Way too long for a dinner! The food was actually overpriced for the quality. I think they up-charged just because the plating was pretty. We won't be going back.
Service and food was amazing. Great for a special occasion. Our waiter was so knowledgable about the menu and very helpful. I would definitely recommend getting the filet mignon.
My husband and I went for our 11th Anniversary for a lunch date. They are wonderful and gave us a free Anniversary dessert with a cappuccino. Great service. You must try the avacodo fries as well. They are amazing.
