One of my favorite NYC places. Ive been going here for many years.
Celebrated NYU graduation. Corn bread was delicious. Beer salad was amazing. Chicken pot pie was to die for. My husband and others had the filet and commented five times the next day that it was cooked perfectly, delicious and very tender. Outstanding meal. Sorry I didn’t have room for dessert!
Always pleasant to come here. It's unpretentious, the food is very good, the wait staff are long-term, thoroughly pleasant, & friendly. If you require Trumpian appurtenances of luxury, this place is not for you. If you're a normal human, I recommend it unhesitatingly.
Have been to Knickerbocker many times for brunch and for dinner. It never disappoints. Our lunch was excellent with many choices. Some of us had eggs and others had fish. All dishes were very good. The service is always excellent. I'm sure I will be back again soon.
Great establishment that has been around for years. It is good to know that there are still places once can go that is familiar and has been around.
Staff is friendly and efficient, food consistently excellent and prices can't be beat.
One of few places where they still serve you bread and not charge you. :-)
I have been going to the Knickerbocker regularly for years and love it!
Old school menu, great steak, oysters, bread and bar.
Cozy with good acoustics so you can actually converse with your friends.
Love, love love it!!!!
This is a definitial Greenwich Village eatery, great for drinks, lunch, or dinner, impervious to the passing fads and trendiness. Porterhouse vies with that of the great New York steakhouses, such as Gallagher’s and Keen’s. But lighter fare including salads and sandwiches are top notch too. Service is attentive. Bartenders know their craft. Mid century aesthetic is the real deal, not an interior designer’s mock-up with Al Hirschfeld drawings and original Broadway theatre posters.
Good food and still reasonable for lunch though the prices have gone up a bit on the steak frite, The service is excellent. Attentive but not overwheming.
Had eaten at the Knickerbocker about 15 years ago and had a great filet mignon. It was nice to find that the food & service hasn’t changed. Top notch neighborhood restaurant.
Staff was very attentive, friendly, made for an very enoyable evening. Live Jazz at night.
I will go back.
Overall great meal for dinner (if I stuck to my usual favorites such as the T-bone steak and souffle for two). Seated promptly with our reservation and we started off with two appetizers this time. The grilled octopus was overly done and the country fried chicken came out very dry. Other menu items such as the caviar pie and bbq ribs were on point and delicious. The amount of caviar varies depending on the preparer and the day of the week.
Hadn’t been for a while, nice to see this neighborhood fave is still reliable. I’ll be back again soon!
I wasn’t pleased with the salmon dish. Lacked taste.
Fantastic as usual.
Decent food and nice ambiance with very good live music.
We love it here. We come every week. Consistent good food and atmosphere. Great martinis.
I met my good friend for dinner here. We had a good time. You can never go wrong, the food is always good and this is consistent.
Amazing steak and ambiance.
I've enjoyed both business and personal dining at the Knickerbocker for more than 20 years; it continues to be a great place to join business associates or friends. Keep up the good work!
It's been a great pleasure discover this Grill, we enjoyed a fantastic T-BONE for 3 peoples, so tasteful and tender. A great experience in New York. I love New York and I love the Knickerbocker Bar and Grill.
I have lived in this neighborhood for over 20 years and am disappointed to see that the food and service at The Knickerbocker has declined to this extent. Service was rushed; servers kept bumping into our chairs; our simple food was only fair and barely warm.
We were warmly welcomed by the host who promptly seated us. Our server was phenominal without over doing it. The food was a bit underwhelming and average at best. The menu choices are broadly appealing but the execution of the food needs some help.
We had a very good meal here. Good price value
We were three and all got the t-bone steak, my only issue is that I didn’t know thar they cut the steak for you. I don’t understand why they do that, also mine was clearly cut too soon so there was a lot of juice on my plate. My medium rare was definitely more of a medium but my companion’s got theirs right.
I would recommend this place.
If I come here again I’ll definitely ask them not to cut my steak (and I’ll skip the creamed spinach too)
The Knick is a NYC institution, a Greenwich Village mainstay, and a neighborhood gem. We come here almost weekly for everything from a casual couples date, a big family dinner, a weekend brunch, or just to grab cocktails at the bar. It's a crowd-pleaser of a restaurant. They stick to classic American dishes and their execution is perfect. It's exactly what a great neighborhood restaurant should be: a place to get a good martini and a good burger, steak, fish, fries, and some oysters. And, by the way, it's one of the few places in NYC where you can still get a REAL chocolate souffle.
I HAVE EATEN HERE MANY TIMES AND HAVE ALWAYS ENJOYED IT. THIS TIME, I FOUND THE RESTAURANT EXTREMELY CROWDED, TERRIBLY DIFFICULT TO SIT DOWN AT MY TABLE AND TO GET UP FROM. I DO NOT KNOW IF THEY PUT IN MORE TABLES THAN USUAL BUT UNPLEASANT.
THE FOOD, AS ALWAYS, WAS VERY GOOD, NOISE LEVEL SEEMED HIGHER THEN USUAL. THE WAITRESS SEEMED VERY FORGETFUL BUT I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT THERE WERE A SUFFICIENT NUMBER OF SERERS
Classy place and the T-bone is REALLY good.
Great for family or friends get together. A gracious waitress, excellent service, great food and live music made it memorable. Why do anywhere else!
I brought my parents there for their first time in 30 years and they were just as impressed. It's very rare that a restaurant maintains quality over such a period.
I've been to Knickerbocker so many times I am running our of superlatives. The steaks are as good as anywhere in NYC for less money. ALL the other food we had including the Scallops were just perfect. Sides were great (truffle bleu cheese fries -OMG), chocolate soufflé was insanely good, Erin is the best server, very attentive and bubbly and just fun. I love this place and anyone who lives in the neighborhood knows that you don't last 40+ years with the following they have without being a top notch restaurant.
We went for an indulgence, a hamburger at lunch. The hamburger was excellent, equal to the indulgence and having it at Knickerbocker made it even more wonderful. A treasure.
Food consistently good. Tbone for 2 was delicious and price similar to others for steak but nice that sides are included.
The place was outstanding, food service and price. Will return soon.
I’ve been going to Knickerbocker for over 30 years and still is one of the best restaurant s in Manhattan!!!
I've dined at Knickerbockers for over 30 years, enjoying it each time over these many years. It's located in my old neighborhood and I return as if I'm still living in the area. It's one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants.
Food here is too often mediocre. Even Bloody Mary mix was off.
Service was terrific, food excellent, and they make a great Bloody Mary
Was disappointed in the availability of varied wine, Limited and not top quality of what they did have. Service was friendly and prompt - tho it wasn't very busy. Will eat there again.
The “famous” T bone steaks were terrible. But the worst part is that a large waitress (not ours) tripped over my 6 year old son and yelled angrily, after she was rude to all the other waitresses, too. Never ever again.
