One of our favorite Dallas spots! We made a spa date for Exhale and stayed at the Highlands hotel as a 2 day get away along with Knife as an escape from work. The first night we had the 44 10 oz Fillets that were wonderful paired with the cauliflower, as were the creamed spinach. Their chocolate coffee dessert is tasty. On night two after yoga and massages next door we opted for lighter fare and started with a salad and had the King Salmon, which was prepared perfectly. The next morning swung by for breakfast, and if you are a Hilton Gold member or above you get a $15 food credit per stay per person so breakfast was nearly free. The breakfast sandwich is yummy, as were the eggs, and smoked bacon.
It was simple excellent. From the bacon jam, Mac and Cheese the steak and desserts it was the best steak I have every had
Knife was wonderful! We went for our anniversary. The food was spectacular and the wait staff was as fantastic. We'd definitely go again!
Went here for my boyfriend's birthday dinner. Overall this meal has been one of the best we have had in Dallas. The service and food were absolutely amazing! We started with the bacon sampler (would highly recommend the bacon jam on a pretzel roll, it is to die for)! I had the salmon and cauliflower puree for my main course and loved every last bite (the puree was very creamy and the salmon was cooked perfectly with a crispy top layer). We ended the night sharing the coffee assorted desserts (this included coffee ice cream, milk chocolate frosting and mini brownie bites with a caramel drizzle). To make the night even better they sent us home with homemade muffins!!!
I would recommend this to anyone who is having a special occasion dinner, I was blown away by everything and really appreciate all of the details that went into the night!
Could have used a better explanation of the menu from our server
If you are a steak foodie... then this is the place. But if you are not into steak... this is not the place. Have been twice in last year-- steak eaters love it-- non-steak entrees are mediocre at best.
Way too expensive. More than double what it should cost
This place was wonderful. Everyone was really nice. The food was amazing. The prices were actually better than I had expected. Overall great! I’ll definitely be going back.
We were underwhelmed. We went out for a nice dinner with the family, and ended up spending 3 hours at the restaurant. Way too long for a dinner! The food was actually overpriced for the quality. I think they up-charged just because the plating was pretty. We won't be going back.
Service and food was amazing. Great for a special occasion. Our waiter was so knowledgable about the menu and very helpful. I would definitely recommend getting the filet mignon.
My husband and I went for our 11th Anniversary for a lunch date. They are wonderful and gave us a free Anniversary dessert with a cappuccino. Great service. You must try the avacodo fries as well. They are amazing.
One of the best steakhouses in the US. John Tesar is a genius.
Was very excited to visit, really like the lay out of the restaurant. The bar was vibrant. I’d love to eat at bar next time. Knew I was going to go for the longest dry age available that day (45 was only available a little disappointed but come on). I settled for the bone in 38 oz monster. Was prepared perfectly. Not over seasoned allowing the flavor of the meat to show. Onion rings was killer, Brussel sprouts fresh. And truffle fries interesting (like a sour cream flavor to them.) My guest has the petit filet said it was great and prepared just as requested.
Both had dessert. To be honest was my least favorite thing of the night. Felt more French in style meaning lighter and not very sweet. Which was fine as I was pretty full. This is the longest review I wrote so really enjoyed my trip. Hoping for 240 or some Akushi next trip .
Food was good but poor service. Our waiter seemed to be rushing us and then seemed to be distracted and inattentive
We arrived about 20 minutes early for our reservation, but the hostess was able to seat us within just a few minutes anyway. Our server was friendly, but did not offer to explain. The menu. The iPad based wine list was a nice gimmick, but poorly executed in that the descriptions given for the wines did not describe the wine itself, but were stories by or about the winemakers - not particularly helpful in choosing a wine. We wound up selecting the cheapest Pinot noir, which was a fine-tasting wine, but still pricey at $48 a bottle.
We stuck to entrees, one side, and dessert. I had a 24-oz bone-in ribeye, which was well-seasoned and nicely prepared, and my wife had the oxtail ravioli, which she was warned contained chicken livers - apparently some diners were sending it back when they figured this out after tasting. We both enjoyed our entrees very much, though I personally am confused by the need to sell such huge steaks. Maybe they’re meant to share?
Our side, the roasted bussels sprouts and cauliflower (more cauliflower than sprouts by far, though the sprouts got top billing) were okay, though more salty than they should have been. The dessert we chose, passion fruit sorbet and chocolate-macadamia panda cotta with crumbs and dollops, was very good.
Short rib was way too salty.
Excellent burgers, but you need to serve the onion rings during lunch! The fries just are not good.
