"The place where New Yorkers eat"
Knickerbocker is known for its great Jazz and its 28 oz. T- Bone Steaks and is a favorite among many celebrities including F. Murray Abraham, Chris Noth and Alec Baldwin. Racheal Ray listed us in her "NYC Favorites" and has praised our Shrimp Cocktail, Creamed Spinach, and of course our T- Bone Steaks.
The word "Knickerbocker" itself, says "New York". Upon entering, you’ll know you're in the Village. Its wood paneled walls sport rare turn of the century posters and original caricatures by Al Hirschfield. Large leather booths line the walls and brass rails accent the 100 year old marble bar, where Charles Lindbergh signed his Trans Atlantic contract.
We have survived the times by using the freshest ingredients from local markets, and offering good solid value and quality. We serve until late (weekends 1:00 AM) and offer a Bistro Menu with lighter fare.
We offer Brunch on the Weekends, and are open on all Holidays.

We have been customers for over 30 years! There have been very few issues all these years but the most recent reservation will be our last! Even though it was Fathers Day, there Restaurant was not crazy busy with guests waiting for table.
We sat at our table and waited over 10 minutes for waitress to bring menu’s after we asked.
Two entree’s came out, were ordered medium rare and they were very rare. Only one went back. The grill chef just threw entire plate with all accompaniments under grill and sent back out! This was an expensive cut of veal chop and it was rude, unprofessional and arrogant on grill chef’s part to do that! My husband got up and had conversation with manager and he was upset with grill chef. We told them we were not paying for it and he agreed. We couldn’t get out of there quicker. We are appreciative of the action by the manager but will never return.

This was a fun throwback to old school NYC. They still put a great meal on the table for a good price. It is casual and a little noisy - but that is part of the charm. The caviar pie was a hit but the lamb tenderloin flat bed was the surprise hit of the night!

Very comfortable neighborhood restaurant.. in operation at this location for decades .. excellent food, attentive service, club like ambiance, cooperative attitude, can accommodate a wheelchair, cane, rotator or walker.. all on one floor, no steps inside or at entrance.. good choice for multi generational gatherings.. or getting together with friends..menu can accommodate most tastes and diets, live music late at night.. Hirschfeld caricatures on the walls..

We have loved Knickerbockers for many years & go there whenever we are in the city. We celebrated our anniversary there last Tuesday. Everything was wonderful from the friendly, professional staff to the food. My husband had the octopus & I had the crab cake for appetizers. We split the beet salad the each had a Filet Mignon. Everything was delicious & cooked perfectly.
We will definitely come back!

Very pleasant, as always. Went with a friend for lunch. He had an excellent hamburger, really good. I had a nicoise salad which was quite tasty, but presented with creative interpretations I could have done without. Its a matter of taste. Service was very good. The room is always wonderful.

Celebrated NYU graduation. Corn bread was delicious. Beer salad was amazing. Chicken pot pie was to die for. My husband and others had the filet and commented five times the next day that it was cooked perfectly, delicious and very tender. Outstanding meal. Sorry I didn’t have room for dessert!

In a city where far too many old-school, classic New York restaurants have closed, Knickerbocker is a gem of a rare find. We need this restaurant to last for a long, long time so that good, reasonably priced food in a nice atmosphere is attainable. Having eaten here several times, I have never been disappointed.

Always pleasant to come here. It's unpretentious, the food is very good, the wait staff are long-term, thoroughly pleasant, & friendly. If you require Trumpian appurtenances of luxury, this place is not for you. If you're a normal human, I recommend it unhesitatingly.

Have been to Knickerbocker many times for brunch and for dinner. It never disappoints. Our lunch was excellent with many choices. Some of us had eggs and others had fish. All dishes were very good. The service is always excellent. I'm sure I will be back again soon.

Great establishment that has been around for years. It is good to know that there are still places once can go that is familiar and has been around.
Staff is friendly and efficient, food consistently excellent and prices can't be beat.
One of few places where they still serve you bread and not charge you. :-)

This is a definitial Greenwich Village eatery, great for drinks, lunch, or dinner, impervious to the passing fads and trendiness. Porterhouse vies with that of the great New York steakhouses, such as Gallagher’s and Keen’s. But lighter fare including salads and sandwiches are top notch too. Service is attentive. Bartenders know their craft. Mid century aesthetic is the real deal, not an interior designer’s mock-up with Al Hirschfeld drawings and original Broadway theatre posters.

Overall great meal for dinner (if I stuck to my usual favorites such as the T-bone steak and souffle for two). Seated promptly with our reservation and we started off with two appetizers this time. The grilled octopus was overly done and the country fried chicken came out very dry. Other menu items such as the caviar pie and bbq ribs were on point and delicious. The amount of caviar varies depending on the preparer and the day of the week.

I have lived in this neighborhood for over 20 years and am disappointed to see that the food and service at The Knickerbocker has declined to this extent. Service was rushed; servers kept bumping into our chairs; our simple food was only fair and barely warm.

We were warmly welcomed by the host who promptly seated us. Our server was phenominal without over doing it. The food was a bit underwhelming and average at best. The menu choices are broadly appealing but the execution of the food needs some help.

We had a very good meal here. Good price value
We were three and all got the t-bone steak, my only issue is that I didn’t know thar they cut the steak for you. I don’t understand why they do that, also mine was clearly cut too soon so there was a lot of juice on my plate. My medium rare was definitely more of a medium but my companion’s got theirs right.
I would recommend this place.
If I come here again I’ll definitely ask them not to cut my steak (and I’ll skip the creamed spinach too)
