The salmon dish was incredible! The best i ever had!
Kites was an incredible place to eat. My girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our food and time there.
Great location and great view. The food was not fresh and the waiters forgot about our requests. I asked for Rye bread and kept getting white bread. Extremely overpriced.
While the food was decent, and the restaurant is nicely decorated and pleasant, the service is so terrible it might as well be self service. The hostess had no idea what was going on, took 15 minutes past the reservation time to get seated, even though the table was set up when we arrived (10 minutes early). Waitress was very slow to serve and not attentive to the table AT ALL. Had to go up to the bar to get another glass of wine, which is unacceptable. The bartender, however, was very nice and quick to serve. Only plus to the experience.
Prime rib was very fatty and more like a steak. Waitress was extremely courteous and professional.
I was very disappointed in the overall quality that we received at Kites. We ordered soup as a starter and it was delivered to us cold. We waited several minutes for our server to come check on us and we had to get up to wave down the hostess who was watching YouTube on her phone. Finally the server came over and she apologized and brought back our soup, which was now tasty and HOT. Our entrees arrived, I ordered the quesadillas, they were fine and my husband ordered the ribeye medium rare. The ribeye was served well done, like a hockey puck. The sides were cold as well. He sent it back and 30 minutes later, the server brought out a new one. 30 minutes to cook a new steak??? We were already done eating when his arrived. It came out medium rare but the quality of the meat was AWFUL. He said it tasted like a hard piece of sirloin, certainly not a ribeye. Even my daughter who is not a steak connoisseur said the meat was "gross". Either way we were very discouraged since we were staying at the Crystal Resort and this restaurant was recommended. We had a reservation for breakfast the next day that I quickly cancelled. I definitely would not recommended nor go back. The only positive was the live music and the beautiful fireplace which added a nice ambiance.
Unknown to us, the breakfast menu is a small buffet in the corner of the restaurant. Had we known this in advance we would have eaten off the resort. We weren't told upfront how much the buffet was but it's about $19.95/adult, less for kids. It wasn't worth the money to me but it was convenient if you're staying at the resort and while it wasn't great, it was edible. The hot food options were limited (waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, and diced potatoes) and there was also a basic fruit salad (melons mostly), yogurt, a charcuterie board, and mini bagels (which were very hard - even before toasting). Overall, lots of opportunity for improvement.
Ambiance is nice as there is a fireplace that non-dining patrons or those waiting can sit in front of. The dining area is well appointed and service was a little on the slow side but overall attentive during our visit. However, the food itself is where the restaurant is challenged. After reading numerous poor reviews on various sites, my husband and I decided to order something simple, so we opted for burgers. I requested mine medium well but it arrived medium and the bun was somewhere in between fresh and stale. My husband's burger arrived as requested but they did not have sliced pickles as a topping so they brought him a side of pickle wedges (not quite the same but it was a nice gesture). I opted not to make an issue of my undercooked burger and made the best of it. When we ordered we were advised that there was a $3 upcharge for swapping the regular fries for a side salad or sweet potato fries - I found this to be an odd upcharge but I requested the sweet potato fries anyway. However, I was extremely unhappy when I received my food and the sweet potato fries were long, thick crinkle cuts of sweet potato wedges that were not fully cooked through - probably because they were so thick. The $3 upcharge for something completely inedible on top of an already undercooked burger is what took the experience from somewhat tolerable to a complete disappointment. Sadly this is the only restaurant at the Minerals resort. My recommendation is to take the shuttle to their sister property and dine at one of the restaurants there or just drive into town or a nearby city.