Call ahead to verify the 240 day dry aged steak is available. Great service every time I dine here, go dry aged , go lobster , and go a little early to enjoy some great craft cocktails
Overall, 4.5 stars. Excellent service & pleasant aesthetics. Food good, but not amazing for the price. Quality wine selection. Recommend the yellowtail & bacon tasting apps. For those who can eat gluten, the bread basket offered great selection. Tasty steaks & lovely desserts. Not life changing, but will recommend & return.
Outstanding in every way - superb steak and pasta - sides were awesome - desert was so
much better than I thought it would be - service was great - will come back soon!!
Everything from the time we walked in until the time we left was excellent. The steaks were outstanding. The service was exceptional. Highly recommend!
Clearly a marketing package for the chef. They should begin by being a lot more fastidious with the hostess. At this price point and "image", the first person one meets should have more command of the job. The layout of the restaurant is a glorified Denny's. And restaurants trying to "upsell" yet another wedge salad is aggravating. It wasn't even remarkable either for $15. Again, this is iceberg lettuce. The waitstaff were wonderful, however. And the food was indeed good although the sweetness in the sauce for special filet was surprising. Not a great thing for a savory dish. This is a place to go when you have to because someone invited you and is paying for you.
Great in every way
One of the best
We came up for a date night one Sunday. It was absolutely fantastic. As a chef myself I could tell the care and quality of the service and food. We seriously appreciate a restaurant like yours.
Food was great and service exceptional!
We had a great overall experience at Knife with both phenomenal service and food. From the cocktails at the bar prior to dinner to the bottles of wine recommended from the som to the after dinner drinks and dessert it was all worth it. The steak and sides are mouth watering and cooked to perfection. Try the filet & or Smokey skirt steak with the okra and mushrooms. Yum!
Best restaurant experience we’ve had in Dallas. The food was incredible and actually a great value for what we paid. Service was amazing too. This is now our go-to date spot!
We were there for a Saturday lunch. Food was good, but the kitchen was having a bit of a problem that spilled onto the diners. I never thought that service interferred with food; however, in this case, it did. Food was good, but service and the kitchen staff made the experience miserable. The manager was magnificent; however, he could never overcome the childish behavior of the kitchen staff and the lack of service of the server. Too bad, we wanted to love this restaurant.
A great place for celebrating my son's 18th birthday. The food, atmosphere and service was wonderful!
Food and service were great but the ventilation system in this place needs an overhaul. We came home smelling like bacon and grill smoke.
Very disappointed - burgers were way over done and it took forever. Service was so-so and the place was practically empty. Ate dinner here about a year or so ago and it was very good - lunch was terrible
Our server, Alberto, was so professional yet still friendly. They took very good care of us!
The experience was mostly inconsistent.
We plan to return to check out the rest of the menu and give things another try.
I made my reservation 2 weeks in advance. Was told only times were 5:30 or 11. I chose 5:30 but called each day to see if something opened at a more reasonable time. Even had American Express Platinum concierge service call, but to no avail. Showed up at 5:30 and THE PLACE WAS EMPTY!!!
I told the “greeter” that I had tried for 2 weeks to change the time but was consistently told nothing was available. He said the tables were all spoken for and they would be filling up soon.
I watched. It did not fill up. By the time we left at 7:15, there will still four or five tables empty that could have accommodated our party.
Service was fair. Food was good, but other steak places as good and far more accommodating.
In town visiting both my boys who attend SMU and also celebrating my Dads 80th birthday, who was in town from Atlanta with my mother and friends.
Knife was delicious convenient, as staying at The Highland , flexible with accommodating delayed flights etc . A wonderful dinner, Jeff was a fantastic, engaging, informative waiter, and the evening was perfect.
Knife never disappoints! Tip top all around. 5 Stars!!!!
We made reservations before we came into town from Kansas. My SO was very excited to try a dry aged steak. I got the roasted chicken. My chicken was NOT worth the 60 minute wait, and his steak was absolutely not worth the anticipation or price. We loved the bacon sampler we got as an appetizer. It wasn’t worth our $213 ticket at all. Very disappointed, and wish we would’ve left it at the Dallas steak we had Friday evening. But, my SO had anticipated having “the best steak of his life”. We both agreed we should’ve went to Joes Crabshack like I wanted to. Our waitress was amazing though! We visited 2/3/18 around 6pm
Service was impeccable (Roberto) as it has been every time we have visited. Food is delicious and all the little extras make it a great experience.
Steak house? No it’s more it’s a temple to the art of meat. Bacon plate, YES. DIE for bacon jam. Steaks from old and new school you can’t get it wrong.. wow a friend, loved one or business associates. You need meat like this, you need it!
