About Knickerbocker Bar and Grill
"The place where New Yorkers eat"
Knickerbocker is known for its great Jazz and its 28 oz. T- Bone Steaks and is a favorite among many celebrities including F. Murray Abraham, Chris Noth and Alec Baldwin. Racheal Ray listed us in her "NYC Favorites" and has praised our Shrimp Cocktail, Creamed Spinach, and of course our T- Bone Steaks.
The word "Knickerbocker" itself, says "New York". Upon entering, you’ll know you're in the Village. Its wood paneled walls sport rare turn of the century posters and original caricatures by Al Hirschfield. Large leather booths line the walls and brass rails accent the 100 year old marble bar, where Charles Lindbergh signed his Trans Atlantic contract.
We have survived the times by using the freshest ingredients from local markets, and offering good solid value and quality. We serve until late (weekends 1:00 AM) and offer a Bistro Menu with lighter fare.
We offer Brunch on the Weekends, and are open on all Holidays.

Knickerbocker has had "Live Jazz" since the days when the village had "Live Jazz". Harry Connick Jr. got his start here, back in the late 80"s. Names like Junior Mance, Bucky Pizzarelli and Ben Wolf now show up on our schedule.
We have live jazz on Friday & Saturday nights, starting at 9:45pm till 2:00am. There is a small $3.50 cover charge at the tables after 10:15 pm, or just stop in at the bar for a drink, with no cover.
We can cater a party to fit your needs.
Parking on the street is usually easy to find. The meters finish at 7:00pm, and the other street parking is available after 6:00pm. There are parking lots on the approach to the restaurant on 9th street or 8th street.
The 6 train at Astor place, or the R & N to 8th street are just a block away. Other stations like Union Square & West 4th street are just a short walk away and have most train lines.

Knickerbocker Bar and Grill Ratings and Reviews
The food we enjoyed at the Knickerbocker bar & Grill was one of the best meals we had while on holiday in New York. I am a chef and feel I have a very high standard when it comes to eating out and I found all the dishes that I tasted with my family were exceptionally good as was the service.
The atmosphere was very pleasant and my 13 year old daughter also thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful jazz pianist, Russ Kassoff.
Whenever we can, we meet friends at The Knickerbocker for a holiday meal. The staff are attentive and thoughtful! We misremembered our reservation time & they called, then accommodated us. They sat us at a treasured booth. Very unusual. The ambiance is Old New York, it's festive, and the food lovely. I do love the chocolae soufflé, although 3 of us shared it instead of 2, because we had eaten so much else. This is the place to go in NYC!
The food, service and ambiance were exceptional and our waitress, Diane, was wonderful and truly concerned that everything was good for us. We sat near the piano and base player and were still able to have a easy conversation while still enjoying the wonderful music.
Restaurant recommended by a friend who loved the T-bone but his last dining there was years ago. He really wanted us to try it out while we were in New York, so we did on a Sunday evening. Cosmo came out tasting like syrup and sent back and the fixed drink was not much better. So off to a rough start, then our waiter who only had a few weeks of experience there kept with mishaps all night with surrounding tables which added a little uneasiness to the night. The caviar pie was pretty amazing and the T-bone met the rave. Overall the food was very nice, but probably would not go back just because it had the feel of a declining restaurant, rather than a rising one.
We've been eating at Knick for over 30 years and it hasn't changed in providing quality food in a great atmosphere and served by professionals. We almost always have the steak for 2 but the last 2xs we had the ribs and shrimp scampi and both were great. The raw bar is exceptional as an app. Ad don't forget dessert....chocolate soufflé is delish. Can't wait for our next visit!
We met our friends for dinner on a very crowded Saturday night. Our reservation was honored almost immediately and we were seated in a comfortable booth. The ambiance, service, food and value were all great. I like going to Knickerbocker because I don’t have to scream at my companions in order to be heard, but it’s still a festive and fun atmosphere. We’ll be back, for sure.
made a reservation for 8:00 pm and when I got there the place was packed and I was told that I'd have to wait, as they overbooked the seating which was surprising and very disappointing.
When we sat down and the table was not set and the food was disappointingly average at best.
The atmosphere is warm and inviting and the bar is nice but small.
Overall it is a very nice restaurant but it seems that I caught them on a bad night.
We picked this restaurant as somewhere to get a steak whilst we were staying in Greenwich Village. I made a mistake and didn't pick the fillet minion! Great wholesome food. Good ambience. What made our trip worthwhile was our server, Brianny. Great lady with a sense of humour and a good people person. I would employ her !