The waiter told us 32 minutes later that there was no more Nutella for my grandson, we waited one hour for our lunch two salads a child pizza and a foot-long hotdog that is a regular hot dog by the way. To substitute for not having a tower. We asked for a manager for over a half hour, Wait staff told us that the manager refused to come out to speak to us, she finally came out after we were done with our meal. Food was good service and wait time was horrible
Away for a ski weekend with the family
Went for breakfast after reviewing their breakfast menu online. We get there sit down and are advised it’s buffet only because of busy long holiday weekend. So we think ok, great. Well for the buffet they had 4 hot item options pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon and potatoes. Toast, mini bagels and English muffins. For a hotel that was at full capacity apparently they had 1 toaster?! The line was so long. You had to ask the staff to replenish the pancakes and bagels. The food tasted awful. And they charged more then $20 per person. Ridiculous. For a resort that says it’s a four star resort, I wouldn’t even rate their food on the scale. They should be embarrassed. Everyone was complaining . Maybe the regular menu might be good but the “buffet” option was a joke.
Wen absolutely loved it here!
Prompt and VERY friendly service
Food was awesome too! (Pork lollipop app is great!)
Our waitress was AMAZING !!! The food was phenomenal and so fresh ! Second time there for our anniversary .. it’s now a tradition ! Thank you !!
Our food did not come out for nearly one hour.
Our waitress, I believe her name was Ari, was very personalable and friendly. She was on top of everything and did not forget anything we asked for. Kites was enjoyable and I will recommend in the future.
Service was so slow. It took over an hour just get our appetizers. The waitress was attentive and kept telling us she was checking with the kitchen but the food just was not coming out. My sons filet was raw when it finally arrived and my food was cold. I would not go back.
We ate st Kite’s Restaurant 4 times during our weekend stay at Minerals Hotel, twice for breakfast and twice for dinner. Food was very good and the portions were large. Great menu options for adults and kids. Staff service was outstanding!! They went above and beyond. It was our son’s birthday and they brought out a sundae with a candle so we could sing happy birthday. We would definitely eat there again!
Service was very slow (blame kitchen, not waitress who was very sweet), and when my meal finally came out it was very overcooked-I couldn’t cut it or chew it and had to send it back, something I have never in my life done before. Everyone else’s meals were fine. But nothing amazing.
Unfortunately the restaurant didn’t have our table ready at the time our reservation was for so we had to wait over 20 minutes to sit. Food was fine but service was so slow it took away from the enjoyment of the meal.
We ate here two night in a row because we were staying at the hotel. The service was excellent. My only dislike was the reservation situation. According to open table and the reservation number, the restaurant was “sold out.” I took a chance and went there, and the place was empty. They sat us immediately.
Went for a early birthday getaway and had the bone in rib eye steak. Steak was cooked very good wife also had steak ... would go back again
Service was very slow. It was after 8 on a Thursday night and the restaurant wasn’t that busy. Took over 15 minutes to be greeted by a server after we asked the bus boy to help us. Drinks came one at a time. Appetizers served without plates. Kids entrees were ok, but filet mignon was way too small for the price and was not cooked as requested. Would think twice before going again.
Everything was perfect...our waitress was amazing! overall great experience. Would definitely go back!
GOOD FUN.. WENT FOR MY SONS 30TH BIRTHDAY.. STAYING AT CRYSTAL SPRINGS!
Food is excellent and very good menu selection. Something for everyone.
Nice relaxed atmosphere.
Our waitress was excellent with a great personality. I will definitely be back soon.
Cascades restaurant has a much better selection in comparison to the Minerals.
We were staying at a neighboring hotel that was part of this same resort. We wanted to have a somewhat casual dinner so we decided to go over to Kites. We arrived on time for our reservation and were seated promptly. Our waitress was very attentive and polite. The restaurant was very hot. It had to be in the upper 70's. Most restaurants are usually a little chilly so we were dressed appropriately for that and paid the price as we were all quite uncomfortable. While the facility seemed clean there were several pesky flies buzzing around which made for an unpleasant dining experience. We didn't order anything outlandish. My daughters had typical children's menu items while my girlfriend and I both just ordered burgers. The burger itself was okay but the bun was toasted, and as far as I could tell it was to cover up the fact that the buns were stale. The truffle fries were very soggy as if they had not been cooked long enough. My children wanted dessert and that was actually very good. To be fair to the establishment I did not complain at all and that was for two reasons. The first was that it was so hot in there I just wanted to finish my meal and go back to the room. The second reason is that the table next to me had done nothing but complain about the quality of the food to their waiter. I felt bad for the wait staff as it was not their fault for what the kitchen was putting out. I would not visit this restaurant again, not because we were treated poorly but because the food was not up to par.
