Home style cooking at its best is our mantra. You are met at the door with our abundantly filled pastry cases. The shelves are filled with our homemade layer cakes, flaky pies, iced cupcakes, fruit crisps and so much more to tempt you on your way to a table. Kitchenette can satisfy all your cravings whether it be an oasis from the cold with our own hot chocolate topped with a homemade marshmallow, or a steamy bowl of chicken soup or a hearty meal of turkey meatloaf and mashed potatoes. We are a home away from home. Please note that we can only hold your table for ten minutes and incomplete tables will be sat until all party members have arrived.

Brendon is the best server. Really cool guy. Great atmosphere and all.

Lovely, neighborhood, kitschy small restaurant...reservations definitely needed on holidays and perhaps weekends. Worth it for a fun lunch/dinner/brunch with wonderful ambiance and local cuisine that is home cooked. Interesting decor by young women which has lasted for decades on this block! And just learned that they give 10% discount IF you pay in CASH! Fabulous!

Since the first time I've been there, I've loved Kitchenette. It's become a favorite spot to take loved ones and friends from out of town for Sunday Brunches, for me. The food is fantastic and hearty, and the staff are always friendly and the right amount of attentive, making eating there a pleasure, even with the slightly tight space that the restaurant occupies.

Table was ready when we arrived for our 11:30 reservation, food was delicious as always. Service was a little scattered but responsive.

Waiter told us specials after we asked and we had already ordered drinks. Burger was well done and burned, asked for medium. They forgot gluten free bread. Poor service and charged full price

Very overpriced, in my opinion. Went for brunch and a small sized serving of breakfast food was ~15-20. Service wasn't great. Food quality was good, though.

Mac and cheese was excellent, we ordered it as a side but next time it will be my main. Cornbread was oh-so-good and made with butter, I just wanted more and more of the cranberry butter that comes on the side. Service was great, staff was knowledge about what items were vegetarian. Tables are extremely close together. Reasonably priced, but not cheap.

There's nothing more rewarding when you find a local gem, in your neighborhood, that's affordable, and has amazing food - The Kitchenette is such a find! The selection of daily items along with specials makes this a wonderful early spot for brunch or lunch. The only downside is the very, very cramped seating - you WILL be crammed in if they are busy. But then again, what Manhattan place ISN'T? Go here - check them out, you won't be sorry!

The rating on Open table is far higher than the food quality and value for money. The spot is average.

I used to love this place. It has a charm to it but the food isn’t really anything special anymore and seems pricey for what it is. The potatoes that comes with many breakfast items are clunky and heavy with no crispness- I think they are boiled. The biscuit didn’t have much flavor and I didn’t like the jam it came with. This place needs a facelift- it looks old and tired. The waitstaff was very nice and accommodating though. And you get a nice little discount if you pay cash.

Thanksgiving prix fixe dinner at Kitchenette was amazing. Funky little place at 123rd and Amsterdam produces high quality food in a 1950's atmosphere. Meal started with tomato soup --a bit too tangy for my taste but my husband enjoyed it. Our dinner plates were piled high with the most tender turkey, tasty cornbread/sausage stuffing, bread and apple stuffing, mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes, dijon green beans, acorn squash, and cranberry sauce. Had to take half the plate home, along with the fabulous pumpkin pie.

Picked this place a on a whim and was so happy I did. The food was fantastic and the service really great. It's a small space, and if you don't have a reservation, you will wait a while for a table on the weekend, but it is worth the wait; and you can't beat $5 mimosas/bloody mary's on Saturday and Sunday. Will definitely be going back.

Lil hole in the wall joint - these type of places always blow me away w/ gr8 service and food. Kitchenette was no different.... good southern home cook food (I'm from SC so I think I'm pretty good judge). Fast service and friendly server who knew his menu and recommended a very tasty bfast dish (see pics below). Defitively would return when in area and spread the word.....

We had breakfast on a Sunday morning with a reservation. We were seated promptly, but the server was quite slow to come and greet us. I ordered scrambled eggs, bacon, and a biscuit. The eggs were over cooked and the biscuit was hard and tasteless, and the bacon was undercooked. The noise level was so high, it was hard to carry on a conversation.
I don't think I will be back.

My friend and I were celebrating with our daughter's for their 19th birthdays. It was a great start to our touring day in the city. The hostess was friendly and helpful about whether or not we should visit St. John Divine Church before our reservation time. (She was right, it was best that we ate breakfast first!) Our waitress was extremely helpful with our menu choices and pleasantly suggested that we didn't fill up too much before our main meal. The baked goods were delicious and so were our meals. We loved how the restaurant was decorated. I look forward to returning!
