Knickerbocker Bar and Grill
"The place where New Yorkers eat"
Knickerbocker is known for its great Jazz and its 28 oz. T- Bone Steaks and is a favorite among many celebrities including F. Murray Abraham, Chris Noth and Alec Baldwin. Racheal Ray listed us in her "NYC Favorites" and has praised our Shrimp Cocktail, Creamed Spinach, and of course our T- Bone Steaks.
The word "Knickerbocker" itself, says "New York". Upon entering, you’ll know you're in the Village. Its wood paneled walls sport rare turn of the century posters and original caricatures by Al Hirschfield. Large leather booths line the walls and brass rails accent the 100 year old marble bar, where Charles Lindbergh signed his Trans Atlantic contract.
We have survived the times by using the freshest ingredients from local markets, and offering good solid value and quality.

Steak was over cooked. Shrimp with Shrimp cocktail were not cold. We have dined three times since reopening food is struggling.
They did offer to replace the steaks, but waiting for the replacement would have left one diner eating alone. I am going to answer yes to recommending to a friend with reservation.
Great food, great service everyone loved it. A true NY gem!
Everything is terrific
Sat outside. Delighted to be back at knickerbocker. One of our faves! Good just as good as I remembered.
So glad Knickerbockers is open again. It's a favorite spot for meeting some of my favorite people. The quality does not seem to have diminished. Looking forward to my next visit!
I’ve been going since 1985 and never disappointed!!!😎
Great neighborhood spot. So glad it's reopened and has outdoor spaces. Great food and always delightful.
Its been about 3 years since I've been here and Waitress Maria is ALWAYS AMAZING! very informative and accommodating. Thank you so much Maria!
We sat outside and it was very nice. good food. great service
The food is consistently good’ the staff is so helpful and friendly! Love this Greenwich Village gem.
A warm welcome and friendly place .
Food was excellent, thanks again for the warm hospitality.
Especially fond of Kathleen, she made it a wonderful experience.
I always love knickerbocker food always good service excellent
I love this plac. Great food. Couzy and ambience
Attentive snd polite service. Great good snd unusually diverse menu. Ambience is lacking as akin to a high end finer
We love going to Knickerbocker Bar and Grill every time we come to Manhattan. It is one of our favorites. We love the old time (early 20th Century) vibe and the service and food. It seems like they are coming back from the pandemic limitations but I didn't feel like it was fully back to pre-pandemic conditions. I know it will be next time.
The two things I missed the most during the pandemic were hugs from people I love and dining at Knickerbockers. Life begins with a chocolate soufflé.
We love Diane. So
Glad to be back. Can’t wait for music!!
The Knickerbocker is our favorite local place, Took our friends there last evening as we've been sharing how much we like it. The whole evening was off. Service was very slow despite it not being super crowded. Ordered filet for the first time- at Medium. took one hour to be served, the filet was medium well as was my friends. the baked potatoes were super overcooked. chose to just deal with it. we didn't stay for dessert. very disappointing overall.
Great atmosphere, lovely people, excellent food. Extra kudos to Maria our server. Knickerbockers is a neighborhood institution. I’m so glad it’s back.
It is great to have this Greenwich Village mainstay back.
The Knick is back! I haven’t had steak this good since before the pandemic began — and that’s the last time I was at Knickerbocker’s. The steak is excellent. Well-prepared. And a very good value compared to other steakhouses. As always, the crowd is as NYC as it gets — a great mix of everyone. The staff is as friendly and hard-working as always. So glad you’re back!
Fantastic neighborhood restaurant back in the saddle after a long Covid shitdown.
This was my second visit to Knickerbocker. I was disappointed by the food - it was tasteless. Last time I was here, I had a very good meal. The service this time was not attentive - we had to keep waving to the waiter to order drinks. The restaurant was not crowded, so there was little excuse for not paying attention.
Enjoyed sitting in banquette, nice and private. Our waiter was friendly and told us the specials. My martini and my friends Aperol spritz were good pours. Our wedge caesar salads were cold crisp, and very tasty. My burger was a good size, fries were crisp and good with the accompanying slice or tomato and red onion, and greens on the plate were nicely dressed. All in all, I was very satisfied, and full. I may be back for Thanksgiving dinner, as my family and I enjoyed it the Thansgiving just before covid.
Best steak house in NYC and best staff!
Everything was excellent as usual. The BBQ ribs were delicious and a big portion. Service was great. Always a place to go.
Delicious! So glad our neighborhood favorite is back!
One of our favorite Manhattan restaurants. Caviar pie and the chocolate soufflé for two are must-haves.
We were thrilled when the Knickerbocker reopened and that it was as good as ever. Their outdoor set up is very nice with hedges separating the tables. The signature TBone for two was perfectly prepared and as always top quality. They are a bit understaffed as menu restaurants are right now so we had a nice leisurely meal. More time for cocktails. This is top notch neighborhood place where you can get very good food for a fair price.
The Knickerbocker is the ideal “bar and grill” for very good American cuisine. The service is excellent, with waitstaff who have a history with the restaurant and are very good at making you feel important and comfortable. This is not fine dining but very good dining in a convivial and attractive neighborhood restaurant. Make a reservation for a booth if you can.
Fantastic neighborhood joint, delicious food great service, and all-time favorite!
Wonderful, as always. I’m so happy Knickerbocker has reopened!
I am so happy this place is open again. We've been coming for the early dinner every new year's eve for the past 6 yrs, my wedding reception for my family was here, our go to place for celebratory dinners or for a quiet dinner or for just any dinner. 14 years of coming here every few months says a lot for the love i have for this place.
Petit fillet was terrific! Excellent service and love the clubby atmosphere.
Classic NYC spot with COVID-19 partitions and masked servers doing what they can to restore comfort and normalcy in this difficult time. My wife and I chose this old favorite for our anniversary celebration dinner after being cautious since lockdown, the menu had some changes due to limited staff, but we were greeted warmly and served by a friendly attentive waiter that explained menu changes. The room has character that is relaxing and the hum of conversations at other tables made it a more pleasant experience. We had the sautéed salmon and fettuccine bolognese and enjoyed them immensely.
Everything about Knickerbocker is great: Food, drinks, atmosphere, the great servers, fantastic bartender Fiona… the clients… best neighborhood gem in Greenwich Village
True neighborhood restaurant! Great service and ambiance with Delice food and drink!! So glad it’s back open post Covid!!
The best porterhouse in NYC.
We have been regulars for many years and were thrilled when
The menu seem to have been cut back drastically. Otherwise the experience was fine
The staff were friendly and accommodating as always. The food was fresh, delicious and prepared well. Can’t wait to eat here again next time I am in NYC!