We have never tried it because of the reviews. The food was good and the service was very good as well.
Food is one dimensional. Food took a long time to come out.
Fried zucchini was amazing as was the avocado toast. All of my friends enjoyed our meal except one piece of raw chicken, it happens. It was taken away and cooked. Service was knowledgeable and attentive. Overall great, besides that one mishap.
Very disappointed after reading decent reviews. We were a party of 8 from out of town there for a birthday celebration and seated at a table under an area of such bright lighting that we were unable to see the person across from being so blinded. We were rushed to order because kitchen closed at 9- yet we didn’t sit down until after 8:00- and then we were rushed through appetizers. Our dinner came as we were still eating apps. When we asked boy who brought plates to table for additional marinara sauce for zucchini sticks, he pointed to small half finished cup that was with the calamari and said use that you already have some. We then asked the waitress and she did not bring either.
The whole evening was questionable- drinks came wrong or forgotten. Some items were asked to be wrapped to bring home and never came back to table.
Just not at all how we envisioned our birthday celebration evening.
The #1 thing I'd say is the service was outstanding! The food was ok. Went there for my daughters Sweet 16 and the girls liked the food, however, my husband and I thought it was mediocre. I'd go back just because the service was excellent.
Kites was the best restaurant I went to within the Crystal Springs Resort. Barbie, our waitress, was fantastic. She was our waitress for lunch and we requested her for dinner as well. The Manager was very nice as well. Regarding the food, I really enjoyed the fried mac & cheese, kale & quinoa salad, vegetable lasagna and chocolate fudge cake.
We sat under a heat lamp. Too hot. Food was horrible. Service was good and people were friendly.
The food was really poor and seemed to take ages to come out. The wait staff were nice but did not seem well trained or know how to look after each table. The mac and cheese tasted like it was a from a ready made packet and the fried chicken and salad were both really bland. Would suggest heading to the restaurants at Grand Cascades - they were much better.
It was part of the dining options on the crystal springs resort properties . Was not impressed with anything but service Buffet was nothing special. No gluten free options. And we were told that restaurant was closing at 11 AM when they took our 10:30 reservation. Will not choose that place for breakfast again.
Ate here twice while staying at Minerals. Great serving staff and bartenders, food prep time seemed to take awhile though. However food was really good and at a good value. Would recommend.
Definitely small menu and slow service seemed understaffed. Food was a bit over priced for the quality. Would definitely recommend expanding the breakfast menu. Found restaurant in town 5 min away better food and lower price.
The food service and wait staff must have been totally under staffed and completely overwhelmed. Although our waitress was kind and apologetic, it took forever to get served and all courses came out wrong or not at all. We asked for bread three times. Never got any. I ordered a simple house salad as my appetizer. Didn’t get it until dinner was served and only because I had to ask for it again. For my entree I ordered the salmon that was supposed to come with risotto but all I got was the salmon! Needless to say we skipped dessert.
The food was ok, expensive. I did not like our server, first she got our order then she only came to us after we ate. That's it, she did not even ask us "how's the food" or "if there's anything I can get you". I wanted ketchup for my fries and steak sauce but I did not get that coz no one came to our table to ask us, they seem so busy but the restaurant was not full at all. And also our server just got out plate (i was done with my steak but i was still working on my fries) without even asking if its OK to get it. And we also did not get our bread while waiting for our meal. Other table beside us got some bread (they had a different server though). Not coming back to this restaurant.
